Why would it embarass Wayne?
I'm, sure he has a game plan like the one you outlined...this aint his first rodeo.
It's posted as fact...giving a false impression to athletes that may be considering joining this organization, wouldn't be in their best interest now, would it?

If the Colo Pro had given away 5,000 tickets this year, they would have lost less money (that means they spend way less on advertising and sales admin).  Since everyone who went loved the show, they're help their 3-year goals tremendously, as the next years' show would have great numbers.

That being said, I'm just at a loss of words.  I will literally be shocked if you can get five of your peers to post here and say what you did was a classy move.  I will be shocked if you can convince five people to put their reputations on the line to say you did an honorable thing by posting that.

I am really disappointed, man.  You take nonstop shots at Wayne anytime you're near a mic, then you post this, along with "Just "keeping it real"...."

Do your thing.  Do what you feel is right.  I am at a loss for words.

You see...thats where you fail to see the light, 240...no one cares (least of all me) what YOU think.

Leading bbers down the primrose path of promises, guest posings, appearances, and delusions of grandeur... isn't doing them any favors. They have a right to know what is before them, and the REALITY of the situation.

If they are privvy to the truth, then they are more apt to make a wise decision reguarding their future...

Don't you find it a little strange that guys are dropping out one after another, all citing the same reasons? Ask Vince, Vinny, TJ, etc. WHY they have all decided to re-consider...

I thought for a minute you had the best intersts of the Bodybuilders in mind...you obviously don't.

I know that YOU are not accusing ME of having an agenda that goes against the BBers.  If you haven't noticed, I'm probably the loudest one arguing for right to earn $ outside of IFBB, while you parrot the rulebook.  I am forever pointing out that the raise in Olympia money this year is below the inflationary rate - meaning they are actually getting LESS money this year than last.  You're throwing your shoulder out patting yourself on the back for the money increase.

Please tell me - why didn't you call or email the IFBB/PDI guys with this information.

Why did you choose to post it?

You shit all over my grassroots sales suggestion too, til Shawn said after the show that he should have done that.

Fact is, if you had given away 5000 tickets to this year's show, you would have saved a lot of resources on advertising and admin.  if you had allowed fans to get them online for free, or in their gyms, you would have had full capacity, and with all the comps and savings, yo wouldn't have lost that much $ this year.  but the rerun next year would have been awesome.

i hear that everyone who went, loved it, and will be back.  So, I contend that if you had convinced 5000 people to cram that place, you would be selling a hell of a lot more tix next year, with advertising no more aggressive than a subtle reminder.

it's much like the store grand opening that will have specials which sell below cost to get the person in the door that first time.  You might operate in the red show 1, but you'll be paid back in spade show 2, plus you'll have that goodwill that comes from being the Bbing show that "Hooked Denfer teh F up!"

I didn't shit all over anything but you claiming to know how to promote a show.

Getbiggers,

Let's be honest above all else. Say what you want about Wayne giving tickets away to build goodwill or encourage interest in the sport. The bottom line is that they can't sell any tickets for this show. Local shows sell tickets to the competitors' friends, families, and people from their gym. IFBB shows sell tickets to fans who see these guys on magazine covers. The Night of Champions has neither. 90% of the competitors are from overseas. I don't know too many friends/families/gymrats who would pay $1500 for airfare/hotel/meals//tickets and deal with airport security and visa hassles just to watch a guy compete in a bodybuilding show. This ain't the Olympics fellas.

The real deal is that Wayne is giving away tickets he knows will go unsold. In other words, the entire balcony and mezzanine and rear orchestra. I am a bodybuilding fan in NYC. I've been to the NOC several times. Why would I go this year? Why would I pay $60 - $200 to see guys I've never heard of, seen or met? Because some of these guys are huge?? Big deal. I can see huge IFBB Pros for $10 at the Arnold Expo in person.

If Wayne wanted to generate interest in bodybuilding or build goodwill, he would have priced the tickets at a more reasonable amount like $20-30 to make it accessible for the average gymgoer. He would have set aside tickets for children or teen groups months ago, instead of at the last minute.

The bottom line is this: Wayne blew it. More miscalculations than an Iraq invasion. He didn't recruit IFBB Pros. He didn't hire a staff. He tried to do it all by himself. He got greedy. He thought he could make easy money. He thought he could sell the gay community by banking on the past goodwill of the name "Night of Champions". He thought Lee Priest and Vince Taylor would lead the cavalry. He thought ignorant people would buy tickets to the NOC expecting to see guys like Victor Martinez, Melvin Anthony, Markus Ruhl, and other names. He told people that Shawn's Colorado Pro show was going to be cancelled. He tried to sell us on the idea of aesthetic physiques and then made a guy named 'Rhino' his first signing. He had me going for a while until I realized that this was about nothing more than him making a bunch of money for himself. Nothing wrong with that, but don't act like you're trying to change the game or better the sport when it's really just about fattening your own wallet.

Giving away free tickets is a known tactic in the concert/theater/sport business to help a promoter save face from having an empty arena/auditorium. Nothing more and nothing less.

Peace!

The Night of the Champions should be called the Night of the Dying Dead.

No Vince Taylor
No Vince Galanti
No TJ

Who's left....Rhino???.....Bahhhahahahahah!!!!

You know, I might compete at the NOC now that I think about it.  I do have to do the NPC Mountaineer next week so it would be good to do a warm-up show at a smaller local event than the Mountaineer.

So Lee Priest, I'll see you onstage....or will we........ ;D

Cicherillo has exposed that NOC isn't almost sold out.

We could always debate if he is having too much fun when he formulates himself or not, but the facts remain pretty undisputable.

I'm sure DeMilia has told everyone that it's almost sold out. And this shouldn't be about those who believed DeMilia.

In fact, he played those guys all along, and if anyone, they're the one who have a reason to be pissed. They were played like puppets. Not anyone else.

Friends:

My friend Wayne DeMilia has a Pro Bodybuilding Championship (The Night of
the Champions) this Friday and Saturday in NYC - Town Hall Theatre.  For
almost 30 years the NOC has been an N.Y. Institution with the strength &
power community.

This year is the first time the Pro Division is introducing serious drug
testing via Harvard U and I am strongly supporting Wayne's effort.

We are working to get young people interested in the sport again and Wayne
has offered to me 500 Tickets to the shows either Friday or Saturday for
any groups, organizations, church group, etc., that could fill those seats
with young people (any age up to late teens).  It would be great if young
people could look to strength training as something exciting again.

If anyone from any groups you work with could benefit from this, call Wayne
DeMilia at 845-638-9290.  Tell Wayne you were referred by Dr. Jack
Barnathan and he'll make whatever number of tickets you can use them
available to you.

Send me an e-mail if you do take advantage of this opportunity I am sharing
with my students and colleagues.

The Olympis generally draws between 5-6,000...couldn't tell you how many are comped. Last year, we drew over 6,000, and expect to draw over 7,000 this year.

240-

You make it sound like I made it up...facts are facts. If this were posted in reference to a IFBB event...you would've been all over it like white on rice....

If that is Waynes strategy...God bless him. I believe it tends to show the interest level...

I love how you word things.  The Olympia genarlly draws between 5-6,000.  How many was therelast year.  From all accounts on here there were way less than that.  Are you counting the expo too.  Please CHic your loyalty to the IFBB in nice but you support a piece of shit organization with allot of false hopes and corruption.

Last year, there were just over 6,000...I could give a shit about "from all accounts.." I'm going by the official accounting, and the only one that matters.

People have their own versions...it's tough for the average fan to look at a venue, and have any real knowledge of how many people are there...as I stated..if the arena holds 15,000 people, and we have 7,000 people in seats...it' looks half empty (or half full depending on your outlook)...

In a 8,000 seat capacity...it would be "nearly sold out"...

Any comment on your "nearly sold out..." postings for 2 months now?

Of course not, why would he harm the organization that feeds him.  It should be up to the PDI to dig up that information and broadcast it to the community.  All's fair when it comes to business.

So it's not sold out?

I was seriously going to go to the show, it's only a few hours drive.  But, I cancelled the trip because it was sold out, and I didn't want to drive for nothing.

This sucks now.  I want to see Priest compete against Sami.
