What kind of paint to paint your iron?
« on: October 02, 2006, 09:57:41 PM »
I went up to playitagain sports and bought about 200 pounds of 10 lbs standard plates for dumbell workouts at home. except they didnt' have them all in the same color, so some are black and some are grey.  ( at 39 cents a pound I am not complaining ) I want to clean them up and paint them so they all match.  I don't want paint chipping off.  What kind of paint should I use?  How Many Coats?  I was thinking of something black and glossy.

go with an exterior oil based paint, not latex.

oil based will adhere better.

I agree, we're building bodies here, not attractive home decor....

Some of them the paint is coming off, and I don't want the iron to leave orange crap all over my carpet.  Just trying to find the best way to seal them up, and make them look nice at the same time.
