Everyone's Welcome...Except Christians!

Who's on Campus And, Who's Not!?

The bell has rung, and classes have begun. School is back in session across America. Football, fraternities, and festivities abound. New students seek to connect with another; a plethora of groups beckon new students to join a group catering to their interests.

Take one example. Hastings College of the Law is a premier California law school. Besides top notch legal education, the students there can enjoy, inter alia, HHLO (Hastings Health Law Organization), the Hastings Chess Club, HPILF (Hastings Public Interest Law Foundation), Self Defense Classes, Yoga and an Environmental Clinic.

And, students can also gather and use college facilities to explore their identity: A/PALSA--Asian Pacific Law Student Association; not to be confused with SALSA (South Asia Law Student Association) or VALS (Vietnamese American Law Society). There is also the ILSA (Iranian Law Students Association) and the HJLSA (Hastings Jewish Law Student Association). Source: Hastings Weekly Vol. 2007-2007 No. 3, September 5, 2006.

Tolerance. Acceptance. Diversity. The way it should be under the First Amendment.

But note: There is no Christian Legal Society (CLS) chapter permitted on campus. Why? Lack of interest? No. The CLS group is being excluded from the campus public square. Why? Because it believes that its leaders should be, . . . . well, . . . .Christian--confessionally and functionally, creedally and ethically. How radical . . . .not.

In other words, the CLS chapter seeks to self define, without coercive State regulation, intimidation, and political correctness. Is this really so hard to comprehend? Can one imagine the campus Democrats being led by Red-State Republicans? Or, the Jewish group being led by Shia Muslims? Unthinkable--unless the association is comprised of Christians who believe that belief is important and that faith without works is worthless, including works relating to sexual behavior, chastity, and the structure of marriage.

There does exist under the constitution the liberty of conscience,

This is silly.  What paranoid person came up with this policy?  Good grief.
