WTF are you talking about TA?

First, the form was not bad at all.  Let's see what you can do.

Next, why do you think it is that virtually all big and strong men train with a little bit of a loose style when curling?  The reason revolves around the physics of the movement.  The "sticking point" in a barbell movement is a function of the position of the barbell as it moves through space.  This sticking point is one of the drawbacks of barbell training but can be partially overcome using a style that is just loose enough to allow one to bypass said point in the ROM.  This allows for more work to be done and thus greater stimulation to the involved musculature.

So, like I said, I will prop my back against a wall and do the same weight for a couple of reps and then I challenge anyone on this site other than Lee Priest and perhaps a few other pros to do any better (yes, this means YOU TA and all of your Troll accounts as well as the other peanut gallery members).

huh, are you talking to me or TA?

as someone said before "train your muscles not your ego"

Sarcasm, errrrrr TA, errrr Steele Pagasus, errr Reardon Metal, errrr whatever, yes, I think I am a strong and a decent sized guy for a natural.  Do I define myself as "big" relative to pro bodybuilders or some of the bigger powerlifters?  HECK NO!  I am not an idiot but you ARE.  My arms measure 18+" cold.  That is a fact.  You can believe it or not.  Tell you what, I will be at the Arnold Classic why don't you make the trek and we can compare arms and then have a little lifting contest?

He actually used very good form in that video. The first few reps were pretty much perfect. It is almost impossible to curl that kind of weight with textbook form. You will start to fall forward if you don't bend your back a little. It's pretty obvious that most of these jealous punks have never trained around strong people.

Wow!  Well, first, I have a video of me with my back against a wall curling 185 lbs on a straight bar for a single.  That was over a year ago and I am stronger now.  Next, the first few reps were done with pretty good form.  MONSTER jealousy by some.  Tell you what, any of you who are talking about the form and think you can come even CLOSE to duplicating what I did I challange you to do so.

......crickets.....chirp ing.....

Right, that's what I thought you morons.

Tell you what, the next time I curl I will get a video with my back against a wall using the SAME weight and I will get at least 2 reps.

One more thing, have any of your cock-suckers (those making snide statements) ever seen anyone other than your 15" arms self curl?  You know, someone like Ronnie or Arnold or just about any pro with any semblance of strength?  Right, those with truly big arms almost always use a slightly loose form when performing heavy curls because they know it is the way to go.

Good to see you with some edge and a sense of humor......carry on!!

I know you are the biggest moron on the boards but if you look again you will see there is a 45, 25, and a 10 on each side which equates to 185 lbs.

Chris,

it`s no question that you put a lot of effort into your sets....that`s is one thing that is important for progressing, "but" also there is a thin line between heavy training and too heavy training. Also the risk of injury is a thing you must think of.....

So, keep motivated, cut down the weights, and progress with a better form (too strict is also not the best option, but do the movements in a decent form).

Keep on pumping !!

You and I will just have to differ on what we consider good form.  My first 4 reps were using good form in my mind.

Chris, with all due respect your form is piss poor. Are you trying to get big or just throw heavy weights around? Don't lose sight of your goals dude. If you enjoy the weight throwing more than getting bigger then fair enough, and maybe you should consider olympic weight lifting, you certainly seem to have the knack for it.

Try this form and see how you get on:

Starting from the standing position, a medium width supinated grip as before. Lean over very slightly so that your shoulder are slightly infront of your waist. Keep your elbows in tight to your sides. Lift the barbell. Keep the elbows still tight in at your sides - don't let them drift forward. This will mean the barbell will have to arc around your fixed elbows, rather than the barbell going straight up in a line and your elbows moving out to cater for this as with your previous form. Your movement will end when your biceps and forearms meet, at approximately 70 - 75 degrees - there will still be a lot of resistance and so you will not be able to rest.

Slowly lower the weight, but don't go to full extenstion, keep resistance upon the biceps, probably25 degrees or so. Repeat until failure, possibly followed by drop sets or forced reps if a spotter is available. Let me know how you get on ;)

Think about this: All your biceps know is how hard to tense. They don't even know what exercise you're doing, let alone how much weight you're swinging around.

Nice in theory & fairly predictable but the reality is that most guys with 20"+ arms use form like this or looser. Very few guys with great arms use the supposedly "better", ultra strict style on curls; for that do scott curls or use an arm blaster.

Common rationale for the stricter style. Actually all the bis care about is whether they're fried at the end of the workout, which can be accomplished just as well using a looser style-Schwarzenegger's fave bi size builder was cheat curls.  ;D

Seem to be confusing shit loads of drugs for good results from poor form ... ;)
