AND WITHOUT QUESTION RONNIE WAS TOLD BEFORE THE SHOW THAT THE WINNER WOULD BE JAY CUTLER.. I TELL YA THERE ARE MORE POLITICS IN THIS LITTLE SPORT THAN THERE IS IN THE WHITE HOUSE. RONNIE'S WHOLE DEMEANOR THROUGHOUT THE SHOW WAS "NOT HIMSELF". ALWAYS LOOKING DOWN AT THE FLOOR FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW, HIDING PER SE THROUGHOUT THE OLYMPIA RATHER THAN BEING CONFIDENT. BY THE WAY WHEN YOU SEE THE VIDEO THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH HIS BACK...THOSE SHOTS WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE HIS MUSCLES ARE FLAT ON THE LEFT SIDE ARE NOT ON THE VIDEO. HE IS FULL AND BIG AND VASCULAR IN THE VIDEO. I DON'T SEE ANY QUAD TEARS AS SOMEONE SAID. HIS LEGS ARE HUGE AND VERY CUT. LIKE ALWAYS THE MUSCLES SEEM TO HANG OFF OF HIS BACK BECAUSE OF EXTREME DEVELOPMENT. THERE IS SOME SMALL ISSUE WITH HIS TRICEP...I DON'T THINK HE TORE IT...I THINK HE HAS A PINCHED NERVE AND IT IS CAUSING HIS TRICEP TO LIE A LITTLE FLAT. OUTSIDE OF THAT HIS PERFORMANCE WAS ON POINT AND THE MOSES SKIT WAS TERRIFIC...REALLY BROKE UP THE MONOTONY OF JUST SEEING EVERYONE JUST COME OUT...POSE...AND THEN LEAVE. THE FINAL CLUE THAT RONNIE KNEW HE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO RELINQUISH THE CROWN WAS DURING THE FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT THE WHOLE TIME RONNIE PRACTICALLY HAD HIS BACK TO THE AUDIENCE AND KEPT FIDGETING...NOT OUT OF NERVOUSNESS, BUT WHAT APPEARED LIKE ANGER/DISGUST HE WAS BEING FORCED TO GIVE UP THE CROWN. THIS WAS DEFINELTY A GIFT FOR CUTLER TO SHUT HIM UP...HIS IFBB SPEECH WAS ANNOYING ALSO. NEXT YEAR RONNIE WILL TAKE THE CROWN BACK AND THEN RETIRE...UNLESS HE WANTS TO GET TO 10 OLYMPIAS THEN RETIRE. IN ANY CASE RONNIE WILL FOREVER BE THE MAN AND THE KING OF THE OLYMPIAS....

Bodybuilding is judged by people who use judgement. It is always going to be controversial when it is a subjective assessment. Ronnie has eyes and friends. They could have told him he wasn't quite ready. I think the photos don't lie and we see that Jay is in better condition overall and definitely from the back. That used to be Ronnie's strength. So, for Jay to better him there makes him Mr Olympia. Oh, Jay's calves are heaps better, too.

I agree though Ronnie did not look confident.
Compare the pics of him last year to him of this year every pose last year he opened up, had either a cocky smug look on his face or a vicious stare, this year he looked all over the place and looked un-confident.

When I saw the front double biceps I thought, 'oh, oh, it is Ronnie's again!'. However, when I saw them from the back it was Jay who looked the best. Who would have thought that? Props to Jay for working like crazy for the whole year. Ronnie trained for 6 months and maybe lifted too heavy. He came in huge but not as cut as last year. End of the story. The IFBB judges do not award first place to size alone. If you miss the condition you don't win. In retrospect, Jay was probably deserving in 2001 but that is now history.
