Title: World class figure girls.
Post by: Matt C on May 14, 2007, 06:07:53 AM
With all due respect, Craig Titus was right in his "Undercover Pro" column.  Put a dozen girls on the mall on clen and anavar for 12 weeks and they would look as good as Ms. Figure International.  I have friends, family members, and other people I know who meet this criteria.

I could not tell the difference between Ms. Figure International and Ms. Figure Thunder Bay.  On the other hand (like Titus said), the difference in quality at the local level VS. the national level for bodybuilding and fitness are both very big.

Discuss.

This is because it is a beauty contest. It cannot be so much about the physique in the fitness classes.

exactly been thinking the same thing. many of em look like tanned normal thin women.

i have seen chicks who dont work out look better than the bitches who ingest male hormones and workout 7 days a week.

Eek, excuse me as I rant ;D

There is a world of difference between local and national/pro level of fitness, which the routines display. Local level you will see girls fumbling around doing some daft looking moves at times, no offence intended. Once you hit the high levels, you will see some outrageous moves; full twisting back flips, extreme flexibility, dynamic strength etc. Some pro fitness girls a couple of Europeans I know for a start, are former Olympic level gymnasts. I highly doubt that an average woman could execute a top class fitness routine without years of intensive training. Fitness competitions definitly look 'beauty pageantry' at first glance, but try some of the moves and you will quickly see they require athleticism.

Now, I would not say your points are invalid with figure, a separate division. But there is a world of difference between the skill and talent level required for the 2 divisions...

Some of the fitness girls are almost as athletic as the cheerleaders I see on ESPN.

to be honest i dont even know all the different kinds of fitness events...

some are more like beauty pagents..where its impossible to see any differences in the ladies physiques...just that some are more pretty than others...in some competitions the ladies are allowed to "jump around abit". cant say i understand the concept to 100% lol.

LOL, yeah many people don't ;)

There are 2 totally seperate divisions, figure and fitness, both require the same type of physiques and they both do the quarter turns etc. With figure, that's it...there is no "jumping around", just the bathing suit rounds. Then fitness, there are the bathing suits rounds plus 2 routine rounds, where you have to do various moves, splits, one arm pushups etc..plus many other moves like in the pics I posted.

How long would it take to learn how to do those flips?  At the 2007 Ms. International, one girl flipped across the whole stage.

SF, you are a well known chubby chaser around here. It's no big deal, you just prefer a fat bitch to a fit one. You are in the minority though as far as your preferences go, if you don't believe me go to the store and buy a magazine. ;)

Yes... IF and a big IF they had GOOD genetics and a very well designed training routine/workout. THey would also need previous years of experience of weight training and a spot-on diet during the 12 weeks.
HOWEVER---->
You could NOT take a 22 y/o who had NEVER touched a weight in her life , throw her on clen/OX and expect her to "morph" into Mary Lado.

Indeed fitness takes an incredible amount of athleticism and skill to compete nationally or pro.
All three - figure, fitness, and BB - take alot more than just throwing a girl from the mall on clen and anavar to prepare for and be successful at the level you are talking about.  You could do that with a dozen girls at the mall and none of them would turn out looking like most of the Olympia level figure competitors.

Have we established what it takes to morph average women into Mary Lado?

Uh, yeah you could.  I'm pretty sure my older sister could do that.  Same with Alexxx's sister.  So could tons of other girls I see at the mall, the club, etc.

I could show you a dozen girls who go to my university who could look as good as Ms. International in 12 weeks on clen and anavar.

The difference would be literally indistinguishable to the naked eye.

I would liken it to modern art compared to some crap slopped together by a four year old kid.  That being said, I am not disrespecting the attractiveness of figure girls - I think they all look pretty damn good!  And some would call modern art beautiful so the analogy isn't that bad.  :)

Yay! ;D

Excuse my ranting earlier, but there is just such a vast difference of skill/fitness level and training required for fitness over figure that I have a real pet peeve about the two being considered the 'same'.

As far as putting some 'regular' girls up onstage, I'm sure I'll catch heat for this, but at a beginner/local level I agree. I know a couple of girls who just have great bodies naturally and I swear I could protan them, slap them in a suit and put them onstage tonight...and they would hold their own in figure, at a *beginner/local* level only. At the pro level though, I would disagree. It may look so initially, but all the finer points the pro figure girls have achieved such as overall shape, v-tapers, conditioning, glute/ham tie-ins etc...takes alot of work to achieve. Alot...

I would argue that it takes a lot of work to achieve something that is still not very visually noticeable at all.  Again going back to the example of some modern art masterpiece compared to something done by a four year old kid, and even then, most wouldn't notice.

No disrespect, I think figure girls are a lot more appealing than female bodybuilders who do require a lot more work to develop their physiques.

OK! If you really mean it!  ;D ... I'm not really *new* here, I read but never post...?

I live in NYC, I'm 30, 5'10, I love sports (especially baseball!!! YANKEES) and I compete 100% NATURAL in figure competitions!
My background is gymnastics...I never work out arms...and I am addicted to Oreos from the freezer!
I eat them pre-competition!
The only supplements I take are from bsn
I live for bikinis and Brazilians...and I don't mean the people.

I have no aspirations in this sport other than to have fun - and that is the honest to god truth. That's why, against the recommendations of the powers-that-be...I REFUSE to "put on more muscle." NO THANKS. I'll just live with what working out consistently results in for my body :)

Thats all...I think!

Carry on... :-*

Thanks, and I agree. Figure is far from easy of course, but fitness definitely requires more athletic ability.

figure >>>>fitness     (same benefits , less work ) :)

I actually get greater prizes/$$ than the figure competitors, so that doesn't apply in my region. Plus, it's personal satisfaction anyway, from achieving something that I want to do....'the road less traveled'

This is what I'm talking about...this is a girl I know.  Put her on anavar and clen for 12 weeks and no one in the general public as well as 99%  of fans of bodybuilding who have a definite eye for bodybuilding would be able to tell the difference between her and Ms. International.

I'm not saying that subtle distinction doesn't take years of work, I'm just saying it is exactly that - subtle.

She would look skinny compared to the pro girls after 12 weeks on anavar and clen. I hear what you're saying, but you're overstating the fact. The overdeveloped delts...rounded glutes with do fat/cellulite lines...those things this girl could not acheive in 12 weeks. Maybe she could do damage at the local level, but at the national level she'd need more time.
Title: Re: World class figure girls.
Post by: CQ on May 15, 2007, 05:40:04 AM
I agree with Benny, at a local level, without really seeing what the rest of her body looks like, I would say she could maybe hold her own in figure after 12 weeks of intensive work...but at the ASC level no way. I think your earlier point was good Matt, that some things which may appear to not be that hard, actually are. Below, are pics of the figure competitor who placed 5th in the ASC.....attaining this physique takes a huge amount of effort, time etc..and barring some super human genetics would take years of concentrated efforts..

No way. And you know this how Matt? Because you have performed this "experiment" with SO many women?  Because you have prepped soooooo many figure/fitness girls???
I love it when a drug free for life like yourself who has NEVER prepped a single female for a national level show before tries to make some outrageous claim.

Agreed..... HOWEVER unfortunately MANY girls who get into excellent condition for shows usually hit rock bottom with in 8 weeks a/f their show. You see a pic of them from their show and a current pic of them and think wow cant be the same girl. Ive seen some girls pack on 30 plus lbs. We are talking girls who are 5'2-5'5.

I agree, CQ.  Depends on the person.  For me, it took about a year to pick up most of the basics (round off back handsprings, standing back tucks, aerials).  But, that was working one-on-one with a coach 3x/week.

I also see the author of the thread's point of view about figure.  I think it started off as something good, ie, fitness physique without the routine.  However, it has morphed into something completely different: a competition where bone structure is the primary judging criteria.

And, I have known trainers who have taken girls that never really trained, put them on anavar, clen, GH, test site injections, etc.............and they swept all the local and regional shows...........for a short time.  After 3-4 shows, the drug use really started to show (along with the lack of consistency in training), and the placings started to drop.  Then?  It was time for the trainers to pick another scrawny girl and start from scratch.

INCREDIBLE pics of Valerie, she is amazing!

I dread to think why you could be asking this [;D] but yes I do, I find them highly effective.

Wow, I hate you, 1 year to learn those moves is excellent! Good for you.

It seems not politically correct to say, but I see his point of view as well. Like you, I've seen that same thing. Also with figure I find even attempting to sort out the judging to be fruitless, as it gives the word subjective a whole new meaning.

Probably some mutt from the Bronx.

Quote
Er, no, we don't....
its just that people from outside NY tend to be verrry sensitive...something we NY'ers are NOT.

Bullshit. With the exception of the city and certain areas of Queens and Brooklyn, NYC is pretty much a shithole. Nothing to do with sensitivity and everything to do with rude people who aren't too smart.

Carry on... :-*

Ha ha ha!  You forgot your horoscope sign, favorite color, hobbies & stuff like that.  Please go on ::)

It's fitness Slaveboy, and trust me those girls are very athletic!

One more pic to complete my mini fitness girl meltdown :D

I agree with CQ. The Fitness girls are athletic, unlike the men (pro bbers).
