Have you considered that it may have been ok with Shawn's mom to take the fall for him? Have you considered that all the money Shawn made dealing coke provided a great life for his mother? If somebody supported me in some way I would be willing to do that for them too. You make it sound like his mother was the victim here. If anything, she may have had tons of opportunities thanks to Shawn's dealings IF any of this is even true. I'm just going over a hypothetical scenario here. What kind of charge did Shawn's mother get?

Hypthetically, if she was ok with getting a felony conviction and going to prison for any length of time for her son's drug dealing, then she's an idiot. Then again, one could argue that she was already an idiot and already somewhat guilty of criminal behavior if she knew what he did to get the money and allowed him to support her with "dirty" money. BTW, I don't agree with US drug laws either, but that's not the point.
All that aside, if I dealt cocaine and my mother got busted driving my car with my coke in the trunk, I'd be man enough to confess my guilt and keep her from getting a felony conviction and going to prison (assuming she was truly innocent of dealing or knowingly transporting the drugs). Anyone who would pressure (or even just allow) their mother take such a fall (no matter how willing she was to take the rap) for their own crimes is a piece of shit, period. And anyone who is innocent yet willing to take such a fall (regardless of what they felt they "owed" such a person) is a moronic enabler, period. Again, don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
