I just wanted to make sure I am not the weakest person on Getbig. Right now, I am 5-9 1/2 and 160 pounds. At my all-time best, I was 174 pounds, with abs. My best lifts are Bench Press-187 Squat-238 Deadlift-340. Is anybody weaker than this? :-[ At what age could you do these lifts? I am 23 right now.
P.S. I have not maxed out on roller skate deadlifts and squats yet. Does anyone else do those?

Nop in fact I don't deadlift anymore I hate the feeling I get in my back.
When I first start training I was doing weightlifting at school so for 1 year all I did was squat, deads, clean and jerk, snatch (fucked my shoulder doing snatch)
right now I think I could deadlift around 475 for one rep, I'll try it next back workout.
A friend of mine who is really overweight did 220 kg the first time he deadlifted ! at 16 years old. He weighted 315 at the time if I remember well.
I think that was really impressive, now he is much stronger. I haven't seen him lately but I heard he is doing great in weightlifting

I have pretty long arms and am naturally stonger at the deadlift for some reason. My squat and deadlift are improving though, which is good. My biggest problem is bench press. I have long arms and my chest is barely bigger than my waist :-\

On and off since I was 13, but for a year straight a few times. I admit I am better at distance running than weightlifting, but I still won't give up. I hope to bench press 200 pounds eventually.

im stronger than you but not by much...and I'm 27, when I was 23 I was NOT as strong as you. If you keep it up by 30 you will have a great amount of relative strength (to bodyweight I mean).

nah..i ws out of the gym since last summer..hurt my shoulder real bad trying to get 405 for 6 on the deadlift.. >:(
couldn't raise my arms proper for months...
then i start teaching..my schedule for teaching is 8 to 10 hours/day everyday for 14 or 16 days after which i get some time off...in class for those 10 hours i'd maybe drink a soda and eat a few pretzels..
soo i lost a whole bunch...
i'm back training now..

only thing is during my break i had been smoking ciggys..here n there(like 2/day)..ciggys and a teaching computer job goes hand in hand..i never wanted to eat much during class cause there are corporate folks i'm teaching and i gotta stay sharp..food makes ones mind sluggish...
so on stuff like squats my lungs and heart are NOT up to par..of course i've quit the ciggys (never had a problem doing that...dunno why its hard for others)
but thanx 8)..things are coming along..i'm actually 158 as of today..but that just initial water gain from the creatine...

Over the last few years I have noticed alot of professional team sports players (football, league, rugby, auusie rulz etc) have begun to develop alot more muscle mass while maintaining their aerobic fitness.
At a gym I used to attend a friend there who was shooting for a spot in a professional team used to combine a weight programme (essentially what I was doing) with a full fitness regime. While I was 'hard out' doing my bodybuilding he would have done the set of the bodybuilding exercise and thrown in some 60 yard sprints or something in between. It was amazing to me that you could develop so much fitness and retain a good deal of muscular mass also.
If you can run marathons and put muscle on - good luck it will be a hard road to travel but if you can do it I'm impressed.
Just thinking - if you look at the tri atheletes of today some of those guys and girls are very well muscled while having peak aerobic conditioning so it can definately be done. I guess sprinters are very impressive but their overall fitness and aerobic capacity most likely wouldn't match that of the long distance runner.

I tried it and it's great. I gained 15 pounds of muscle the first month and I recommend it to everyone. I was skeptical at first, because so many companies make products that don't work. The only place I feel them is in my wallet! But this supplement was different. I got complements from my wife and the guys at work. I feel like I'm twenty years old again. God bless Vyotech for stepping up and making a great product. I can't believe I'm even writing this, but I've never felt better.

I just wanted to make sure I am not the weakest person on Getbig. Right now, I am 5-9 1/2 and 160 pounds. At my all-time best, I was 174 pounds, with abs. My best lifts are Bench Press-187 Squat-238 Deadlift-340. Is anybody weaker than this? :-[ At what age could you do these lifts? I am 23 right now.
P.S. I have not maxed out on roller skate deadlifts and squats yet. Does anyone else do those?

Then you lose...I've lifted with Blockhead and Marshmallow and No Meatheadz, ask any of those guys what I can lift. My max squat is 315 and I've never maxed out on Leg Extensions but I rep 8 plates on each side. I shame most of the guys at the gym...
Currently I am cutting (down about 13 pounds) and still easily rep 275...I get more nervous at 315 because my show is about 5 weeks away and I don't want to injure myself. Also those first pics were taken last year showtime, I have put on about 10 pounds of muscle in the last year. There are some more recent pics later in that thread (I look horrible but you can see I've put on size).
Oh and about your little wrestling challenge-I wrestled all four years in high school, I'd hip toss your weak sorry ass.

See thats the problem, I genetically have no hips. the judges last year said I was too straight, other then having a kid I needed a way to get some curves on my body. That is why I focused on lifting as heavy as possible (I got very nice results) and no...I'm 5'3 with a 26 inch waist.

I'm glad you asked. I get asked all the time about my squatting numbers and I'm always happy to help a young fan.
One fateful summer, I got that free rack, a Sports Authority set, and started. I squatted 2 times a week for one heavy set of 20 reps. Now and then I'd add deads or benching, but most of the time, it was just squats. I pigged out at the same time- I had just quit teaching and had nothing to do but lift, eat, and play PS2.
By the end of the summer I had gained 30 pounds (most was muscle- i finally filled out) and I was regularly doing 300 pounds to parallel for 20-rep squats, just like the internet article I had read had described. (We've all read that one- and it works!) It was at this time I joined a gym and started to break weights over 300.
315... 335... 355... the weights went up as my reps begain to dip below 20. I always had a spotter or two, and usually finished without assistance. Soon I was using 405, with 2 spotters, every other weekend on Sunday, with knee wraps. I got up to 8 or so very sickening reps that first time, and nearly sharted. Rough day. But I continued on. It got easier as I hit the early 420 and 430s.
Hurricane Charley came shortly thereafter and destroyed my beloved SOS Gym in Pt Charlotte, FL. So, I joined a new gym in the fall. By this time, I was working a ton and attending FT classes. I started doing cardio- for the first time in 2 years- and couldn't run 1/8 mile without stopping. Shinsplints followed. But after a while, the cardio came easier for me.
Today I usually squat without a spotter and typically don't go over 315 for 10 slow safe reps. I don't use wraps, and I don't weigh 220 anymore. I'm at 191 today. My knees ache most days from the cardio, so I am careful about risking heavy leg work while dieting.

THE BEAST- well you do not look at all what i expected. based on that it is very hard to believe you can squat 315 given your tiny structure and the fact that u are female. maybe you are a strength freak..id have to see it to believe it.

Hahahaha... you don't seem to understand what Greco-Roman wrestling is. It is not a fight, it is grappling. There are no punches and no submissions or chokes. I was not suggesting that I wanted to hurt you , quite the contrary, it is a nonviolent and old-fashioned way to measure who is the better man. The fact that you backed down shows that I am the better man.

You cannot do a full squat with 315. You are lying, like almost everyone else on this site. You can probably do a quarter squat. I will delete my account if you can do it.

Whether or not she can or can't do it, it wouldn't be Getbig if someone didn't doubt someone else's lift. Besides, people make stuff up on the internet all the time. I thought that was pretty normal, too. I think it is usual only for the elite to squat more than deadlift.
