Title: Today marks one full month without alcohol
Post by: King Shizzo on November 24, 2014, 11:59:12 AM
At first I was scared that my life would be dull without the buzz.

Now, I have a much more positive outlook on things.

I am just genuinely happier.

why  ??? ???
I had a problem.

I learned that there are 3 types of alcohol users:

1. Social drinkers

2. Alcohol abusers (I think I fell under this category)

3. Alcohol addicts (Alcoholics)

I am not delusional to think I am completely out of the woods, but I like to think that it was caught early enough.

I had no withdrawl symptoms (minus cravings)

Doesn't mean I wasn't on the fast track to becoming one.

Hell, I could still be in denial on that.  Each person's situation is different.

Also..... go fuck yourself.  8)

Not at all actually, I'm rather content by my standards.

And insufferably is something one is born with.

On a serious note more than a few of my friends are alcoholics or were.

I barely escaped that shit.

Just don`t go do anything stupid like find religion and become a Tbombz.

Hopefully you took the info in that thread that exposed the AA 12 step program as a fraud and failure directly to them.

I was basically forced to go to AA meeting. I was very skeptical at first, but it has definitely been a good experience.

Alot of good guys in those meetings that you can gain valuable insight from.

As for your friend.... If he has multiple drinks everyday and also drinks by himself, then he might have a problem.

Shizzo>Yep, he does that pretty often. Though it's a rough period for him currently, lots of troubles in many fields of life. But that is not the answer, obviously. Well I guess there's no way to "force" a person to do that anyway, unless the person forces himself (that's what you did I assume).

No, I was actually confronted about it. I denied it at first, but I know now that I had a problem.

I probably would still be drinking if I was left to my own devices.

Sit your friend down, and tell him you think he may have a problem.

Thats what friends are for.

No, I'm not suggesting the 'one or two' dance AT ALL. Only saying that once you're comfy and confident with your sobriety, you may be able to present at such places. Worked that way for me, anyway. My brother is the opposite, though, so maybe just disregard the bar thing.

But, yeah, "social drinking" is a losing battle for problem types, I totally understand that.

I'm sure most of us have a relative or friend that is affected by alcohol.  It can be nasty stuff.  I think we are all addicts to something.  Hell, I get nasty if i dont have my morning coffee.  I also find that I get fidgety if i dont have my stupid damn phone in my hand all day.  It comes down to realizing if its a habit that is bad enough to cause serious damage in your life.  Either way good job man and keep it up.

sometimes worse. Picks up right where you stopped and becomes progressively fast a downhill race to death!

Some, again some people cant handle it!

I know plenty of people that got left behind and a lot that have changed to the better

If it can give you a better life why not using it?

i went from 1992 to 2005 with no rec drugs,i smoked weed once in a awhile so i guess i wasnt totally drug free. anyway i stayed away from coke and pills ect for 13 yrs and then my buddy had a birthday party in 2005 and there was some fishscale on the table and they kept saying just do one bump and it wont hurt u,that one bump turned into me staying there till the next day sniffing lines and it started me on a weekend coke bender for almost a year straight. id get paid friday,go to spanish harlem in NYC and spend 300 bucks on a half ounce and come back to jersey and sell half of it to make my money back and have a quarter ounce to party with, not bad.but the point to the story is once u stop stay away totally or risk going back to that fucked up way of living, ill always have that urge in the back of my mind but i just have to stay positive and keep lifting and focus on the good things in life like my son and wife, right now i help out saint judes cancer hospital with some extra money i made instead of giving it to some scummy drug dealer who couldnt care if i lived or died

Alcohol problem seems to be fixed, next problem to tackle is morbid obesity.

Let's be honest, you're so fat if you caught the flesh eating disease Ebola you'd survive for another 40 years.

u know what skorp1o i noticed a pattern with people who stop drinking or using drugs, the pattern seems to be they either substitute eating tons of food for the drinks or drugs than they get obese.my buddy went from 200lbs to 420lbs in 1 yr when he stopped using drugs,i noticed he was alway eating non stop all day long after he stopped the drugs.

I noticed when I had severe stress for a couple of years, drinking got out of control. (Even though each year I do a 5 month cleanse from JAN 1 thru May 30 without a drop).
These days, no stress, hardly drink. (Occasional bottle of wine / champagne on weekends).
I'll still do my 5 month cleanse without booze in JAN, like to give organs a break on everything...
Keep it going Shizzo, i know the feeling...

This!   He's susceptible to the urge to replace one vice with another. He might start eating more and more as a reaction to discontinuing alcohol.

Nah it was crazy he was ultra suburban dad, starting his own business and everything.

The kind of dad you'd be jealous of.

Than woosh, wouldn't see him sober ever.

Kinda person that destroyed his kids lives by just being such a loser.

If your gonna be around as a dad, be consistent, nothing is worse than being a good dad than taking it back when your kid turns 13.
i.e. getting arrested etc.

The reality is: if he doesn't join Alcoholics Anonymous he is destined to drink again. That's been statistically proven.

Sad but true statement

Also a GREAT place to meet vulnerable women.

i went from 1992 to 2005 with no rec drugs,i smoked weed once in a awhile so i guess i wasnt totally drug free. anyway i stayed away from coke and pills ect for 13 yrs and then my buddy had a birthday party in 2005 and there was some fishscale on the table and they kept saying just do one bump and it wont hurt u,that one bump turned into me staying there till the next day sniffing lines and it started me on a weekend coke bender for almost a year straight. id get paid friday,go to spanish harlem in NYC and spend 300 bucks on a half ounce and come back to jersey and sell half of it to make my money back and have a quarter ounce to party with, not bad.but the point to the story is once u stop stay away totally or risk going back to that fucked up way of living, ill always have that urge in the back of my mind but i just have to stay positive and keep lifting and focus on the good things in life like my son and wife, right now i help out saint judes cancer hospital with some extra money i made instead of giving it to some scummy drug dealer who couldnt care if i lived or died

Respect bro.

I think some people's perception of morbid obesity is a tad off. I am not obese, I am what is called. a t-shirt champion.

Kind of like when a girl tricks you by wearing tight jeans   :D

The workers at the local liquor where shizzo lives now actually have to look to see how close to closing time it is....they were use to hearing shizzos car screeching into the parking lot and seeing him come running in and knowing that they closed in 5 minutes.

Now, I have a much more positive outlook on things.

I am just genuinely happier.
