I invested in a Select Comfort bed. It cool that I can have my side of the bed the way I want it than what my wife prefers. She like it more "cushy".

Yeah dude, your bed is cool with that half firm, half soft thing going on...Your wife prefers when I do her on your side by the way...More support underneath her while I drill.  Her side is just too soft for that and she revels in knowing that you sleep on the wet spot

Anyway, back to the beds discussion. 

Me and my wife have just bought a new bed - slatted wooden frame with oak panelling and a kingsize Tempur mattress to go on top. It's what the NASA astronauts use when their in space and it is the shiznit. We've had it a few months and getting it up the stairs was a mission in itself. I haven't had a bad night's sleep since we got it.

It gets BigJ's double thumbs up!

In addition to my above post, I've just had a thought - don't attempt to have sex on it - you will sink in too much and it ruins the experience. Harder surfaces are best.
