What's up with Newsweek?

Anyone notice anything fishy about this week's issue of Newsweek?

They used Annie Liebovitz for the cover. Nothing wrong with that of course, ...she's a brilliant photographer,
...but it just made me wonder... hmmmm. Especially since they used a different cover for all their other markets.



This Liebovitz cover is what they used in the US market...











This is the cover that was used everywhere else.

Makes ya wonder, ...is there something they're trying to hide from the American people?

LOL... no, I agree.  They are doing everything they can to not remind Americans that we are seriously getting our asses kicked in both countries.  it's been 5 years now. Insane.

QALAT, Afghanistan U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan guerrilla war can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Taliban and their supporters into the Afghan government.

jag, have you ever watched 'who killed john oneill'?  completely blew my mind!  would fit the 'let's bring the taliban into the political fray' very well.

Newsweek is conservative IMO.

Or rather, a bit uncontroversial.

Afraid to take some heat.

It's a pity, because they have lots of good journalists.

My guess is as good as anyones, but I'd say they probably didn't want to sway the election in favor of the Democrats with an anti-war cover.

Wanted to stay neutral.

IMO, gutless and opportunistic.

If there is a good story, it should be on the front page, no matter what the consequences.

A journalist shouldn't take into consideration the consequences of his/her actions, just give the facts, be the informant.

MSM is pretty much neutral.

I'd say that the publishers and owners tend to be conservative/right, but the journalists themselves tend to be liberal-center-left.

Generally speaking, of course.

If it balances out, I don't know.

True, but there are also Independent papers and Public broadcasting which tends to be farther left.

I use multiple sources of news to acquire information, so I can find some form of balance.
