John Romano Live on the radio
« on: September 13, 2006, 04:34:29 PM »
JR,

Great job on the air Monday night.  I think that you did a fantastic job defending yourself and getting your point across.  I agree that all of this needs to be put to bed and move on for the benefit of the sport.  I think that this is a loose, loose situation.  Big Ups to you.  Shawn, loved your comment about the ninjas.  That was a low blow.  I would low blow you back, but I"d end up hitting you in the nose.

Regarding your comment about what I said about MD over four years ago, is somewhat true.  But, MD has evolved since then.  Now, it is a very respectable magazine who give athletes a chance to make money for photo shoots and interviews.  Speaking of money, I find it interesting that you failed to mention that you repeatedly begged SB for a job.  I distinctively remember having conversations with you asking for SB to give you a call back.  Hey JR, I recall a time when Shawn came by and introduced himself to the table of the MD crew. At that time SB had adviced us that he had been calling him for a job.

John, do you remember your exact words?   Anyway, my point is this.  I feel that the sport needs all of the coverage that it can get.  I feel that it is all of our responsibility to put something back into the sport that has given us all so much.  There are some guys that work for AMI that I have the utmost respect for and MD is my home.  Lets stop fighting against each other and start fighting for each other.  One!

Thanks Kenny for clearing that up. I did speak with Steve about possibly coming on board with him with "Intentions" of helping to clean up the magazine, it never happend and the rest is history.

By the way that was 2 years ago and you were barely writing for them, as you complained about the Graphics in the magazines and the Curse words they used to promote themselves. You wouldn't even show your wife the articles because of the Cartoons and Nudity but your right, they've gotten better.

I didn't attack Steve or John, I stated my opinion which John do so eloquently as well. We agree to disagree sometimes but dialogue is good and the "Ninjia Story" was the one you spoke of at the show and magazines not me. I just remembered it, as tragic as it was, it prevented you from competing in 1997 remember? Meaning, anything can happen before the show and it ain't over til the fat lady sings.

That being said, I agree, the fighting between magazines and journalists needs to be put to bed and the promotion of our industry as a whole needs to be at the sports best intrest. Besides, the battle of the Boards is much more interesting.
good luck with the magazine Steve, John and Flex! Looking forward to a better product from you guys down the road.
We all have opinions and I'm entitled to mine.

I could not agree with you more.  My wife and I back the womens bodybuilding 100%.  We feel that they should have the same amount of outlets as men do to generate more money for there families.  You did not hear it from me.  But, there is talk of having a woman bodybuilder on the cover of MD in the future.

Shawn,

How would you help "clean up" any magazine? Do you have any editorial experience, do you have any writing experience? a college degree? Do you have an MBA so you can evaluate the PnL sheets t see what style of the magazine has a greater pull for advertisers and purchasers?

Shouldn't you focus on not chasing ass that is not your wife (I have seen you try to be in action with a friend of mine...) and perhaps getting the supp company you work with to have actual independent clinical research studies to substantiate any of the claims that are made on the ads?

Shawn, look at what your life has become. does vyo-tech have any moral standards for their "spokesman"? any "code of conduct"?  It seems like you love to bring people's hard times or mistakes to the public. what is wrong with you?

MY brutha from anotha mutha!!  First me then you???  What's happening here?  Thanks for the props.  Too bad I wasn't still on when the company boys ganged up.  But it wouldn't have been fair to have me against the two of them.  They would have needed at least two more guys  ;D

I don't remember my exact words to SR.  Do you?

A agree, lets stop the fighting among us and fight for what's right.  I'm all for keeping it real.

Time for a group hug. I know I can get Flex and John  to hug. Now what about Shawn? Then we can work on everybody, and concentrate on an excellent Olympia Weekend where the fireworks will be on the stage, not between the magazines...

Ron, don't forget BayGBM in that hug.

Some things are easy to forget.  Other things tend to stay on our minds.  We can get pre-occupied, with a thought, or an unanswered question.  We can wonder what actually happened.

Take me for example I heard about this one program from way back in the 90's and I JUST CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT.

You're weird.

...and stalking me.

I'm all over this board baby so clear the way if you don't want to deal with me.  You remember that kid that walked around swinging his fists in a circle warning everybody to watch out.  That was me, I was doing that way before '93.

Oh yea, I remember him. His name was Joey. Kinda slow, dopey kid who was in the "special" class with the bibs and padded helmets.

I had my BF% measured back in '93 by Joey at the local Golds Gym and it was 0.0%! Man, was Joey surprised!

Was the reading accurate, It's hard to wield a caliper when you're swing your arms.  I heard Billy smith never raised his arms past 30 degrees below horizontal.
