Chick the actor
« on: September 22, 2006, 04:21:23 PM »
Chick i just took a look at Kevin L myspace page and was pretty impressed with what he seems to be doing...Regardless of what the movies he is doing do at the box office, he is getting his name out there..

My question to you is have you thought about going the route like Kevin and really downsizing your look to appeal to the mainstream? Now that you turned 40, and you still have your looks...Is their enough time to make a push toward something like that or is it something you just don't want to do?

thanks

If Bob downsizes, he would have to buy a whole new closet full of shiny pirate shirts.  That could get expensive!

I agree! I implore you to strongly consider pursuing a career in acting! Your role in Dodgball was a modest display of a truly impeccable performance. It was compelling, moving, and made my eyes well a bit.

Bob has had a number of small roles in movies, and in commercials also.

One good commerical can net you $30,000, with residuals...

So if there is an oppurtinity, why not, for anyone.

As for Bob, working with bb.com, and Weider, and the emcee of the Olympia means that Bob is having a great year, plus radio show, plus Del Taco commericial, plus getting married, new baby... damn.... he can afford lots of special shiny shirts...

It can only make you that if its a national Ron.  And only very few play that long or many markets to make that kind of money. Emceeing the Olympia makes no money.  I haven't seen the Del Taco commerical.  Dodgeball was a day player role that paid the SAG minimum for the day.  He of course might have been in some scenes that got deleted though.  Everyone that appears in a commercial are not paid SAG wages.  And they are not entitled to residuals.  From what Chic said he is not covered by the medical insurance provided by SAG.  That means he did not make the union minimum to be eligible for medical insurance.  It is pretty safe to say he makes more with BB.com than in acting. He does have his foot in the door but he will have to lose size to make some good money.  The "big guy" part is just to limited.

Has he even had any speaking rolls? If he hasn't I don't think he could be SAG. I do know if he has had one speaking roll they have to "Taft/Hartley" him damn near on the spot.....right?

I rememeber way back when, I couldn't join SAG until I was Taft/Hartly, that was the early to mid 80's.

He's had a few speaking parts and I recal at least one of them was more than 5 words so I'm pretty certain he has his SAG card. Chuck Norris offered to help me get my card once when I put him on a training routine. I never followed up with it and Benny Podda ended up doing it. I still had fun doing Hart to Hart, Charlies Angels and Blind Date (the movie) though.

Max my friend who got me into stunts worked on that movie.  Eddie Braun.  He has done well over 100 films and TV.

I'm not even sure he talked in Dodgeball.  I would think by now he is SAG.  Not everyone knows about Taft/Hartley.  It is only good for 30 days then you become a "must-sign".  I actually did Over the Top, Apple Computer, SouthWestern Bell, and a Ralphs commerical under Taft/Hartley and then became a must sign.  I got my SAG card for the Gillette Commercial (which won a CLEO).  I haven't been in the business since 1995 was the last year I did anything which was a McDonalds Commercial.  I had to chop up the old menu board with a chain-saw. They were introducing the new Money-Saving Menu Boards.  So things might have changed.  What is the SAG minimum now?

I just remembered something.  Gold's Gym used to have a talent division at the gym.  They got inside the industry by providing talent in lieu of payment.  Paul Grymkowski told me one time that in all the years they had that program they figured they got over $16 million in marketing exposure for free.  That is why you always see guys wearing Gold's Gym shirts back then on TV and the movies.  I was of course in a certain "click" in the industry.  Whenever they needed football players, weight lifters, bodybuilders, or large thug type I got a call.  Well I remember seeing allot of the same guys at calls.  Mr. T, Jacko, Pete Koch and others.  Gold's Gym would send guys to interviews and I remember no one like them there cause they weren't SAG or somethign like that.  We felt they had an unfair advantage over us.  It was fun though.  I got tired of it and it was a main reason I moved here.

He should stick with his BB.com gig, he's really good at it. Retire his ass from competitive bodybuilding ASAP.

Cicherillo has a golden opportunity with BB.com, should really try out pretty much everything, he'll become seasoned for the big time that way. Doing it all also seems to be a good call, radio, TV, interviews, commentary, everything.

He really needs to slim down though. Start to look like a normal muscular dude.

I *think* it will help him.

I slimmed down and it helped me!  I'm definitely getting more "dialogue" roles now!

I just remembered something.  Gold's Gym used to have a talent division at the gym.  They got inside the industry by providing talent in lieu of payment.

Yeah wasn't it a guy named Derik that ran that division/agency for Gold's. I can't remember the guys last name but it wasn't the guy with big arms. My ex-wife got a movie role (the made for TV movie about a female bodybuilder where the star was trained by Franco), a workout video and she and I were in a Gold's Gym Clothing line print ad in a magazine from that division/agency. Some day I have to scan that ad. I have a copy in storage. I was told they still have it hanging in the corporate office.
