haha yeah these bums around here are asking for two bucks right off the bat. At least play an instrument or tell me a couple of jokes and I might give you some change otherwise go fuck yourself.

I was parking at Comerica Park in Detroit a couple of weeks ago when one approached my SUV and stood in front of the door. Like, I'm going to open the window? I told him to step away from the car or he was eating the door...luckily he moved. I imagine skinng an Escalade door is rather costly... :)
-
The best is when you tell them you don't carry cash, and they say "Well theres an ATM right in that gas station, go make a withdrawal Ill wait"
Shit pisses me off.
Or another one, an illegal mexican woman, probably 50 years old, with her 25 year old daughter and grandkid in a stroller, stood in the doorway to a gas station, blocking it so I couldnt get in, and demanded I give her money.
I said "Excuse me, I need to go in", and she looks me dead in the eyes and says "You give me 5 dollars?"
I told her "No, im not giving you any money, let me in!"
Her reply?
"You give me 5 dollars."
I just pushed around her. She acted like she couldnt even speak english, fucking bitch.
-
Should have said yeah if you shake somethin and tip drilled that hoe in front of gas station customers, thats how real kneegas do round here potna

Yes these people are annoying as hell
-
Ask them for money and don't take no for an answer. Seriously, a bum once told me to leave him alone.
-
Happened to my dad once.... lol
He was walking to his car and a bum stopped him asking for money... My dad reached into his pocket and found he only has a One Hundred Dollar bill, and 25 cents, so he gives the 25 cents to the bum... so the bum looks at him and goes "You're driving a Mercedes and thats all you've got?"....
So my dad just takes the 25 cents back from the bum's hand and goes "Maybe this can be useful for me isntead!" then gets in his car and leaves!
-
just say if you want $2 you give me hand job and if you want $5 you give me blowjob, very simple solution.
-

Mother fuckers, I had a bitch say this exact thing to me. I was in the BART terminal in SF. I was buying a ticket from one of those automated ticket machines, and this bitch comes at me, "Sir, could you spare a couple of dollars." I tell her, "Sorry, no cash, I only got a credit card." She replies, "That's ok, these things take credit cards", and then points at the machine. Fuck I was mad. I told her, "I can't help you." She acted like I was a piece of shit, and stormed off.
She had me so fucking mad, I would have kicked a puppy if there was one around. >:( >:( >:(
-
Was approached yesterday by some neegul in the walgreens parking lot....
asks me if i was a veteran...then points to his marine tattoo asking me for dollar, change, cigarette etc.
Cripes, some of these bums won't take no for an answer >:( >:(
-
When they tell me they haven't eaten anything in days, I always tell them "I admire your willpower", and walk away.
Fuckin' worse than Pakis.... ;D

You should have told him no self-respecting Marine would beg for change on a corner.

I was walking behind some Italian lady'a homeless gentleman asks "do you have a dollar"..? The Italian lady replies.....Yeah sure,,,how about a million..! I hit the floor.... Then I gave him the buck..
-
I saw this homeless man once sitting in front of this bakery. The guy looked like he'd been rung through shit. Just down and out. While in the bakery I ask for a second ham and cheese sandwich and a drink. On my way out, I give the sandwich and drink to the bum who was begging for money. He takes the bag and then mutters to me about not giving him money. I rip the bag out of his hand and yell at him calling him and ungrateful piece of shit and threw the bag in the street. I was so fucking pissed off. You try to do something nice for these assholes and they don't fucking deserve it.

She probably walked around the corner and got into her BMW.
Panhandling, if it's not outlawed in certain states or counties, can be lucrative.
You pick the right location---busy street corner or near a light at a busy mall, some people have racked up 25-40k a yr, and that's not including their regular job.
Dress up bummy, look pitiful, and even get your family involved, many times on different street corners, one can really rack it up.
There have been fights where "bums" have fought over corners and territory.

Honestly, its usually a choice. They had the option somewhere, sometime, to not be a fucking hobo, but for whatever reason they chose to go down that path. They'd rather have their money for drugs or booze than actually take accountability for their lives.

Yep, do you know how many people are on "disability" and smoke or drink up their (our) money?
They say, "I'm on disability", which is the reason why they can't work. Many would rather be homeless bums than take responsibility for themselves. Sometimes it could be depression, a divorce, bankruptcy, or just downright laziness.
And many of them of some of the most ungrateful people. They feel like they are entitled to your money.

Horrible! Ever been to NYC's Penn Station at 5AM? The living dead are out in full force. I get approached while I'm getting my ticket from the Amtrak kiosks; it's one of the few times I allow myself to respond rudely on purpose. Also, I have the bad luck of having the loud African drum- and bongo-playing, Mexican mariachi strumming and singing, Caribbean steel drum-striking, and pirate costume-wearing guitar guys set up right in front of me on my MTA commutes (all the time because I sit near the middle train doors). I haven't had to commute all summer, but will be starting up again soon -- already dreading the trek.

Why is it that train stations are a beacon for the homeless? It's like getting off the BART in Oakland to head to the airport. Once you get off the skeeziest fucking black thugs and homeless people are hanging out there. Just horrible looking humans. Same as the BART stop in Union square. You have to step over the bums to go up the stair and once you reach the top never mind the endless see of bums.
People got all righteous on the cops that beat a bum to death but they don't see the shit these cops deal with when it comes to these bums.

On a positive note; the BART extension all the way to OAK is coming along nicely.
Market & Powell in the City is always crawling with rancid humans.

Public places like train stations attract bums because, well they are like semi- communities. You have a temporary home in the cold, the wet, and heat. You get to see people all the time, so you don't lose the human connection, and where there is people there is food, water (water fountains), bathrooms, and people give you free money, "because they feel sorry for you".
Ths is the same way for airports.
-
The homeless should be rounded up and executed, or forcibly made to work in slave labour settings. When i was in highschool, me and a few buddies of mine would venture downtown and pay bums to kick each other in the nuts for $2 or $3 dollars.
-
These homeless will all be voting for Obama as well.......great....the fate of the US being decided by people who dont work and look for handouts.....ugh
-
For me its all about the approach. If you make me laugh, ill give you the change in my pocket. Or if you are doing something entertaining. Ill give a few bucks if i enjoy the show or whatever. But the begging and acting entitled always causes me to say i dont have any thing for them.
This.
I'll give anyone a buck that says "Gonna be honest, need money for drugs/alcohol".

And you don't dare sit on a chair or bench because you know that some dirty human (however unfortunate he or she might be) was totally nestled and ensconced in that seat at some point prior to your arriving at the station. I think that there is a minimum standard of safety and cleanliness (including from ass-nasty germs) that commuters ought to expect for their money.

I had a white guy mid-40s, sweating and anxious looking, come up to my truck window and rap on the glass. I'm in the parking lot dropping my wife off for work. I'm in the middle of talking to my wife and he starts rapping on my window with a story about car broke down and he needs $12.75 to get it home and some shit about his mad girlfriend.... You sneak up and interrupt a man in his vehicle in the State of Texas? Are you insane?!

I'm not interested in working side by side with any panhandler i've ever seen. Why bring someone who's basically mentally ill into the work force? As long as people are allowed to breed with no restrictions, there is going to be a percentage of people who are mentally ill and don't belong in the work force. They're not going to get anything worth of value done in the work force. In more cases than not, they are going to be disruptive. Like a lot of women.
-
I've seen the same guy begging for change in my town since I was in high school. I'm 42 now.
A few years ago I told the guy he should just get a job. Of course, he got all agitated, because he probably doesn't hear that kind of response too often.
He's an old man now ... still out there looking for a hand out.
It's a path he chose a long time ago.

People change, home slice.
-
I typically keep about $20 in change in my truck to handout to folks at streetlights. If I ever happen to have cash on me I typically end up giving away 20-50% of it. Desperate folks will try desperate things sometimes, but they certainly have less than me and I can live without the 50 bucks here and there. It ain't much when you think about it and we all need a helping hand at times...even if it is just a few bucks.

Fucking idiot, the majority of them are fucking fine, and are just scamming on your stupidity. I know tons of pan handlers, nice enough folk and they all openly admit that it's hilarious how they can stand there with a guitar and busk for hours, and make like ten bucks, but the second they drop the guitar they'll make 5 times as much.
Whenever I get asked if I got change I always be sure to count out how much I got in front of them and walk away.
Seriously these people are the genetic untermenschen stomp em out.
-
On my way to an equipment install in good ole' Maywood IL I encountered some crackhead chick sitting at the intersection, she was smoking a cigarette looking all sorts of messed up and actually had the fucking nerve to walk up to cars driver side windows, knock on the window and ask for handouts!
WTF?
-
haha yeah these bums around here are asking for two bucks right off the bat. At least play an instrument or tell me a couple of jokes and I might give you some change otherwise go fuck yourself.
Yeah - that or a serious disability.
Out here, you get women hanging around with very young babies - same women for years on end in the same spot but different kids as time passes. - NO $$$
Then we have these cnuts, dragging themselves along the streets.
Looks bad right? Well - sure he's lost half a leg below the knee - but the other leg - there's a foot on the end of that. They lengthen the good trouser leg to hide the fact it's a fully functioning leg and that a cheap plastic prosthesis on the other side would have them jogging round the park. These guys drag themselves around the floor all day and then walk home at the end of it.
No music, no debilitating disability - No money.
-
Funny..just after reading this thread I went to take my dinner break and usually i walk down the street, sure enough there's this guy ranting and raving cursing at the cars going by and asking people for money. The people at the bus stop were scared as shit when he came close to them. I was walking just behind him while all this was going on and when he sensed i was behind him he looked at me and said in the kindest voice, "he bruh you got .59 cents?" I said naw man and kept going. Usually I don't give to the homeless but since he asked nicely and called me bruh I may give him a ducket or two, get high for me too bruh lol!
-
Most of the ones I see don't ask for change...They're too busy talking to themselves.
-
We have the "eat em up Tigers" guy in Detroit...dude wears a hulk fist and yells "eat em up tigers" outside the ballpark....The Lions play right next door and he does a Lions thing too...I'll give him a buck or two because he's funny as hell and smart enough to sell shirts...
There's also a guy who sits and freestyles with a little speaker...I don't look like most people, so he usually works me into his bit. That is worth a few bucks right there.
-
ToxicAvenger aka ProteinFarts had said in Karachi, that fathers would cut off the limbs of their kids and have them beg in the streets---because everybody feels sorry for a kids with missing limbs
-
these assholes where i live in the palm springs area will post up casino exits and look pathetic these people are like fucking cockaroaches the only difference between the two are roaches dont beg for money
-
I was in Vancouver walking downtown once and this bum walked up to me and asked me for some "coin".
I told him I didn't have any and he said, "No one around here has any money." (Trying to sound sarcastic)

He gave me a stupid look and slinked away.

That's very kind of you. Without re-reading to double check, I'll say you may be the only charitable man in the thread.
I'm finding it progressively harder to retain whatever generosity of spirit I may have once had. The longer I spend in the world the less I can stand its human inhabitants. Every year finds me a little more malevolent than the last, which makes me guilty of the same mindset I despise in others. I envy your kindness, MoS, and am a little inspired in spite of myself.

We have a local woman beggar here who has to weigh 300lbs. All I can say is she's obviously eating better than me.She's smart enough to never use the excuse she's hungary though lol

BC.
They try really hard to keep them in a 10 block area, but sometimes they sneak out and you gotta kick 'em back into the cage so to speak.
-
I'm not in the city so I obviously dont see it as much but they have starting popping up where I live. They stand at the end of the exit ramps off the highway. Always a "Will work for food" sign.

Nice of you to say. My heart was changed a couple of years back.
I used to work in a downtown area in which I had to pay to park and then walk several blocks to the office. I was hit up for money almost everyday and sometimes 2-3 times per day. At that time, I shared the opinions of the majority in this thread, but my heart changed and so did my opinion. I can't help everyone I encounter all the time, but if I have the cash/coin on me I give it away. Hey, if someone scams me on occassion then so be it, but 9 times out of 10 those I give a couple bucks to truly need it more than me (even the "scammers"). In all reality, I'm not doing much to help, but at most I hand out a couple bucks, show some needed respect and kindness, try to uplift them in those few moments we share and move on. We all need help from time to time....I certainly have. Some people say I'm weak....so be it.
-
GLad you are supporting their meth addiction. You honestly think they are spending it on food? Fuck man
I can't control what others do or think, but I can certainly take control of my own thoughts and actions. I'd rather leave a legacy of love, kindness and respect.

All I see is a lot of pussies afraid of confronting panhandlers in this thread.
Whatever happened to turning up your nose and refusing to even acknowledge the existence of these subhumans?
-
I can't control what others do or think, but I can certainly take control of my own thoughts and actions. I'd rather leave a legacy of love, kindness and respect.
That's the right way to be... You can only control yourself... You live to your standard, no one else's.
I too have given to many panhandlers, but I don't do it EVERY time. No one can just give away ALL of their money when ANYONE asks.
Besides, I give enough money away to single mother's funds.
