She just stood there twirling a strand of teased, bleached white hair in her fingers, then winked and gave me one of those coy smiles that told me instantly she was used to using those sweet, ruby reds for more than just making small talk. “I’m Candy,” she said throatily as she took my hand and hoisted herself into the cab. “and I’m headed to White River Junction. Goin’ my way, big guy?”
“Yes ma’am!” I could barely get the words out, as I put the rig into gear and inched back onto the highway. Those long, tanned gams and that short skirt were teaming up to get me thinkin’ thoughts that were starting to put real steam into my engine.
