hedge one thing is taht many perople in the south of ireland refer to football as gaelic football. incidentally this weekend is the gaelic football final between counties kerry and mayo. Its the biggest sporting weekend in ireland. f**k the ryder cup. also in many schools soccer as they would call it is not played and they only have irish and gaelic sports such as handball gaelic and hurling. id call what some call soccer as football and call gaelic football gaelic. confusing i know
Gaelic football and hurling are some badass brutal sports.
I remember a show many years ago here in Sweden, where they were going to list the toughest sports on the planet.
Triathlon and Thai Boxing both made the top ten, and American Football was in 7th or 8th place (mainly due to all the pads). Aussie rules were in third or fourth, and the top two were gaelic football (2nd) and hurling (1st).
Hurling seemed like something only suicidal people would do, guys taking free swings at each other with sticks during a game. Totally insane.
