I disagree. Fried Chicken or Pulled Pork is better than Sushi any day of the week.
-
Why do you care where they choose to eat? ???

Certainly we're engaged in a pretty subjective topic here, but although I like fried chicken as much as Wiggs, I still like sushi better.
-
I can`t believe people are actually fooled into eating raw fish. :D
-
Never had a Brazilian steak and didn't know they were renowned for that. But I grew up with Japanese exchange students as a kid, and host them now as an adult. I turned my nose up at sushi for years but once I finally tried some, I fell in love. I wrote it off as some hipster BS, but sushi is truly god damned delicious. There's no shame in eating delicious food just because other douchebags also like it.

No ones being fooled into eating it, they try it, like it, and eat it again.

Your opinion holds much weight considering how the Carolinas are littered with such top sushi restaurants.

gotta disagree. Stuff sits to heavy. Im just burned out on southern/fried foods.
im really into lighter meals now, fish, veggies, chicken, different kinds of rices... anything that sits heavy makes my stomach turn anymore.
ive been on a business tri9 and ive been eating fast food and pizza ED...... it fuckin sucks. I feel like crap.

For me, Sushi is average at best. But then again, I am partial to American Cuisine. America has by far, the best food of any country and is the most diverse.

Actually they are. Charlotte has one that is probably the best in the country.
As for Seafood, the Coast of Carolina has the best in the nation.

My dad's white and never liked Asian food, so I didn't eat Asian food outside of Christmas at grandma's and then after I met my wife and was introduced to authentic Asian food. It's a lot different than the shit they serve in restaurants that's Americanized. Sushi is legitimately awesome though. I hate sounding like a food snob but there is a lot of shitty sushi out there too. Shitty sushi isn't all together too bad, but I can't help but feel like a lot of people make up their mind based on shit like corner store sushi or California rolls.
I make my own sushi half the time and I make it properly, so that's probably why it tastes way better. When a restaurant snags a good sushi chef, I'll frequent their restaurant a lot however. I don't think anything beats GOOD sushi. It's God tier food when it's done properly.
-
There is certainly some half assed sushi out there, but when you find a good restaurant, it's glorious.
-

its hard to find good sushi, americanized or otherwise. Theres some killer ones in Washington called trappers.... but a lot of the asian teriyaki/sushi bars suck ass. Bland or slimy. Blech.
-
I disagree. Fried Chicken or Pulled Pork is better than Sushi any day of the week.
I think you were born retarded if you think fried chicken is better than sushi, I mostly eat sushi when i am on the road its one of the better foods for a bodybuilder, but you would not know anything about that mr calorie is a calorie dumbass.

I read a piece a few months back that claimed that in the West more and more makers are filling their sushi with mayo and turning it into a high cal/high fat snack. Ironic as it was first lauded and praised here for being the opposite.

Perhaps you are speaking of rolls, I guess some like the California roll might have mayo in it, but the vast majority of sushi does not.

I feel like mayo would make a disgustinv roll.
trappers uses cream cheese and alot of different spices on their rolls, but theyr americanized and delicious. They also have a lot of traditional stuff.

haha .
while i agree, sushi is overrated, its what rice rolled around solomo fish?
but a steak is always nice and tasty things.
or the best thing ever, on the spanish coast restarants they serve for 10euros either a fish plates or meat plate, fantasic.
the americans dont even know what is nice foods, putting fat dressing into something with bread and a sausage is hardly delicious, its just tasty.
the southern europe they serve on the beaches, now thats good and even relatively healthy.

I used to not like sushi, but I love it now. I'm surprised you don't like sushi; being so much into culinary arts and things of this nature, but people have different tastes, and I've heard that people's taste buds can change with time.

its in vogue, so TA is against it.
-
Perhaps you are speaking of rolls, I guess some like the California roll might have mayo in it, but the vast majority of sushi does not.
Japanese mayo is okay when used sparingly, but people are just tossing it into everything along with putting tons of sugar into their rice. I've always despised California rolls unless they're home made. Store bought ones make me wanna puke, and I've never ordered one at a restaurant because there's no point.
In legit Japanese sushi joints in Japan, it would take years for people to climb up the ranks and become an itamae. They usually spend years getting harassed by their senpai trying to perfect their rice technique. So with Sushi joints here the quality of the chef can really vary from absolute shit to go-back-multiple-times-a-month kind of goodness. I never envisioned myself eating sushi because I'm usually more of a burger and fries kind of guy. But I'm glad I stopped turning my nose up at sushi and writing it off before I tried it.
-
Why do you care where they choose to eat? ???
he doesn't care what they eat
it's all about this

I like sushi, fried chicken, BBQ, churrascaria food--hell, there's very little I don't like. Eat what you like, who gives a fuck about others.

$15 for the all you could eat lunchtime special at my favorite churrascaria in Culver City, I could eat enough for two days in a single sitting.
Fantastic price for exactly the same food they served for $50+ a head at dinner.
If you don't like picanha from a top BBQ then you don't deserve tastebuds

Brazilian Steak is great.

I ate at a really famous brazilian steakhouse on Houston... meat was delicious, but honestlt I need more than JUST meat for dinner. I need potatoes/rice, veggies and/or salad dammit!.

Exactly. Its incomplete fare as far as I am concerned. Their desserts are garbage as well. Americans, French and Germans shine in this area. Asian desserts, (there really is no such thing) is an epic and laughable joke. Pathetic really.

LOL@ sushi compared to the above.
Food is so subjective, arguing about which is better is a moot point. It's like saying the color blue is better than orange or red, or which is girl is hotter. U are never going to get one definite answer , everyone and their choices, opinions differ
U being a person into culinary should appreciate all kinda of food from different places. But then again this is the Internet where everyone has like 2 or 3 personas

All I can think of when I see people eating at a Brazilian Steakhouse are the turds that will be floating in their stomach and then clogging their toilet.

Hey, I appreciate the feeble attempt of Sushi to recognized alongside Nashville Fried Chicken, but the truth is, its just nowhere close to being as good.
Asians do some stupid shit, like eating live octo-pussies. Guess I should appreciate that too eh? ::)

Thats not how its fried. Hope this helps. Furthermore, the fat content from deep frying in oil is not much higher than pan frying. You can deep fry an unbreaded chicken breast and if your oil is the correct temperature, it will absorb less oil than if you pan fry it like your average dillhole bodybuilder will do.

You'd probably like Vietnamese food. There's a ton of French inspiration in their dishes (they call coffee "ga-fe" for instance and even have a baguette sandwich called banh mi which is really good!). They've also got some pretty decent deserts. But there aren't many Asian desserts out there like there are in French and American cuisines. Asians aren't super big on desserts, but I can tell you that I've eaten some amazing Vietnamese desserts. I don't know the names of them but there are some amazing desserts. At Pho joints you'd probably only find stuff like creme brulée or deep fried bananas and ice cream though. I've never really seen many Viet restaurants with an assortment of desserts.

Yup great stuff..... the original "fusion" cuisine.
For what it's worth, nothing comes close to French food for me. But it's hard to get the good stuff outside of France

Nice. I've found good Japanese steakhouses to be extremely hard to find. They have a couple in Vancouver but they're few and far between.
Sometimes I make homemade tonkatsu sauce and make my steaks with that. I slice it up over rice with tomatoes, lettuce and cilantro (not typically Japanese) and drizzle the sauce over and serve it family style. The Bulldog brand off the shelf is pretty damn tasty too. It tastes like a Japanese BBQ sauce with ketchup.

Yah, I would always get the fried banana. I do make it at home at times.
My favorite easy to make dessert at home is Bananas Foster, from New Orleans. Here is where it originated from and they still make it to this day!

Man... when my wife was pregnant she had hyperemesis gravidarum and couldn't even hold down water. Once she started to tolerate foods, all she could eat for a few weeks was fried bananas and vanilla ice cream. Mmm... banana Fosters looks like a damn good dessert. I'll give that variation a try next time!

Nothing wrong with that either, but everything is better fried!
Candy Bars, like the Mars Bar, are the Best thing ever deep fried. Scotland can take credit for this one. It can also be found on the menu now at many restaurants in Paris. (thieves!)

Asian desserts, (there really is no such thing) is an epic and laughable joke. Pathetic really.
There are some Thai desserts I like.
I think the desserts with rice balls or black soy beans or various kinds of fruit in sweet coconut milk sauce are good (basically tastes something like some variation of sweet fruit cocktail with milk). This might be more of a breakfast thing, though, since I've only seen this offered at breakfast buffets.
And I will never pass up my favorite which is mango with sticky rice:
