It's the money wasted on stupid shit like taking "in god we trust" off of money that's just plain dumb.  Money could be better spent and people need to stop being so sensitive about stuff that really does't matter.

Are you saying we should remove in god we trust?

Who pays enough attention to the money to care about that?  Sheesh.

Also, ATM machines in America should have English - not "CHOOSE" - as the default language.  If there's a mention of 'God' on the money, I just don't have the energy to give a poop.

No just the opposite.  We shouldn't spend money or time worrying  about stupid shit like whether or not to take the "In god we trust" off there.  Although we are a country who's supposed to separate church and state, putting in God we trust on there doesn't make the 2 connected and these people who waste time and money trying to get this off the dollar bill or what ever could take that money and help someone who really needs it, like the person who got laid off from GM and needs to re-training in another field.

Yeah that might not happen. In all fairness though, about the only thing I agree with Bush on is the war. I am very dissapointed in the border, taxes, civil unions being allowed and what not. If I didn't realize the importance of the war I would hate Bush as much as everyone else

The only thing I disagree with you there on, MM, is probably Civil Unions-I am for that as opposed to Marriage-otherwise, agree.

I do totally agree with you on marriage & don't ask, don't tell, but do honestly feel gay couples should be able to have some sort've union.

It's funny how sanctimonious some of the Christians are when it comes to 'marriage', yet piss all over it themselves.

I think it is a very touchy issue period, and, yes, to some extent do agree with you, Tre that a lot of folk in general just don't take marriage seriously & yes, I do think that's a real shame.

More than half of all Christian marriages end in divorce.  You call that a 'few'?  That's why you believe only a 'few' people have died during Bushalliburton's illegal war.

What's a "Christian marriage"?  Half of all marriages end in divorce.

The thing is, if someone comes to me and tells me that he's married to his monkey, I'm just not going to waste the time, money, and energy necessary to tell him that he's not allowed to be married to the monkey and that he's not allowed to say he's married to his monkey.

BUT, if two people are living together as domestic partners, they absolutely should be entitled to the same tax benefits as any other married couple.  And if the domestic partners want to call the relationship a 'marriage', so be it.

If a man and wife truly love one another and honor and respect their marriage, then what others do in their homes or marriages IN NO WAY takes away from what they (the first couple) are living for.  I may not be a religious person, but I do believe in happiness and its pursuit and I respect (and envy) those who achieve it in their homes.

If we're not going to allow them the tax benefits of married couples, then we need to change the tax code to make it fair for all people.

I'm going to surprise you, Tre & say I actually totally AGREE with you on that point.
My prob with saying "marriage" just frankly does come from my religious background, but my faith keeps me sane through the day, so be it.
But, yes, I do honestly believe Domestic Partners are entitled to those same rights & some religious friends have really snapped at me for my beleiefs, but I do feel the way I feel.
I just beleive good people are good people whether they are gay, straight or otherwise-and actually I applaud gay couples who want to committ to a more faithful lifestyle than drinking, drugs and partying.

I don't know if you are married but I lose money being married. This year I would have gotten $2600 if single, but married I pay in $54
