You were already borne of God's own image, distorting that image would be desecrating God... bodybuilding with steroids is both prideful and vain--both mortal sins.
Or something like that....I don't know

Have you seen the Sistine Chapel, the creation of Adam? God is wider than Heath, and has good separation. Legit kigs all the way.

But wouldnt bodybuilding, by definition, be prideful and vain? Forget whether juice is involved or not.

I agree with you and it is ridiculous. As a believers we're entrusted with the whole of creation and that which is developed threrein. I've never grasped the link that some believers make between taking advantage of medical technology and therefore having a lack of faith LOL....feels like a nonsequitor to me.
I also like how the Quran very plainly states the position on medical technology and science.
The bible isn't quite as straightforward as that LOL. Paul mentions drinking a bit of wine to settle a sour stomach and there are references to injuries being treated with the medicine of the time. Heck, gospel writer Luke was a companion of the apostle Paul, but before that he was a doctor. He became a Christian yet he still remained a doctor.
Within the book of Galatians Paul notes the sin of sorcery which is rooted in the greek term pharmakeia (pharmacy). This isn't indicating that medicines in general are bad. The context is about sorcery and witchcraft and avoiding making or partaking in elicit drugs (potions) for purposes of engaging in witchcraft, the occult or abusing drugs in general for non-medical purposes and allowing it consume a person creating addictions that oppose God's will for our lives.
I think folks misinterpret these passages of scripture, but again I agree that the behavior is ridiculous. If my kid skins her knee she's gettin some ointment, a bandage, a little tylenol and a hug LOL!
Galatians 5:16-25
Living by the Spirit’s Power
16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives

any form of "self improvement" is vanity
steroids, bodybuilding, career, power, nice clothes, haircuts, cars....................

The body is a temple, and clearly god wants megachurches.

HI friend
that is what dennis l bates uses in his musclemissions concept as wel
SORCERY
how is steroids sorcery but anti biotics, cancer medication, etc etc etc not sorcery?
ANSWER THAT
truth is the anti steroid brigade is just interpreting the scriptures to suit their agenda
sorcery ::)

The fact of the matter is that lifting weights is against the bible. Religious thumpers like MOS like to pick and choose what parts of the bible they want to follow and those parts they want to ignore. They pick those parts that fit their agenda and ignore those parts that contradict their agenda.
At the same time, as with many things in this life, bodybuilding, if taken to the extreme, can become an idol. Eventually, a point is reached where there is no true value in adding more muscle. In fact, too much muscle can be hazardous to your health, as it puts additional strain on the heart. Bodybuilding/weightlifting can become an addiction and/or obsession. While this is much more often an issue with men, it can be an issue for women as well. Striving for bigger and stronger muscles, taken to the extreme, is nothing but vanity (1 Samuel 16:7; Ecclesiastes 1:2; 1 Peter 3:4). Once we allow our physical appearance to become more important than our relationship with God, it has become an idol (1 John 5:21).
I suspect that MOS is a sinner. I mean he posts on a bodybuilding forum, looks at men with big muscles all day long, and from what I gather, is a pretty big guy. He takes it to the extreme, according to Religious standards. But of course he will deny the above paragraph and not accept the fact that every day he goes into the gym he is a sinner.

Whoa whoa whoa..... you found one word in the verse, "sorcery", and somehow concluded that it would refer to steroids. Hardly convincing.

It's about inappropriate use of drugs that can create addictions and harm our bodies, but the core is about the drugs becoming an idol of sorts in that your realiance is on them and not God. Much like money, in and of itself money is great. It's the love of money that potentially leads to the defiance of God's will for our lives that becomes harmful. By themselves, drugs and money are harmless.

WRONG!! Read my above post. Even without steroids, bodybuilding can lead to sin because of vanity.
Stop misinterpreting the bible to fit your agenda and anti-religious lifestyle.

Ok I read your post above....sorry, didn't see it. Sure, bb can definitely become an idol of sorts.
Yes, I am a sinner. Yes, I have created idols in my life. I don't idolize bb or bbs though. In my life God is first....real simple stuff.
Exercise and lifting weights isn't harmful at all....it's part of healthy lifestyle. It's about how you prioritize things.

The judge might want to hear a plan for how you plan to care for your child. I am pretty sure that flexing "truth" and "justice" in his face and muttering about "18 inches gonna get the whores" isn't what he is looking for.
What IS your plan here? (Trying to stay inside the increasingly ephemeral gimmick-reality)

....HOWEVER, anabalchalo, you are wrong, taking juice is a sin but not a sin for everyone.

When you get to the pearly gates and God says to you, "What was the purpose of achieving 19" arms? How did your big arms get you closer to me?"
What are you going to say to him? Now that you stand before God as a sinner. And whats even worse, is you continue to live in sin by bodybuilding and posting here. If you were a true follower of God, would you not give up posting here and give up bodybuilding? How dedicated are you to him?

There is a difference. Shaving is for hygiene purposes. Getting 22" arms is pure vanity and pride.
Its like asking me "why do I wipe my ass." Well, I guess because its important for health reasons.

Wiggs once said that the Bible says noting about PEDs, so you can use them without feeling guilty.
I like this reasoning :D

FYI ~ my arms are currently 20.5" actually (so let's get that right first)....21.5" at their biggest. No roids.....just heavy weights, muscle and bodyfat combo....my arms are my bodies greatest responders.
The Lord knows I put him first in my life. My weight training has kept heart disease, diabetes and even simple colds at bay at times.
I try and lead a balanced lifeystyle now.....my God, my family, my career come before my arms.....it'll be a non issue I assure you LOL. Plus members of his angelic host are much larger than me.
So much of sin discussed in scripture is heavily bucketed in forms of sexual immorality and idolatry.

Again, ignoring certain parts of the bible to fit your agenda.
You can easily stay fit and ward off diseases and NOT have 20"+ arms. That can be accomplished by having 17" arms. Youre a typical hypocrite Christian. Cherry picking and interpreting the bible as you see it. Not as God sees fit.

you said lifting weights, people lift weights for health reasons, you did not say 22inch arms, 15 000 member at my gym and only one guy has 22 inch arms, 99% of the them look like shit and 90% do not care to look like a bodybuilder, they want to be fit,.

Its okay to lift weights for health reasons, another thing to go against the Almighty God with your bulging biceps and chiseled chest, OTH! :P :P

Getting 20" arms is pure vanity. It does not serve God in any way. Vanity is a sin. Its pretty straightforward.

you are the one reading the Bible in the manner you want. The Bible speaks of vanity and people like you put every category in the world to this passage, like seriously, this is vague and cheap and shows you have not even read the Bible
''oh, well that is vanity'' ''this is vanity'' lmao EVERTHING IS VANITY :D
-

LOL, the whole of me serves God SF. Yes vanity is a sin. My time in the gym is a time of worship, prayer and strengthening my body for his purposes. When I train or live my daily life I'm pretty well covered up. The fruits of my labors in the gym are revealed to no one other than my wife.
You trying to label me as vain and a hypocrite will fail SF......I serve my Lord and Savior and praise him daily for the works he's done in my life. I have no fear about what you're attempting so know that.

Hey I agree doing steroids is a sin, but if you have a passion for art or for something that takes hard work to achieve, the Bible says clearly that you should rejoice in your hard work, chiseled chest included.
Because you like to be physically fit through hard work

Exactly, it's all about your motivations and who you serve.....yourself, others, a circumstance, an object or the Almighty? If God is first in your life and your actions and motivations are aligned with him you're doing pretty good LOL.

It will not fail because you are. Your 20 inch arms do not serve God in any way shape or form. Your existence, everything you do should be about God. How does 20 inch arms glorify god? Stop trying to interpret the bible to fit your agenda.

bro I stay covered, no ones sees me without my shirt, I do not go to bars or beaches and have a family, am I shredded ? yes but I do not care who sees, only on show time for a bodybuilding show or when I am on here trying to prove a point, I know most bodybuilders are not like that but I really do not care about appearance, I do it because I like the thrill of the challange I guess, if I cared about appearance how come my shoes are 25 dollars :D

yes but God sees and hears all. You sees your hot, ripped body.

you do not know what you are talking about bro, you simply do not know the scriptures. You think Solomon's 1000 WIVES ( YES 1000) served God? no, was it a sin, ? No it wasn't, the Bible makes it clear that it was not a sin. Read the Bible before speaking on it ;)

I never set out to have really big arms when I trained. I discovered I was blessed physically with big, strong arms. Again, my motivations are pure and God is first in my life. My arms and body (which is nothing special) are always hidden as I mentioned. Some folks are really fast. Some are blessed with artistic talent. I'm physically blessed with strength and ability to grow my arms naturally....it's a blessing not a sin of vanity LOL.
The Power Team from 80s, 90s and 00s are big strong men that used their physical size and strength as a platform to spread the message of Christ....I've seen them live!
I don't have that platform or physical blessing so I speak on Getbig and to my circle of influence in life offline.
My training is again used to remain healthy and strong so that I can serve God and take care of my family.....if I have big arms in the process then bonus blessing by God above!
Sorry you can't see that, but it's the truth.
Do I need 20" arms to spreads the gospel of Christ? LOL, no....but I was blessed with them and still spread his word.
-
yes but God sees and hears all. You sees your hot, ripped body.
