"Real" Unemployment Could Surge to 25%, Portfolio Manager Says

With Wednesday's ADP report and Thursday's jobless claims data laying the groundwork for Friday's unemployment report, there's an intense focus on jobs from Wall Street to Washington D.C. and beyond.
But there's really only one jobs figure that matters, says John Lekas, senior portfolio manager for the $320 million Leader Short-Term Bond Fund: The U-6 or "real" unemployment number.
U6 is more important than the headline unemployment rate because it includes both the unemployed and "underemployed" workers faced with reduced hours who "still can't pay their bills," Lekas tells Aaron in the accompanying clip. "I think that's a more representative number."
More jobs weakness ahead. More bearish than most, Lekas sees the headline unemployment rate rising to 10% in February and climbing to 15% or 16% by mid-year. Even more dire, he sees the "real" unemployment figure surging to 25%.
Lekas says companies still are focused on cutting costs and jobs to protect their top and bottom lines. Plus, an in-house compilation of household data shows Americans are under water, with unpaid bills and expenses outpacing income by hundreds of dollars a month. That should keep consumer spending down, which means less sales for companies and, thus, less incentive for them to add to payrolls.

I doubt we'll ever get real numbers.

we wont get real numbers and if the numbers were close the admin will blame it on a snowy day, or it rained that week or maybe the sun was too bright and it was too hot

I am sure america has already reached those numbers if not surpassed them. Spain was at 22 percent a couple of years ago. It bought up many roads/highways in america in hopes of profiting of of them by adding taxes and tolls everywhere...however the plan fell through with this orchestrated collapse. The big worry for america and the rest of teh world will be the orchestrated food shortage...Now that will make people CRAZY!!!!!
-
Why is this a surprise, everything this charlatan (that people like to call the POTUS) has done is a job killer.
-
hahaha so a 'portfolio manager' now has the inside details of UE? hahaha pure speculation but of course you buy into it.

Funny you mention that. EMS had 25% off all freeze dired food with a 10yr shelf life. I bought a ton of shit over there and the guy at the desk asked me if I was going on a long camping trip.
The worst thing that happens is that if nothing happens, I eat a bunch of bad tasting lousiana rice 6 years from now in boiled water. ;D ;D

Why are his numbers any worse than the doctored up bullshit the government releases?

I can see the headline now:
Unemployment numbers worse than expected
Then their will be a caveat about how the snow storm played some part in it.

That's pure garbage. No business fires employees due to one snowfall if there demand for the priduct or service.
-
left wing loony media expects america to believe that, and the bad part is that some do

Only a moron would believe that. If there is demand for a product or service businesses are not going to lay off people.

I have a question..An attorney at the gym I go to asked me this..Dee, would you do volunteer/community service work at least 10 hours a week while on unemployment.
My answer is yes of course. Not sure where I read or heard a comment, some think people on unemployment should be drug tested and -people on welfare and food stamps should as well..thoughts

Drug testing for welfare, yes, no reason the tax payer should have to foot the bill for someones drug habit.

True, I guess its a no win situation for the tax payer. Aceept for the fact that it may get the abusers off the gravy train.

true indeed even the fact the states stated it would go into effect, I bet some would quit for a little while
-
if it were tested it would be deemed racist, when blacks, and mexicans got denied.

Shhhhh!!!!!
People think the majority of welfare/aid recipients are black.
-
who cares what color someone is , people should work for what they want or need, not depend on others that work hard for their money just to have it taken and giving to lazy worthless fucks
-
It has nothing to do with race, it has to do with lazy fuckers that think they are entitled to something simply for being born American.
-
I dont see how a grown man can feel like a man when he has to rely on other men to supply him with what he wants or needs or his family. How fucking pathetic. That is not a man in anyway, shape, or form. And when people like this have lil children, especialy lil boys, he is in no way teaching that lil boy how to be a man. So what do you think the odds of that lil boy doing the same are? Its never ending. The only way to end it is to stop the handouts. And tell people,( hey if you want something,, work for it)

I am in favor of work farms where people have to show up if they want welfare and benes.
