I hope so, "Rusty Jeffers" sounds like some STD
-
No. I predict that they will judge that contest (more) fairly. The reason is that the Ironman has been around for a long while; 16 years I think. It is a smaller show but it has a kind of institutional credibility that they have to be mindful of and protect. By contrast the “2006 Masters Professional World Champion” had no history, no credibility to maintain, and no future prospect. That contest never existed before and will never be staged again; that alone has the scent of fraud.
I'm not saying Rusty should or will win, but the coming Ironman can boost its credibility with honest placings.
-
HE'LL GET SCREWED yeah, but i rather look like him and get the fucked over at shows, than look like that fat shit tamali, and get gifts.
-
He'll get screwed for sure.
Kamali on the other hand, he's been getting gifts ever since that day he supposedly beat Cicherillo at the Nationals in 1999.
I wonder what he did to get that win? :-X
Absolutely ridiculous too, Kamali wasn't even close to beating Cicherillo. Kamali as usual sporting his 16 1/2 inch guns, totally dominated by Cicherillo's leg sweep and symmetry, can you say PWNED?

-
It depends on where Rusty wants to place in the event. In order to place high, I would say G4P is in order. Good luck.

Has any pro ever tried beer before a contest?

yep chic owned him in 99 for sure.

No GH gut = no high placing
Facial hair = low placing
bad combination for Rusty

Wow. That is bodybuilding, right there.
-
I can't define "lines" and "symmetry".
But I know them when I see them.
-
I don't think there was a conspiracy at the Masters regarding Rusty, but that each judge individually decided they had to score him low because of his Carl Hardwick past. They couldn't be seen as voting for a gay icon. But the judges really underestimated the fans' reactions, especially on the InnerTubes.
But what is it that made Rusty persona non grata? The judges know all about the people on stage. They know which pros are gay, which pros are doing prostitution. They know who's done the J/O videos. It doesn't seem to affect those bodybuilder's placings.
Rusty's crime was that he is a celebrity. While he is straight, he is very well known in the gay community. He's Jim French's Colt Magazine's most famous model. Most every gay guy over 30 knows who Carl Hardwick is. If they don't know the name, they'd certainly recognize a pic of him. The judges were afraid of the headline "Carl Hardwick wins IFBB Masters".
But because of the reaction of the fans to his 8th place finish it will be harder (but not impossible) for the judges to do it again. It's up to the audience at the Ironman to make sure it doesn't.

whats bad is he looks younger then trey brewer

Are you SUGGESTING that BB.com staged a contest to buy their boy Bob a nice shiny plastic trophy?? :o
-
Is that Rusty?
damn, dude looks young as hell. He has the fountain of youth, him and Vince.
that mustache added 15 years to his face

If I could look like a pro, it would be like him :o

lol, why do you have Alexxx as your avatar?
-
Do you guys think the judges will screw Rusty at the Ironman too ?
I don't know... if he lets them, do you think he'll place higher?
-
He looks really great. But looks like he has a bit of water retention problem on the contest day.
Hope he do well.
-
lol, why do you have Alexxx as your avatar?
cause he is scared to compete against a teenager (me) at the mr.montreal ;D
-

he's a few years younger than me, but all through the 90s, from the Colt Magazine photos, I figured he was 10 years older than me. but then I was quite the twink well into my late 30s, and I doubt Rusty was ever a twink.

Everyone reads getbig.
Ask anyone what the biggest judging sham of 2006 was.
You'll see a little clown waving.

Rob we need to talk business bro

Exactly !
the more we talk about it, the more the judges will stop fucking up the placings >:(

I hope not the guy has a great physique......

It wouldn't surprise me if he did.

It could be put on every year for the next 10 years...all it needs is a promoter willing to put up the sanction fee and prize money...
Do it yourself, promote the hell out of it...get involved.

If I were to get involved in such a contest, or more specifically, if I were to sponsor or put up money, I would be invested in the outcome and expect to have influence on the final placings. And that brings us back to the problem with the outcome of the “2006 Masters Professional World Champion.” :-\
-
GetBig has influence to make some real positive changes.
Remember what John Romano said after the Mr Getbig and the stupid pic of fake amature Phou Phoulan with the womans wig on appeared in his magazine making us all look like fools. "You guys underestimated yourselves."
-
I hope not he is the most under rated pro out there right now.

You're not making any sense....so what was the "problem with the outcome"? What conflict do you imagine there was?
-
I think Chick deserved the victory..... bodybuilding is not only about aesthetics..... though personally I would rather have Rusty's physique

Take yourself out of the equation, if you can. Any objective person—even those who know nothing about bodybuilding—can see the problem with Rusty placing eighth. If you can’t see the problem with the placings . . . there is no point in continuing the dialogue. :(
Once the credibility of the placing is very obviously compromised, the contest has no credence. I suspect the Ironman will go a decidedly different route.
-
Is this shit between Chic vs. Rusty should've won that contest any similar to ARNOLD vs. SERGIO??
Get over it already, there's 1,000 more shows in the future. Cry babies c'mon show some coconut balls hard like steel
-

if only that were true. There had not been a pro Masters competition since 2003. Doesn't look like there will be one this year.

Your STILL not saying what you think the problem is (was).....you're talking about sponsorsips, judging, etc....spel it out already.
If your contending Rusty should have placed higher...your right...I think he should have placed higher also.
What route will the Ironman go? Rusty will place 12-13th, as he should...and then what?? Another conspiracy?

You could never beat Rusty in a fair contest.
-
He will only be screwed if Chic is competing
-
You could never beat Rusty in a fair contest.
I competed against Rusty many times before the MWC...and beat him every time...were al those contests unfair as well?
-
No just the last one
-
and before you get all bent out of shape over this one. It is not a personal attack, just an opinion. You still won the title.
-

You think Rusty being placed 8th in that contest does not hurt the credibility of the judging? That is just ludicrous. There is no way any subjective judge could place Rusty in eighth. Claude presented one of the worst packages to ever step on a pro stage in that show. Yet , he places ahead of Rusty, who should have been in AT LEAST second place.

No probably not. But the last one was, thats a fact. Everyone knows it but you. Give Manion some truth serum and ask him.
-
So where would you have placed Rusty, Keith?

Of course it does...
That being said...it's a preference. Rusty was soft during the PJ...some judges will automatically mark you way down for not being conditioned, and will place more conditioned guys ahead of you even though they have less symmetrical/ balanced physiques.
Beleiev me..I had my share of it for a looong time. I clearly had the better physique, better symmetry, better proportion, better balance....but soft....and I was placed accordingly.

Isnt it funny how people seem to forget that you didn't get your share of fair decisions in the 90's? Your victory last year was well deserved and IMO overdue.
-
Chic.............why do you bother answering these clowns?? It was clear to me (yes, I was at the show....4th row center) that you were by far, the best that day..................... .......it wasnt close.
I had Rusty in the top 5 also..............and Nathan Wonssley. You still looked like you could compete with the reg guys, the other guys looked their age.........maybe that was the diff.?
-
Chick, what do you think of all the glute nonsense?
Do you think the conditioning factor led to Paco getting third behind you at the NOC?
-
Chick, what do you think of all the glute nonsense?

It's been out of control for some time now....having lines in your glutes are given more consideration than HAVING calves, or a balanced physique, etc....
If I were a judge...I would reward the better physique over the better conditioning all day long, hence my placing of Rusty in the top 5......
The emphasis on glutes has done more to ruin physiques and alter placings, than any other single factor in the last 10 years...
-
I agree Bob, it sucks seeing guys like Troy Alves get dropped because of their butt condition. Of the only two guys who really had that look (Ronnie and Tommi T) only one looks good overall. I don't think they should be smooth but lines in your ass is stupid.

Troy Alves is not lacking any development in that area :-X

He gets marked down for his glutes, McGough wrote about it and how Wheeler and Priest had the same fate.

not surprised.. from the waist up his physique is flawless..
-
So where would you have placed Rusty, Keith?
I would have placed him first or second, but I would vote for symmetry and proportionality over mass
-
I was surprised at the placing for Rusty in that show. I thought he looked really great. In my opinion he should have been much higher. However as I sit here today I do not know what the judges saw then.
What I do know, and this is getting to be a very tired subject, is that Bob won, no question, way out in front. His conditioning, his symmetry, overall, he came in better than everyone else at that show on that day.
I have said this before, if you aren't there, you don't know. It is a whole lot different than sitting on your couch with your computer trying to sound like you know what you are talking about.
Of course not everyone can get out to a show in New York, or the Iron Man or the Arnold. But you can get to your local shows. Do so, you will learn a lot.
And then you can catch the big shows on BodyBuilding.com :)

I was there also. seeing the competitors side by side, Rusty wasn't a threat, especially against the bigger guys, ie chic, Mcrary and Pavel. I thought it was between Chic & Pavel at the prejudging. Pavel was alot softer at the night show.
Many people make the mistake of looking at pictures of two competitors and saying this person should have beaten that person. Some physique's photograph much better than others. Rusty looks great by himself. Much like I think shawn and flex has a much prettier physique than Dorian. When Dorian's on and you put him next to them you can't see them. Rusty lacks size and was smooth compared to the other guys. he has better shape and symetry, but when he stands next to Chic, he dwarfs Dusty. Symetry is great but at that level you need more size. Being at the show and seeing the competitors side by side I thought Rusty was place correctly.

If I could look like a pro, it would be like him :o
He has a very balanced physique. But why not Phil heath?

Hey Rudy, nice to have you here again !
well I like a lot of physiques in the pros, especially the one with large shoulder width and small waist.
guys like Victor Martinez, Milos Sarcev, Rusty, Toney Freeman.
not denying that Phil as an awesome physique tho !!
it's safe to say that EVERY PRO looks very good. in fact the guy who places dead last at a pro show has an awesome physique too. it's just that onstage, standing with the best of the world you expose all your weakness.
Lets take Kamali for example, people say he looks bad onstage. Compared to the other pros, yes.
but if you see Kamali in the street, you will think: "Hey that's one big fucker, great physique"
-

In that case, Pavol should have won!
