LOL, I could never bad mouth you diesel, I have used your extensive porn collection to many times!

It's the money wasted on stupid shit like taking "in god we trust" off of money that's just plain dumb. Money could be better spent and people need to stop being so sensitive about stuff that really does't matter.

Are you saying we should remove in god we trust?
-
Who pays enough attention to the money to care about that? Sheesh.
Also, ATM machines in America should have English - not "CHOOSE" - as the default language. If there's a mention of 'God' on the money, I just don't have the energy to give a poop.
-
Are you saying we should remove in god we trust?
No just the opposite. We shouldn't spend money or time worrying about stupid shit like whether or not to take the "In god we trust" off there. Although we are a country who's supposed to separate church and state, putting in God we trust on there doesn't make the 2 connected and these people who waste time and money trying to get this off the dollar bill or what ever could take that money and help someone who really needs it, like the person who got laid off from GM and needs to re-training in another field.

much agreed, although the constitution never says seperation of church and state

I agree with you on this man. I say tell them they can pack there shit if they have a problem.
Now if you would just see how bad the United States is being screwed by the current administration me and you could always agree like this. 8)

Yeah that might not happen. In all fairness though, about the only thing I agree with Bush on is the war. I am very dissapointed in the border, taxes, civil unions being allowed and what not. If I didn't realize the importance of the war I would hate Bush as much as everyone else

The only thing I disagree with you there on, MM, is probably Civil Unions-I am for that as opposed to Marriage-otherwise, agree.

I prefer civil unions to marriage but am not a big fan of either

I do totally agree with you on marriage & don't ask, don't tell, but do honestly feel gay couples should be able to have some sort've union.

It's funny how sanctimonious some of the Christians are when it comes to 'marriage', yet piss all over it themselves.

and I love how people like you use those few people to characterize a whole group of people

I think it is a very touchy issue period, and, yes, to some extent do agree with you, Tre that a lot of folk in general just don't take marriage seriously & yes, I do think that's a real shame.

More than half of all Christian marriages end in divorce. You call that a 'few'? That's why you believe only a 'few' people have died during Bushalliburton's illegal war.

I think less than 60,000 people in 4 years isn't bad at all really

The thing is, if someone comes to me and tells me that he's married to his monkey, I'm just not going to waste the time, money, and energy necessary to tell him that he's not allowed to be married to the monkey and that he's not allowed to say he's married to his monkey.
BUT, if two people are living together as domestic partners, they absolutely should be entitled to the same tax benefits as any other married couple. And if the domestic partners want to call the relationship a 'marriage', so be it.
If a man and wife truly love one another and honor and respect their marriage, then what others do in their homes or marriages IN NO WAY takes away from what they (the first couple) are living for. I may not be a religious person, but I do believe in happiness and its pursuit and I respect (and envy) those who achieve it in their homes.
If we're not going to allow them the tax benefits of married couples, then we need to change the tax code to make it fair for all people.

I'm going to surprise you, Tre & say I actually totally AGREE with you on that point.
My prob with saying "marriage" just frankly does come from my religious background, but my faith keeps me sane through the day, so be it.
But, yes, I do honestly believe Domestic Partners are entitled to those same rights & some religious friends have really snapped at me for my beleiefs, but I do feel the way I feel.
I just beleive good people are good people whether they are gay, straight or otherwise-and actually I applaud gay couples who want to committ to a more faithful lifestyle than drinking, drugs and partying.

I don't know if you are married but I lose money being married. This year I would have gotten $2600 if single, but married I pay in $54

I have a bit of a background in Taxes.
It's hard to see how this could've happened. You get a larger standard deduction for filing joint, and you can claim her as a dependent.
The only thing I can think of is that she made some good money, and that put you in a higher bracket.

Hey TL-How come I can always magically hear "Boys Are Back In Town" when your posts arrive... :)

You are right, she works. I mean I know if you are married with kids and a stay at home wife you definately make more money.

Screw that.
It's a good thing you make her ass work. On this, you are a good American and I thank you.

Says you! My wife stayed at home for over a decade. We do much better with her in the workforce.

Depends Daycare is pretty expensive, my sis works at one I forgot how much it is like $800 a week after school program.

You can file separately, if you'd like.
I recommend sitting down with a CPA to prepare your taxes. It may cost you $150, but if he finds more deductions for you, then it was well worth it. The tax advantage is one of the major motivators for me to get married.

Daycare is outrageously expensive, but a woman earning a professional salary far exceeds the cost of daycare. That said, the benefits (to the kids) of staying home far outweigh the money.

It is ruining the states to a certain degree. I mean you can't even argue against illegals without being labled a racist. ::)

Any good Christian should oppose the word God on currency. It's blasphemous, if you really think about it. No other civilized country (are there any in fact?) would put the word God on their money. Perhaps it's indicative of what Americans really worship?

I'm a Christian. I think it encourages people to excuse their bad behavior in the name of God when it's written on currency. Do you think Jesus would have approved? Considering what he felt about the money lenders.
-

I know. Sad though. Coming from another country maybe I notice it more than people who have grown up with it and don't think about it.
-

I don't think I've ever had a discussion about the "In God We Trust" currency issue. It doesn't bother me, one way or the other. I thought you were implying that money and Christianity were incompatible.
My recollection of the money lenders story is Jesus had a problem with money lenders doing their business in church. It's the only time he literally kicked someone's butt while on earth. :) I don't think he had a problem with money lenders per se. But there is a discussion in Proverbs about the borrower being the servant of the lender, which I interpret as a recommendation to avoid debt.

What's funny is that of the 50% of divorces that happen in the US, the majority involve FINANCES.
What we should be teaching our kids in school, is how to use the money that they they make, regardless of the amount, make more money for them. And I'm not talking putting it in a bank and getting 2%, but actual investing for their retirement and future.
Most parents don't even know how to CONTROL their own expenditures and pass that knowledge on to their kids. It's no wonder we are a nation that's always in debt.

I meant on tax return. I'll take the monthly salary anytime though
