Men, do female muscles offend you?
« on: September 15, 2006, 12:25:18 AM »
Since there are so many men that post here on the female board, I figured I'd ask you guys this question. I've been reading the posts on getbig long enough to be able to chuckle at some of the responses so I am prepared for the peanut gallery.

Many males that "disapprove" of strong looking women (natural or not) are the same one's who down load porn of muscular females. There is obviously a large market for it or there wouldn't be so many sites recieving so many hits. Men claim that they are disgusted by female muscle but in the closet they lust for it, in some cases worship it. What's the deal???

On the professional end, I am sure that female bodybuilders, like their male counter parts have to adjust and adapt to what the judges want to see. Plain and simple. On the ametuer level I think it's a matter of personal choice on what kind of package you want to bring to the stage(until you reach the National's anyway).

I  compete as an ametuer heavyweight bodybuilder and I am working on gaining mass for next year. Do I use gear? No. Will I ever? Maybe. Maybe not. As a natural I can outlift a few of the men in my gym and go rep for rep pound for pound with a few. I get stared at depending on what I'm wearing by men and women and the only men who seem to have a problem with my muscularity are men who are out of shape. So if female muscle offends you guys then maybe you should look at why it offends you and stop criticizing those of us who are comfortable in our skin.

I think a big reason why bigger girls elicit so many comments is guys feel insecure and need to make themselves feel better.  You would never go up to a heavy person and shake your head in disgust and say "why (shakes head), it's just too much" but I've had that comment a few times and I am not that big.

I think there are mamny people who just aren't attracted to a female with muscle just as I am not attracted to males with none, I think those men tend to not say anything because they could care less how you look.  It is the guys who insist on making stupid comments that feel insecure in themselves (and almost look up to you) that need to tear you down.

I believe you have the right to look the way you want.  As a personal matter of taste, i prefer the softer body type of woman (i.e fitness, swimsuit type) over the harder, bigger women.  I admire the dedication adn everything ti took to get that way, but again its preference.  It's not to say that i find them unattracive or that i wouldnt be with one some day.

Depends on what stage of life you met them. I think if you met them and they were into the lifestyle and you thought they looked good to you and you developed a relationship then fine, but if you were dating a person and they then got all into it and they becames something physically you did not care for it could be hard. I am not saying its all shallow and about looks its about what you find attractive if that makes sense. So many time you hear people say they married a guy who was in shape but ten years later he is a fat slob lying around the couch with a big beer gut, you would still love the person for who they are but you might not find them "as" attractive as you once did and then it starts to kill the relationship espically if your fit. I think most people have a type (espically men) of girl they look for and when they find it they are happy. For some reason I am wired to like short girls (my wife is 5 foot even) and I am 6-3 She was looking thru a bunch of photos of past girlfriend and she stopped and said wow all your ex's look about the same and are short, I said well early on I learned what I like and so there you go.

That being said I like girls who look like they work out, have a strong back and shoulders and firm arms and nice legs but if my wife started to go to the extream as long as she stayed off the drugs i would be supportive and consider myself lucky every day she put up with me because she is a real find.

So nice to finally see some mature responses. I posted the question to try and figure out what all the bashing of female bodybuilders was about on not just this board, but getbig in general.

mostly i believe that men are intimidated by a stronger woman.  I have seen some very large women BB's.  There are times were some women lose feminitiy when they become too large

Absolutely not. I commend all female bbdr's efforts in and out of the gym. Would I date one? No. Not because I do not like female bbdr's but more because its just not my flavour. It is sad when a female bbdr works her but off only to get ridiculed by people. But what needs to be taken more seriously is the look of female bbdr's taking high doses of Androgenic Steriods and HGH totally not suitable for women. The end result is a woman who is very, very muscular, but with extreme faical hair, deep voice, coarse skin and pretty much looks like she's three quarters on her way being a man. That is what the turn off is. Not the fact that they work hard at what they do. Personally I have no problem with it. Hope this helps AZ.

Your absolutely right about that on AZ. There is no need for bashing. That is totally uncalled for.

I like all kinds of women. The softer type as well as the more athletic or muscular type. I like women who are proud of themselves, and their bodies. It's good to see girls and women lift weights. I lift weights to, and do what's necessary to keep myself in shape. I'm not the really big heavyweight type, but people can see that I lift. I look younger than I actually am, because of my active life style.

No, I'm not offended by female muscles. Some women, like power-lifters or whatever, are even stronger than me, and believe me, I'm not weak.
Strong, muscular women are definitely sexy, but, they shouldn't ignore the feminine part of them. That's my opinion on the subject.

Funny thing is that there's a category of males who believe that men who appreciate female muscles are men who are actually gay, or submissive, or into "worshipping" and/or wrestling FBB's, or whatever comes in their confused little minds. (Not that there's anything wrong with men who like to do "sessions" with these ladies, who offer these kind of entertainment). If I speak for myself, I just appreciate an athletic female physique.

I appreciate your question, and must say I too have wondered about all the bashing and hating that goes on at getbig.  I can only guess it's the fact that most people can only seem larger by making others seem small.

Now, to answer your question...female muscles do not offend me, in the least.  I have admired and found beauty in women ranging from the casual athletic type, up to some of the more heavily muscled ladies.

Currently, I am not seeing anyone in particular, but would love to meet a competitive female (figure, fitness, or bodybuilding) and see what would develop.

Hope this helps answer your question, and also proves that there's at least one more guy on here, secure in himself.  Best wishes....

az, I'm gonna try to be as clear as I can on this:

muscle on a FEMALE isn't a problem.

Persons who competes as women (I don't consider them female) who are on male hormone therapy, they are a big fcuking problem.

Male hormones... It just doesn't sound right to inject that into females, does it?

Unless, of course, these persons are really wanting to do a sex change, but in that case, instead of competing in Pro Fitness and Pro Bodybuilding, I think these characters should contact a specialist MD who could help them with every step of the way, making sure they get the operation as well.

No, the muscle mass in itself is never a problem.

I am not turned off by female bodybuilders basically because there are great examples of very female bodybuilders who use and don't use substances for increased body growth. I am into hardbody ladies that are not manly female bodybuilders. I am curious as to what would have happened if pro bodybuilding women had not been able to compete in the Ms. Olympia contest when it was initially canceled in 1999.

I would watch a female bodybuilder compete before watching a guy in a bodybuilding contest because I don't want to look at another man and get any homo erotic impulses.

Female bodybuilders get bad publicity because they are part of a sub culture that is the opposite of the commercial culture that accepts runway models. I think that some lady bodybuilders are very female muscle models that are very unique.

I don't think muscularity on a female turns guys off. Well maybe some mega wimp who weighs 130lbs might be intimidated.

I think the obvious side effects and that 'general manly appearance' that AAS use causes turns guys off though.

My wife was an competitor and is still quite large by normal standards I suppose. When we are out you get weird looks sometime, almost always from other women. She is 150lbs and I am 280lbs so I am bigger than her and It's not a big deal. As long aswomen still look like women and have a womans voice etc. I think muscles are great.  ;D

No...no problem.

I have a hard enough time trying to 'match' another person's personality so with muscle or w/o.....makes no difference.

If they like me in return.....that also helps.

I like female flex appeal because ladies should be able to build as much muscle as they want to. I don't believe it is manly for a lady to have broad shoulders, big arms, a wide back, and thick legs as long as her face looks female. I still remember what some of the very female bodybuilders looked like in the Ms. Olympia Lenda Murray-Kim Chizevsky years. I don't understand why the last Ms. Olympia in the 90's couldn't sell many tickets and then was initially canceled and rescheduled at the last minute. It would have been unfortunate and ridiculous if that contest had not been held that year.

It's a definite turn on...at least to me.  Any female who looks like they spend a fair amount of time taking care of their body is attractive to me...There are some who take it to extremes--but I would not say I get offended by them.
