Title: Your best lift?????????????
Post by: kiwiol on February 07, 2007, 02:48:34 AM
My best lift is the Deadlift. I've done 7 reps with 525 lbs, off the floor, using straps and a belt at a bodyweight of 215 lbs. I'm a lifetime natural who hasn't even tried prohormones to date, BTW. Let's hear from you bitches. Be careful though, cause if you BS about a lift, the great Sarcasm will crucify you 8)

Well, yesterday I did a 600lbs raw bench press for a single whilst carb depleted and with only 2 hours of sleep the previous say. Is that good?

Seriously though, probably about a 90lbs barbell curl for a few reps at about 70kgs (154lbs). I think I'm naturally strong in the biceps.

damn good lift Kiwi.

Thanks mayne, but I'm a little bitch with my bench, which has always been my worst lift to date ;D. The most I've done is 315 for 2. Squats are not too bad - I've done 405 for a double or something (ass to the floor), but during my normal workout, I just do triple drops - 360 for 4 - 6, dropped to 225 for 8 - 10, dropped to 135 for about 8 - 10. Hahahahaha I'm a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you should consult a guy named Dan18, he brought his bench up from 365 for 4 to 405 for 3 in two weeks, he could help you out.

Maybe someone held Dan's massive head during the 405lb bp thereby transferring the weight of his enormous frontal bone off of Dan and enabling his body to generate the necessary force to push the additional 40lbs?

What are you talking about Dan ??? I'm not a powerlifter at all. When did I ever say I was one? I do incorporate all the 3 powerlifting exercises into my workout, but as far as I'm concerned, they're just a means to an end, not the end in itself.

I dont do 1rep max no more because im scared of tearing something

But at my best i...
benched 365 for 3 (sort of bounced off towel on chest)

Squated 585 for 1

military 245 for 5 or 6

I never really dead lifted until this year Which explains why i have no back.
to date I have only gone up to like 275 for 8 reps. and my lower back still hirts like shit from it. I know its a pussy number but its like i seriously started dead lifting maybe in novemver.

I did these at 6 feet 250 and a lifetime natty.

There's a deadlift competition where I live in a few months and I think I can win my class if I get put up five plates or close to it.  Any tips on how to get a deadlift up in that timeframe?

Grab weight, lift of floor, Repeat with heavier weight.

I've been training on and off for about 11 years now. I must have taken about 4 - 5 years off, collectively, in that time. I've been deadlifting pretty much the whole time and I think that's the sole reason why I'm really thick and separated, especially in my back. It also helped my forearms grow a great deal.

here's the real lifts which are still great
            225 for 5 military
             125's for 6 incline db
8-9 plates per side for deep leg presses
145-155 upright rows, still great weights.

here's the real lifts which are still great
            225 for 5 military
             125's for 6 incline db
8-9 plates per side for deep leg presses
              still good weights, very respectable.

Yes these are all one rep extra bad form.

44 plates is half rep with knee wraps.
150 incline press is a lie. But if Mindspin can, so Can I
135's for 6 reps.
32 plates leg press with friendly berings, 6-8 ¾ reps
225 upright rows, any fucking day of the week.

Dave, I'm in St Louis next Thursday, Friday, wanna train together?

Yeah, I too have a bit of hard time believing JJ's claims of bench and inclines. He's got a decent back, so the 455 might not be that far-fetched though.

in all honesty, i have strayed away from the good ole' bench press...im more a incline smith machine then hammer strength guy now.... like cormier!  i have nothing to prove, but when i was doing bench as a staple of the chest routine, thats how much i could put up...225 for 13 on the same day oh yeah and i was on creatine (if that matters).

bench gets me those lifting headaches...

Check your form bro. ass out, head up high (if your not already)

Also if you aren't built for deading  ie long torso short arms, try deading out of a rack to build up your strength.

Also It's funny there's a strength thread because I had to use retard strength today.
I had to get a television stand with an automated pedestal up 4 flights of stairs today. this fvcking thing weighs 400 POUNDS crated.
My original plan of attack was to take it with a long wheeled dolly with me pushing at the bottom and my helper at the top. After TWO STEPS something pops in his wrist and he's toast. Realizing that the only way it was getting up there now was ME....... I fvcking hulked out, and pushed the thing myself, end over end, all the way to the top.

My right shoulder IS FVCKING KILLING ME right now.

I did 365 on the bench today for a good single, and a wobbly 2nd. That's my best bench so far. It was weird, I warmed up with 135 for 15 like I always do, did 225 for twelve like I always do, tried 275 and got 10, then 315 and got 8, then 335 for 6 or 7, then tried 365.

For legs, my best leg press was 1500-something, but that was last year. I wanna get back up there...

Some movements I'm really strong in some I suck at, I can't hack squat shit.  I've benched 330 twice at about 180 lbs, raw if that means anything.  I've done incline presses with the 130's for 4 or 5 reps.  I do military presses on a smith with about 275lbs, my range of motion is short cause my shoulders have been injured before so I only lower the weight to eye level, if I go all the way down even with very light weight my shoulder hurts for days.  I've leg pressed over 900 for reps, I've maxed out a few machines, I've done standing db curls with the 75's...I used a bit of body english though.  I don't usually go below 6 reps so it's hard to say what I could move if I really wanted to, like I said some movements I suck at.  I don't do flat benches anymore cause my left bicep tightens up when I"m lowering the weight and I've heard of people tearing thiers this way so I avoid it like the plague now.  I can't really squat or deadlift cause of my lower back issues but about 10 years ago at about 170lbs I was doing deads with 455 for reps, I think 6 reps for 3 sets and I've squatted over 300 for reps, ass to ankles.  now no matter what I do my back is killing me when i squat, I don't even try anymore.

let's break down your "military press", 275 in the Smith equals 235 free barbell and to eye level mens take another 60 pounds off all the way down so congrats on your 175 pound press.

The bar on the smith counter balances the weight to a measly 210 pounds. He would be doing a plate on free weights full range of motion.

don't know what I could do, that's why I specifically stated that the range of motion was limited.  I've done the 110lbs dumbbells with a little more range of motion, maybe I could do more but it's a bitch getting them up and getting going when you train by yourself.
