Title: Why was Chuck Norris not in The Expendables?
Post by: Parker on September 09, 2010, 01:13:34 PM
I mean, his fights were epic, he could take on a whole Vietnamese army with one handgun, one clip that never ran out of ammo. He was a beast who on, "Walker, Texas Ranger", could outrun his partner, who was a Dallas Cowboys WR, in cowboy boots whip 5 dudes asses, and then have time to dance a Texas Two step...the non inclusion of such a legendary Action hero is a slap in the face...

Or, they knew if they had him, they wouldn't be a need for anybody else... ;D

A movie can only handle so much awesomeness at a time.
Maybe he'll be in the sequel.

I mean, they could have used a cardboard cutout, nobody would have known the difference...

Maybe the sequel will introduce him somewhere is a Vietnamese rice paddy taking on "extremists", or him torching  a Afghani poppy field, and bringing the  head of Osama back to the US to confirm the kill.

Chuck owns 10% of Total Gym.  Every one that is sold he makes money.  My uncle Joe had the original wooden Total Gym made back in the early 80's or late 70's.  Chuck used it way back then.  My uncle sold it to a friend of mine for $300.  He needed a way to market and sell more of them.  My uncle set him up with Chuck.  They worked out a deal.  The first year they sold millions of dollars worth.  That guy ended up selling the majority of the company to the current owners..  If you came to my booth at the Olympia a few years ago you would have seen him.  That company (EFI) does an unreal amount of business

Lololololool, what was he thinking ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? Can't he understand that he has no career anymore, that he destroyed himself with cocaine? So Stallone throws him a bone, his only hope of reviving his dying career, and he rejects it by claiming that his role lacked substance? Has the cocaine induced delusions of grandeur to Jean? what he was thinking was that he didn't want to get involved in a project with so many other names and cause himself to "get lost in the shuffle"

fact of the matter is that he is on a "artistic" high after "JCVD" and his reality show is gonna be very good as well

Lost in the shuffle indeed. Look at jet li, his whole role was making Stallone "look tall". He's much better off if he can get in the second with some kind of weight.

He is still famous and makes what money he needs from the straight to dvd market

he has smoked too many extacy pipes to realise that if ur in a movie with arnold (even if arnold's screentime duration was disappointing and dialogue could have been more directly comical) then ur in the fukn winners cirlcle.

van dumb = sell out from the start to become a movie star, now after coke love he is trying to find roles with substance and avoid selling out, so the story goes........   how the fuck does ANY movie star refuse 1 min screen time and payout?

Must be why he made another Universal Soldier sequel, which went straight to video.  ::) It's more a case of his ego still getting the better of him.

I think there's also the backlash issue if it bombed. I'd think he'd be better off trying to make a cheap knock off. hollywood loves to jump onto fads. Something with gerard butler would be a laugh.

To me, Van Damme will forever be the supreme action hero. His films bring back happpy memories from my infancy and adolescence. I will never forget Tong Po's taunting Van Damme after violating his female buddy:

"You bleed like Mei Ling. Mei Ling...good fuck!"

Truly epic! ;D How can you not love this guy? Best movie quote ever besides the one from "Kill Bill" part I - (my name is Buck and I am here to fuck!!!!"

Jean was the only thing that saved the film "Street Fghter". His performance as Guile and his fight against Mr.Bison at the end was great.

Adding Chuck Norris to the mix would have changed the dynamics of the entire movie.  His presence alone would have altered the title from the "expendables" to the "dependables" because every one of those hard asses would have depended on Chuck to stay alive..

JCVD was the only action star from the 80's that can look good without roids, or constant face lifts, shoe lifts, and "casting choices"

"Chuck, what will we do?"

Chuck Norris: "Just give me a 1910 Colt with six bullets..."

The Cast: "But, it's Bruce Lee's Ghost?"

Chuck Norris: "Good, I've been wanting a rematch..."
