Okay :(

Well are their any good suggestions? I am a female, weight 137 lbs., 5 ft. tall and have a medium bone structure. I am not obese; but I do have belly fat and cellulite. Open to suggestions; also I keep seeing something called ECA?

You see, there we have the problem. medium bone structure? not obese? You need a first important step.

Face it, you're fat.

Gotten over the shock?  ;D Now think about it again. You're fat. You want an easy way out. Fast fat loss, popping pills.
You need to change your life, that's the key. How is your diet, how much do you train?

Forget ANY kind of supplement, it will do nothing for you, until your diet isn't in place and you realize that fast fat loss leads to even faster gaining fat when you come back to the food you normally eat, the soft drinks and the lazy evenings in front of the TV.
Forgive my straight approach, and i may be wrong with some points, but this basically goes for most females.
There is no wonder pill.

Change your life to a healthy diet and lots of sports, THAT's the way to lose fat.  ;)

-Better diet including lower carbs. Try a few different books or programs to find something that you can stay on.

-Daily cardio 5-6 a week. Running's best, or elliptical, treadmill, etc. Hard at first but you'll get used to it.

Oh yes, sorry, i forget to post something constructive.

Maybe you can post your diet and workout plan, then we can work something out for you!

Low carb and healthy fatty acids, lots of cardio is a good start, but it would help if you post your diet and workouts.

Sorry.  ;D ;D

Although it sounds harsh, it's true that you have to put aside self-love and then self-administer "tough love."  It's like an addict, until he or she acknowledges the problem, it cannot be dealt with.

It often takes something more drastic to force a change and create the needed motivation.

I agree. It can be as simple as someone saying to a woman congratulations on your pregnancy when she's not pregnant or someone having a heart attack while they're playing catch with their kids.

In my case, the motivation was a "nudge from the judge."  See "How Bodybuilding Changed My Life" in the History and Memories section . . .

I said that to someone once. hahaahahahahahah

Often it takes a rude awakening to reality to force change, otherwise the same routine is followed and the excuses continue. Weight loss isn't easy for most.

too bad there is no rude awakening on the internet. most people just log off and go to mayhem, where they are told that everything is fine.  :-X

I appreciate the direct approach & tough love; I don't have a problem with that. I think your definition of FAT & my definition of FAT is two different things. I have had 4 children, so yes there is body fat. I am not fat; to me there is a difference. I took a recent pic of how my body looks now; I am not delusional. I know that I do not have the body of a female bodybuilder; but I ain't "Jabba Da Butt" either. I don't expect you to see me the way I see myself, I guess I should be careful who I ask advice from next time.  ???

Thats not fat IMO.

Eat clean, do cardio in the morning, lift weights after work.  Take 25mg of ephedrine and 200 mg of caffeine in the morning before your cardio (45 min), at lunch, and before your workout.  Like I said, eat clean, no carbs except for breakfast and lunch......and a lil then.  You do that you will lose weight.

You really wanna do it you will have to make sacrifices.

Now this is the kind of advice I am looking for; this I can use. Thank you ;)
One question though; Is the ephedrine & caffeine going to make me jittery? I have been taking Lipo-6 or Redline & sometimes I drink NO-XPlode in the morning, is taking the ephedrine & caffeine better?

It took courage to post your pic and keep reading after some tough initial responses.  My hat comes off to you and good luck.

Also, try adding fish oil caps which studies have shown help eliminate triglycerides from the blood and thereby reduce bodyfat.

Tacky; let's be honest you should have thanked anyone here who tries to help you, not just the posts you find more appealing.

Would you have preferred that I went through all of the posts and added the quotes from them all. Would that have made you happy? I merely pulled the last posting, my intentions when I made the statement about "the advice being what I was looking for". I am looking for details, not just critiques; if that makes sense. But if it makes you happy "THANK YOU"; now do you feel better? ;D

CLASSLESS & still UNFRIENDLY. Hardly what to expect from someone benefitting from the experience of others. Common sense, since you're short of it, would be just one thank you, to EVERYONE who posted on your behalf; is that hard to comprehend?

Get to work taking that blah body to something respectable with some hard work, you ungrateful wench.  ;)

I have a father and you're not him; so I do not need a lesson in manners from someone who clearly doesn't have any himself.     I wouldn't  consider you fat.  Same advice as the others here . Once you get used to doing cardio it isn't that bad. I put on some headphones and ride a stationary bike in front of the tv.Time goes by fast. Moderate intensity is the best for fat loss.Just try and keep your heart rate at about 70% of your max heart rate.(max heart rate is 220-your age if I am not mistaken.) 70% of that for AT LEAST 20 minutes per session. It is best to go not  intense for a longer time than it is to go all out for a short time.

I have taken Lipo-6 also and the EC stack has worked better for me.  As far as jitteryness, it does to some people but not to me.  The only thing I notice is a lil bit of drymouth.  I wouldnt take the NO-explode while on the EC stack.....if I am not mistaken I think they counteract each other......I could be wrong though..............but I dont think I am.................I think........   :-\

I dance as my cardio; I do this for anywhere from 30min-1 hour. I used to teach dance so that is something that just comes naturally for me. When I go to the Gym/Rec. Center; I usually use the Elliptical Machine as a warm up for 20min. Then I go into my lifting; so far my max weight using dumbells is 45 lbs. I do 2-3 sets @ 15-20 reps; Stiff-Legged Deadlifts, Sumo Squats, Step-Ups & One Leg Squats. Most of my workouts have been to develop my lower body, I need to start working on my upper body. When I do upper body workouts it usually is with 15 lbs. or 20 lbs; my lower body is much stronger than my upper (Studies show that women are stronger in their legs & men are stronger in their upper body) working on creating that balance. I currently do not have a barbell so all of my workouts are done with free weights; I do chest presses, bicep curls, pectoral flyes & pull-overs.

I have been taking all the same supplements that my husband takes; Tribulus, DHEA, Nitrix, Cell Mass, True Mass, Omega 3-6-9, Redline, Muscle Milk, No-Xplode, BCAA & Glutamine along with who knows what else. My eating habits are not as structured as I would like; I sometimes won't eat (I know this is bad), I eat a lot of fruits & veggies.I don't a lot of junk like cookies, cake or candy and I really don't eat fast food that often either. I love carbs, this is the one area that I know I need to work on. I don't have a routine persay and I think that is where I am defeating myself. I have been reading through some of the other posts and I have noticed people mentioning a schedule or planning everything. I need help with establishing what types of meals are best to eat for my goals and what workout routines are going to give me the best results in a considerable amount of time (I know Rome wasn't built overnight). ;D

Well that is a brief overview of my habits.

I am in the process of weening myself of off the Lipo-6 right now because I am having caffeine withdrawal symptoms. I am going to begin again, but this time I am going to cycle on/off. I read that you benefit better this way because your body won't develop a tolerance. Thanks for the info. :)

Use the Lee Priest approach.  Diet hard (I would even use the Lipo-6 on a month on mont off approach) and then have a cheat day where you pig out on that day.  My girlfriend used this approach to some extent.  Ditch some of these supplements.  Use protein with less calories and you really don't need to boost test levels IMO.  I would do running intervals and swimming on intervals.  If you want more info on that PM me.

My view is that tribulus is worthless, but even if it did work, why would a woman (con-competitor in BB'ing) want to take a supplement designed to promote the hormone (LH) associated with testosterone production?

Back to basics sweety,

supplement => something that completes or makes an addition .

I rather emphasise the second part,
treat supplements as an addition cause you can do a lot with food without something extra's. Make sure you not only comprehend the con's and pro's of the basic three, carbohydrates, protein and fat, but that you also practise them, and after search the right supp.

haha.

No i'm not fat. I'm not in tiptop condition right now, but i am far from average, not to speak of being fat.

As what goes for spelling, ooops, sorry about the typo. English isn't even my first language, maybe we could have this conversation in japanese, german or french and see how you do.

You're just mad because i called you fat, which you are by my standards. And regarding the fact that this is an bodybuilding board, you are obese.  ;D ;D ;D

So quit your little comments and get over it.  :-*

As for the raunchy-comment...
If i haven't seen raunchy yet, i'd rather miss the chance of a slightly overweight mother of 4 showing me what raunchy is, thank you.
I have a perfectly beautiful girl at home.  ;D :-*

now you'd better be on the treadmill, honey.  ;D :-* :-*

Me and my husband read some where that the Tribulus made the body produce more testosterone which is suppost to increase blood flow to the muscles when you weight train. I figured if it would help him and he really doesn't need it then maybe it would be good for me because females don't produce enough test. I used it to help make the muscle groups that I worked be bigger faster. :-\

Like I said, tribulus is probably a non-factor.  A woman seeking to boost testosterone is a little unnerving (think of the opposite, a man trying to boost estrogen).  If your voice starts getting deeper or you start growing a beard . . .

We don't buy our suppliments from GNC; we go to Value Nutrition or Fitness Emporium. ;)

Neither him or myself take all of the supplements listed at the same time in the same day. He is not "juiced"; although we both have thought about it. He is trying to gain weight, right now he is about 196 lbs. & 6'5" tall. He has a rather high metabolism; always has. Not to mention; I am way too nosey for him to have something in the house and I not find it or know about it. I know that he is curious, we both are; I wanted it because I read that it accelerates fat loss and promotes muscle growth when you workout. When I said "who know what else"; that was a figure of speech, to say that over the years we have tried and used so many different supplements. I know what the supplements are supposed to do; I think that sometimes we use them the wrong way or at the wrong times. ???

Firstly: You still have time to get in kickass shape for the summer 2007.

Secondly: Don't fool yourself thinking you're in better shape than you really are.

You're asking questions about burning fat.

Too many females focuses on "burning" fat, and loses focus on getting stronger, increasing the muscle mass and increase the stamina.

If improving all these factors, the fat will "burn" off.

Too many women are stuck on the threadmills when they instead should be doing squats, deadlifts, shoulderpresses, incline benches and other big compound excersises to improve the physique.

Don't become one of these misguided fools. Hit the gym with intensity, and be grateful for all those on this thread that were brutally honest about your physique and suggestions.

Brownnosers who tells you that you're not fat.. You can get that stuff elsewhere. Here? Here you'll get plenty of good advice to look great for the summer.

A piece of advice for you: Get a ricecooker. Next best thing to sex.

Okay, I think I am getting EVERYONE'S point.  :-*

No disrespect, but it's clear you do not have an understanding of the supplements you are taking or you wouldn't be taking some of them. ANYTIME.

I have not taken any supplements other than Omegas & Mutli's for about 30-45 days now. I started doing further research on each of the products. I was advised to take some of these supplements by a personal trainer; that is one of the reasons why I took them. I assumed he knew what he was talking about sense building & sculpting bodies is what he does. ::)

Hedgehog, I never stated or even insinuated that I was in shape. I know that I am not in fit condition, but I refuse to let anyone tell me that I am fat when I know that is not my case. I don't give a DAMN who says it. ::)

Next time I will be more mindful of how I phrase a question, I am not looking for a quick fix. I am looking for best practices from experienced people; routines & nutrition habits that have been tried & true. I have chosen to change my lifestyle overall, not just to look good for one summer.

I continue to be open to all constructive criticism! :-*

A safe, effective, and ethical trainer should not be recommending several of the items you've mentioned, especially to a female.  Not to mention, mixing various stimulants  >:(  If he is an "employee", management should be made aware of his practices....

Totally agree here, Condi!

A trainer is absolute bullshit when he recommends ANY kind of supplement to an overweight training newbie with no experience and diet not in check.

Then why the hell did you title the thread   " Burn Body Fat (Quickly)?"

You came on here and asked for advice, and then when we give it to you...you don't want to hear it. Nobody told you what you wanted to hear so you got a little defensive. It is sort of annoying when someone asks for help and then rolls their eyes at the advice they are given.

haha, but come on, aren't ALL overweight women like this??

Everyone, no really EVERYONE that is fat and comes up to me for advise reacts the same.
You try to find kind words to tell them that they are probably eating to much, and they say no. You ask, well then, why are you overweight and they tell you that they drink 3 liters of coke every day, you tell them to lay off the sugar and they go mad.

They don't want to hear it. They ask for advice for losing fat and then tell you they feel perfectly fine the way they are and that they are confident.  ;D ;D

Oh boy, i hate fat people.

If you noticed in one of my most recent posts; I stated that I would be more mindful of how word my questions.

Next time I will be more mindful of how I phrase a question, I am not looking for a quick fix. I am looking for best practices from experienced people; routines & nutrition habits that have been tried & true. I have chosen to change my lifestyle overall, not just to look good for one summer.

I didn't ask for personal critiques about my body; my intention was to ask for nutritional advice, workout routine advice that has been proven to be effective for getting into shape. I have gotten a TON of GREAT ADVICE & then I have gotten a lot FAT JOKES & WISE CRACKS. ???

I became defensive because of the personal attacks, not because of the supplement advice or the mention of cardio and eating habit changes. I know I need to change my eating habits & workout; I want suggestions on:

What the best foods/healthiest suggestions are to eat?

The best times of day to eat?

If I should eat carbs?

If I do eat carbs, when should I stop?

Since I am a beginner, what fitness regimen is recommended?

How much cardio should be done & how often?

Menu ideas for a full day, how have some of you changed your eating habits; what are you eating for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Snacks?

These are the types of questions I have & quite a few of you have already answered some of these questions already. I appreciate that. ;)

I was not intending to come off as an asshole, but when you have people telling things that you know are not true about yourself; what do you do?

I am not in shape & I am not in denial about it. So NO, I did not need the Peanut Gallery's personal opinions about my size; I need advice and suggestions to make positive and healthy changes.

Once again, for those of you who just answered the question and gave me ADVICE & SUGGESTIONS that I can apply to changing my body; THANK YOU ALL!!! :D

A piece of advice for you: Get a ricecooker. Next best thing to sex.

Question: What's with the ricecooker? I have seen several mentions of a ricecooker on different boards.

Another Question: What exactly is ECA Stack? What is it used for and how do you use it? Someone suggested that I use it. I do know that the "E" is for Ephedrine & the "C" is for Caffeine"; I thought Ephedrine & Caffeine were similar? ??? I still haven't figured out the "A".

What the best foods/healthiest suggestions are to eat? Lots of lean protein like chicken, tofu; unsaturated fatty acids from fish, avocado; lots of vegetables like broccoli, eggplant, zucchini, ...

The best times of day to eat? six to eight small meals a day, eat every 3 hours at least

If I should eat carbs? If you want to lose weight, cut the carbs. Absolutely NO pasta, no white bread, NO sugar. Brown rice, oatmeal, full wheat bread, quinoa, if you want pasta, then japanese soba are fine

If I do eat carbs, when should I stop? When should i stop?? Don't start, then you don't have to stop

Since I am a beginner, what fitness regimen is recommended? middle intensity, 10-12 reps. work whole body about twice in ten days, means split body into training A and B, then do it 3 times a week alternating.

How much cardio should be done & how often? 4-5 times a week, medium intensity 3-40mins

Menu ideas for a full day, how have some of you changed your eating habits; what are you eating for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Snacks?
maybe later

I disagree with cutting carbs.

Instead: Make sure the carbs you get are good, slowly digesting. Such as brown rice, quinoa, and every now and then whole-grain rice. Adding plenty of veggies to the diet.

That's why I mentioned the ricecooker. It will help you get into the habit of eating brown rice often. ;D

Allright, i´m not into spoonfeeding, but here goes...

When you wake up take BCAA (branched chain amino acids) go for a 30-45 min walk (outdoors is better, for the air).

When you come home eat you´re first meal:6 egg whites, bowl of oatmeal, glass of orange juice+multivitamin, fishoil and extra vitamin-c (1000mg)

+3 hours:
lunch:
chicken breast, salad, water

+3 hours:
1 cup cottage cheese, 1 apple (don´t peel it), water

+1-2 hours:
workout: 2 body parts day 3 exercises/3 sets per exercise
Monday: shoulders, bi´s, abb´s
Tuesday: legs
Wednesday: off
Thursday: chest+tris
Friday: back+calves+abb´s
after workout:
post workout shake (50 grams maltodextrin+50 whey isolate)

+1 hour
small beef steak+ cup of rice

+ 2 hours
1 cup of allmonds

SLEEP!

Repeat, NO cheating!

Ps. As a thank´s you could send me "a home movie"

VERY SMALL CUP!

I should have been more accurate, of course i didn´t mean a "small bowl" like one would eat rice but more like a handfull (50 grams). I guess a "cup" isn´t so accurate...

Well, i'm sure as you have probably seen/read, its good to eat a lot, but small meals, throughout the day.  Easier for your body to burn it all off without there being any excess to turn into fat.  Also, whenever I stop seeing progress or start to get into a slump as to why i'm not losing weight anymore, I just reflect on the quote "You didnt get fat overnight, you wont lose it overnight."  Key is to stay on track.  When you don't want to run or do anything active is when you need to move your ass and force yourself to do it.  And the rest of your day will seem just that much brighter.

This really would not be practical for her.  Someone of her size is going to be in the 1200 calorie range.  I suggest she try this simple method to get started (tweak later).  Use a 10/20/30 plan (not absolute, but a general range).  10g fat / 20g protein / 30g carb per meal.  Figure 4 meals - each 10/20/30.  Take one meal and divide it in half.  Eat 3 meals and the divided meal as 2 snacks.

Wouldn't this method be the equivalent to eating something every 3 hours? What do you use to measure the fats/proteins/carbs? I read a book called "The 3-Hour Diet" by Jorge Cruse and this is similar to what he was taking about in his book. I appreciate the info, just help me to comprehend better what you are suggesting.

You´ll do you´re cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach +bcaa´s and by afternoon/early evening you have had enough fuel to lift heavy weights. Morning=burn fat evening=build muscle. (In a nutshell)

As long as that "something" includes fat, protein, carbs within the 10-20-30 guideline (it would be 5-10-15 for a snack).

Netzer puts out a fairly comprehensive paperback of food counts.  Put it on your X-mas list  ;)  Use a digital scale to weigh portions.  Another great X-mas gift.

A typical breakfast which would fit the above profile would be:

4 egg whites and 1 whole egg omlette with your choice of veggies (diced peppers, onions, etc.) cooked in 1 teaspoon olive oil
approx. 21g protein - 10g fat

2/3 C cooked oatmeal (steel cut is best)
approx. 18g carb

1 C strawberries
approx. 10 carb

A typical snack could be:
A stick of string cheese and about a cup (20) of grapes
approx. 5g fat 9g protein, 16g carbs

I thought it was better first thing in the morning?

The best time is when you will do it consistantly.

I think I am beginning to see what you are saying, I think I could do this. I have been trying to eat every 3 hours, but I am on the go a lot. It is probably easier for me to lift in the evening that way my husband can spot me, I usually lift in the mornings after he is gone to work.

Question: What do you suggest as a replacement for Oatmeal; I can't stand oatmeal? :-X

I am going to look for the book you suggested, Thanks ;D

Okay here's the answer you have been looking for. Pre contest I use this method of cardio to burn fat off my body with amazing results. It's called interval training. Do you have 35 minutes to devote to cardio? First you want to start out with a 5 MINUTE warm up. About 2 1/2 minutes into the warm-up start working towards your first work phase. This is calculated as 65% of your predicted max heart rate. You will maintain this from the 5 minute mark to the 10 minute mark. Then you'll go to your 2nd work phase of 85% of your predicted max heart rate. Hold this at 10 minute to 15 minute mark. At 15 minute mark you will drop back down to your phase 1 work level which is 65% of your predicted max heart rate. You will do 3 cycles of this. The last 5 minutes will be a cool down. Done correctly, this method burns fat and preserves your muscle, thus leaving you lean with full muscle bellies. If you east somthing at night you shouldn't have, do 15 minutes of cardio before eating in the morning... Let me know how it works out for you!

what is your exercise and diet routine right now...there are plenty of answers to losing fat and muscling up but what are YOU willing to do?  So many people want to dump pills down there throat and get skinny but are unwilling to go to the gym and move their ass....you don't need supplements, you don't need pills, you don't need ECA stacks...you need motivation and a desire to achieve what you set out to do...you want to lose fat and gain muscle? get a gym membership...and go four to five nights a week for the rest of your life..you'll see phenomenal changes in no time at all...if you don't know anything about the exercises buy a book...or watch a training video.  You have someone giving you 65% of your predicted max heart rate...85% of your blah, blah, blah...and then you take your MAX OT and divide it by your predicted rep/max range...jesus..get on the treadmill, turn it up to 5.0 and run, run, run, and run...get to the market...and buy salad, lean meats, and cut your sugar and garbage food intake..it's simple as that...and you don't need the MAX OT bullshit, and a scientific calculator to figure it out.

Well, to answer your questions:
1. I am not looking for a "Quick" fix; the question I posed was worded incorrectly.
2. I have a Flat Bench, Total Gym, Smith Machine, Free Weights and an Incline/Decline Bench; I am willing to do the work! :-*
3. I had been misinformed by many different people with regards to how to get into shape, be fit and healthy.
4. To be honest; right now I do not have a dedicated program, that is what I am setting myself up on right now.
5. My eating habits are a concern because I have read many different books: "Low Carb Eating", "Food Combining" and "Eating by your Blood Type". I am beginning to get information overload. ???

I appreciate you keeping it simple and to the point; I plan to begin implementing my own combinations based off of all of the great and insightful information. I am beginning to see that sometimes you have to find what works for you; and you only know this by trying different methods. I plan to move full steam ahead after the 1st of the year.

Thanks Again!!

LMAO ;D

Just a side note on you motivation...

I'll start full throttle by the 1st of the year is the reason you got fat in the first place.

Life is not tomorrow, it's now.

Cut all sugars add some protein and get training, full power from now on.
The fine tuning can be done in the weeks up ahead.

Never say next week or tomorrow, do it now.
That's a keypoint to success in life.

You are correct. I actually have been making quite a few changes, I have been doing 45min of cardio every morning, I try to lift if I get time, I have increased my water intake, I have weened myself off the supplements (except: Glutamine, BCAA, Omega's & Multis) and I try to eat 3 balanced meals & 2 snacks consiting of protein, veggies & a small amount of carbs. I have cut out the junk food. I am fitting things in where I can due to the fact that I am up at 4:30am and running all day and possibly getting to bed by 10-10:30pm.

I see you have this strong desire to continue to call me fat; I am not sure if this is your way of motivating me or you just like insulting people, either way it's all good. I know who I am and what I am.

Thanks for the motivational speech!

Why is he calling you fat? Because you are.

It's that simple.

Using other wordings, "how you got to your current shape" or such, is just delusions, and won't help you much.

Look at it this way mate, you will be in good shape by the time you hit the beach 2007.

FWIW, I believe moderation is key with everything, so even though your ambition to do cardio every morning is commandable, I would suggest perhaps doing it only on non-training days, in order to keep life enjoyable.

Remember, you're in this for the long run.

Good on ya!

Actually, I had been debating if I should show off my multi-linguistical skills. ;D
I don't speak or write in Japanese, but my two brother's do; so I had to get them to do that part. That's what took so long. All the other's are me. :-*

VERY SMALL CUP!

I should have been more accurate, of course i didn´t mean a "small bowl" like one would eat rice but more like a handfull (50 grams). I guess a "cup" isn´t so accurate...
You might want to change that to 1/4 cup...but that's still a bit too much for a cutting diet, and too late in the day...just an FYI from someone with major credentials...

Yeah but i was trying to give her A DIET that she could stay ON without going mad, and i think the combo of protein/fat is pretty ideal for a "late snack", that could sustain her for the night.

Mimi, about the japanese, let me guess you´re half asian right?
I was just wondering because, in one of the pics you´re hair shows and asian girls often have that kind of hair...
Hope i didn´t sound like a freak...

Seriously is ephedra still available anywhere?  I thought it was banned a couple of years ago, but it sounds like everyone's still using it.

You can buy ephedrine hcl, which is better than the herbal version,at gas stations and truck stops. It is sold as asthma medication but is taken to stay awake.

Yes, I have printed off a few of the articles; I have been making a eating schedule & workout routine schedule based off of the info that I have gathered.

Not that I know of; my two brother's have been speaking & writting in Japanese for a long time now. They are both Anime Geeks :D, they are both artists. Martial Arts has been a big part of our lives so I guess you could say that we love the culture; my family loves to travel.

In the pic where you see part of my ponytail, you will notice a pair of Nunchakus & a Wooden Kung Fu Broadsword. I also bought my husband two Wooden Katana Bokkens for training. I am of mixed nationalities but I don't think I have any Asian in mix. :-\

No; you don't sound like a freak, you just sound curious. :)

Wow, currently we only collect wooden training weapons because of our children; once they get a little older we will get them trained on the real thing. My brothers collect real weapons, I am trying to get them to get me a pair of Sai's.

Everything is going well, thanks for asking! :D

Happy Holidays to you too!!
