Title: Well it's official, I'm now a Certified Personal Trainer!
Post by: Wiggs on May 18, 2018, 11:30:01 AM
Well ladies and gents, Continuing my life transformation, from moving to Florida from Vegas, I've been enrolled in a personal training program the last 4 1/2 months. Fulltime schedule from 9am - 4pm Mon. - Fri. Practical and Theory.  I graduated recently and it's one of the most fulfilling accomplishments I've had in a while.  Let me state this isn't some certificate program online like pretty much all of them. They may be book smart but they have no practical experience on any of it.  Hell even with a Bachelor's there's no practical experience.  Part of my schools curriculum is practical experience. We're talking from how to bench press through German High Volume Training. It's well worth the money (Thank's Post 9/11 G.I. Bill). Anyway, I've unlearned things I've done in the past and I've armed myself with alot of new information that makes me very formidable. I also brought my own non-mainstream ideas that go against current thinking in regards to nutrition, in which I've proven my case time and again.   Anyway, I'm looking forward to helping the general population and then I'll find my niche.  I graduated at the top of my class (true story) as only a Getbigger does so a big box gym that loves getting employees from our school heard about me and I was hired even before I graduated.

I'll take this opportunity to learn the business end of personal training and get some good OJT in for about a year and then I'm out on my own, If I can do it sooner I will, but no later than a year.  I'm going to begin building my clientele now. I also start massage therapist school June 4th that's until Jan 2019  :( but G.I. Bill pays for that and I'll be working at the gym and training clients on the side till I go out on my own with massage therapy and personal training. Between those two and on my own, I can go anywhere in the world and still make great money because I'm going to be great at what I do as I always have been.

What's going to make me stand out apart from every other personal trainer?  First off, my school. Second, I was at the top of my class, third, the knowledge I bring outside that, last but not least, I don't conform to conventional thinking and I know how to get result and that's what clients want FUCKING RESULTS. I believe in fasting. I'm a huge advocate.  I believe anyone overweight or obese should fast the weight off, then adopt a healthy lifestyle with intermittent fasting. You can also put muscle or just maintain your weight as well. Can you become a Mr. Olympia intermittent fasting?  Not under today's judging and what they look for.  But I'm in the health and fitness business.  These guys may be fit but they're certainly not healthy. Anyway, fasting folks it's all about fasting.  It's not about just calories in/out.  There are hormonal responses when in a fasted state that maximize fat oxidation.  i.e. ketosis, GH dramatic increase, testosterone dramatic increase and so many others.  Fasting is meant to clean and detox our bodies and in the face of the obesity epidemic, this is the ultimate answer, it's free and it's healthy. You've been lied to about the dangers and benefits to keep you sick.  You are a commodity and you being healthy is worse less than you being sick. You have to educate yourself and see through the bullshit. If you want to live a long healthy life, fasting needs to be apart of your life style. My school may not condone my line of thinking but I'm speaking as me and this why I'm gonna make wonga hand over fist. Because I'll get results and other suck ass trainers wont and let me tell you there are alot of suck ass trainers that know shit about nutrition or training. I'm just gonna carve out my little niche here in Florida, change peoples lives, make my wonga and relax.

If you have any questions fitness or health related, you have an additional resource in me (better than asking these hacks called doctors who know shit all about nutrition or exercise, hell, they can't cure shit....anyway) But let me tell ya, I'm not gonna be shy or nice about calling bullshit when I see it. Fast the fat off, adopt a new lifestyle after the fasting as sugar and other addiction will be broken after the fast. Intermittent fast and exercise and your set.  Whenever you're sick, fast! Overweight?  Fast!  Fasting should be apart of our lives!

You know, we flipped tires and while I was doing it, I thought Chaos is one strong sob, those tires are no joke for a good overall testosterone inducing workout.

No.  One of biggest scams, is this eating 5-6 times per day deal.  What a crock of shit.  Every time you eat no matter what you eat your insulin levels rise.  They rise even more with carbohydrates and sugar.  When your insulin levels rise, you stop burning fat and go into fat storing mode. Furthermore, Eating that often doesn't take advantage of the fat burning found with fasting and the other hormonal advantages. Eating often makes and keeps you in an inflamed state. Chronic inflammation via toxification is the problem. By the way, you don't lose muscle while fasting that can only happen one way, when you deplete your body's fat storages and continue to fast, that's now starvation.  For those that want to bring up gluconeogenesis, that only occurs for the short period while your body is getting into ketosis.  That's on average 72 hours, 3 days. then it's burning nothing but your fat storage. You're ghrelin levels decrease so you won't be hungry.  You can even exercise and be healthy on a fast.  I'm using myself as an example.  This includes resistance training. You burn even more fat training in a fasted state, in ketosis and if the intensity is high enough, you get the EPOC effect. This is the fastest and healthiest way to lose weight. It's even better than DNP which is the fastest and deadliest way to lose weight. So yes, fasting is indeed important and needed.  Even if you don't want to lose weight.  It's the body's cleansing and detox mechanism.

Thought you were going to school to become a registered nurse? The only personal trainers that I have ever heard of making money worked in Manhattan for rich people. Another guy actually made a gym in the back of a box truck and made house calls. I don't know of any gym that would let you free lance in their gym.

Before we can congratulate you can you tell us which school you graduated from?

Strange that you would bring your non-mainstream ideas on nutrition to your new place of employment.

This is seriously the truth.  And a robot cannot do your job.

Unless you have Gwyneth Paltrow as a client, personal training is not a moneymaker.

Man, some of you guys are brutal. Lucky for me none of what you say is true. You gents have hate in your hearts for whatever reason and youre using me as your punching back. It shows your hate, insecurity, wickedness, racist, and finally pathetic way of being. Because I'm smart enough to understand this none of what you say is valid. Your words are dog shit on the street and can be maneuvered around if you see the dog shit. Every once in a while, you step in some but as you get more experienced, you know what to look out for.

You losers have taugh me alot about the nature of some people and how to handle it, so thanks for the lessons. But keep doing your job. Haters hate. Try supporting your fellow man that's trying to do good in fucked world.

You people can be so primitive and evil. Find God, then you'll be alot happier and understand how this world really is. Then you can build your life around that. You deserve it and everything else to come and my people too that follow you. But again I take and am thankful for the nice comments, I really do appreciate all them as for the negatives like this old man with nothing else to do in his life "The Scott",  here's a guy where for the last two years has been responding to what I say and I have never acknowledged his existence until now. Not hatin' on you, just hope you have a real skill to make a living with while you have fun with your new hobby being a PT, telling gym fools proper squat form and how it's important to take BCAAs before a session.

CONGRTS, Wiggs!

No attempt to be negative but here are some serious questions ....

What percentage of your PT income does the gym in which you work take?
It used to be zero percent but I have heard that it could be more than 50% today.

Are personal trainers now gym employees or independent contractors?

I have been told that those PT's who open their own business  and train wealthy clients within the  privacy of the client's own home are among the most successful within the PT industry.

Especially the PT's who have Los Angeles clients  within the motion picture production industry .....  such as actors who have to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time to appear attractive in front of the  camera which they claim  ...... adds 30 pounds to their on-screen persona.

I suggest that you consider that possibility once you get on your two front feet within the Miami area.  ............. and beyond!!

And the serious question is  ..... What fasting plan do you recommend?

And did you put Nursing School aside on a permanent basis?

Don't take it as hate.  Its clear that you never asked anyone who has done personal training...me, Palumbo, Doug Steele....hell even Vince Basile would have been beneficial so let me give you my opinion on this based on my experience:

1.  Success in Personal Training has more to do with business management and marketing your services.

2.  You spent 3 months in class for something that you could have gotten in one day.   If you were going to take some actual classes with a minimal amount of time, it should have been massage therapy or physical therapy.  With that being said, most major gyms nowdays are wanting to hire people with a degree in exercise science.   You might find a small gym to work for but you'll make peanuts.   Your best bet is to either work independently like I did doing in-home personal training or go back to school and obtain that degree in exercise science or another related field.

3.   You have absolutely no experience working in a gym so even if one takes a chance on you, you're going to get your ass kicked by other trainers.  Its a very competitive environment and you're going to find out the hard way.  Better stock up on cans of tuna and hardtack because its going to take a few months to build a substainable clientele....if you can

4.  You are counting on a one income method of making a living so you better build some more sources.   That's why I also sold exercise equipment, supplements, and other related items.  You can get my assistance on that by clicking on the link below if you wish.

https://www.advocare.com/10111822/distributor/become-a-distributor

Wiggs, I wish you good luck on this nonetheless but just to be brutally honest, its 2018 and the standards have changed in the world of personal training to where a degree in exercise science is expected

Bullshit. Google PT jobs. This is all you need to work at a big chain like 24 hours fitness.
1.) High School Diploma or GED,
2.) CPR, AED certification,
3.) and one of the following:
Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Fitness or related field or an approved Personal Training Certification (listed below):
ACSM, ACE, Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research, C.H.E.K, IFPA, NASM, NCSF, NESTA, NETA, NFPT, NSCA, PTA Global, W.I.T.S.

Base pay is 14 bucks an hour, plus training classes. So yeah, not rich, if you don't have any clients, but he can work at a big chain easily.

Base pay for QUALIFIED personnel with degrees.   I didn't say Wiggs couldn't get a job but not one at a reputable facility like Sportsclub of Greenville or D1 Sports for example that pay the big bucks and require a degree.  Any jackass can get a job at Gold's or Planet Fitness but he'll be making about 9 bucks an hour.   Also take into account that Wiggs lives in Florida so even if he happened to get 14 bucks an hour, he would be financially ruined.

He needs something with more substance...occupational therapy as one person mentioned, massage therapy, etc.   Wiggs would make a killing with Massage Therapy as there are a lot of old fucks around.

I'm having my own business PT and massage therapy of which ill be licensed in Jan. I'll do both and be fine. Keep in mind I have a degree in business and am also not a stranger to business and sales.

I don't think most white people would be comfortable working with an African-American personal trainer or massage therapist - and whites have most of the disposable income to spend on nonsense like this. I'm not racist but I generally don't take African-Americans very seriously. For example, when I hear the OP talking about his business degree I assume he got it as a result of affirmative action. Similarly, I would discount any of his fitness theories because I would assume he has a lower IQ than me and any physical success he's had is simply due to genetics. I feel like 99 percent of the white population thinks like this, which makes it very hard for African-Americans to succeed in personal service businesses.

1. guess how many times I've been asked if Im certified as a trainer? maybe 3 times. Nobody gives a shit if your certified
2. Working for youself is more money, but working in a big gym....you will bang tons of sluts. I would get beautiful women literally handed over to me. Being a trainer, even if your making shit money, is still a position of power in there eyes.
3. you can do well in florida...I guess. But there are better places in my opinion. Long Island (the hamptons)...beverly hills. You can charge fat fucks 150 an hour all day long and they really just want someone to talk to. People enjoy spending money out there. You will do great in south beach as there is money in Miami but it is very seasonal so you will deal with a lot of clients coming and going. I was debating moving there at one point but the fact that very few people live there year round made me decide to hold off on it.
4. Being a private trainer, remember your training most people when they get off work. That means 5pm-9pm your working...and also very early hours. Makes having a social life difficult. Also make sure your clients are good people to be around, a negative client will bring negative energy into your life.

All in all after doing this two years I can honestly say I'm burnt out of it, and bored. But hey it pays the bills. Eventually I would like to open up my own private gym, but not to make money because most gyms fail.... I would open it strictly because I want my own equipment and my own gym to workout in. Ill keep the members under 100, and they will be hot sluts mostly.

Congrats Wiggs.

Vince Wiggs has a bachelor's so you're off with your assessment. I know a couple of personal trainers for box gyms, they aren't the brightest or educated. The LA fitness in my area just offered certification with a 2 day weekend class, and in turn for completing it employment.

Massage therapist' aren't making "big" money either, most people go to commercial places like Massage Envy or whatever Asian based palor is around, those places pay more if you sell product.

All job industry's are tough and competitive, don't shoot down Wiggs because he's going into the field you left.

As was said if he is passionate and works he will do well. Period

That right there is satire.. but the OP is serious. He really thinks graduating at the top of a PT course matters...

Got to it love when pompous liberals shit on others for what do for a living or even try to better their lives. But here's a little fact. Wiggs plays his cards right and makes an actual business out it, in time will make a hell of a lot more than someone that's a college grad. In his demographic (either LV or Fla) he could make as much as $150k working less than 30-35hrs week and on top of that, he'll make great connections.

So the potential earnings of a PT are better than a college grad?

Depends. Unless you’re a Doctor, Attorney with a thriving practice (some other exceptions I’m sure) I would say yes, especially just coming out of college and even that, most are in debt up to their ass for the first what? 10, 20 years?

I was being facetious.

A smart and successful trainer might pull in 150K or so - and even then very few indeed make that consistently no matter what BS they say. Usually they take their best week and extrapolate that out over a year, failing to take into account holidays, sick time etc.

A smart and successful graduate has a much higher earnings potential and a career with longevity.

You're comparing the top 0.1% of trainers to the bottom tier of graduates, which is an unfair comparison.

Whilst a 21yr old trainer unencumbered by debt in an affluent city with good chat and hustle can make more than a lot of 21yr old grads, that advantage dissipates fast in most cases. Or do all the 40yr old trainers disappear because they've made enough cash to retire on?

Again, depending on the degree, I agree 100%

You're comparing the top 0.1% of trainers to the bottom tier of graduates, which is an unfair comparison.

Well, the comparison is more than that because you have to take into consideration of the sub-categories and demographics for personal trainers.

Whilst a 21yr old trainer unencumbered by debt in an affluent city with good chat and hustle can make more than a lot of 21yr old grads, that advantage dissipates fast in most cases. Or do all the 40yr old trainers disappear because they've made enough cash to retire on?

If someone has begun their PT careers at 21 and they were smart with their money (investments, retirement, etc) they can retire in 20 years with a comfortable living. But, it's still a business. You'll lose clients and gain clients, there has to be a system in place like any other business to adjust.

I was ready for an argument so your reasonableness has caused me massive disappointment!

Bottom line, I know more than I want to about the industry and it's not one I'd want my children to go into. Whilst it's easy money up to a certain point if you can hustle, it's extremely hard to build a scaleable business that has real long term value.

My goal is to work for myself.

Will you begin by working for a gym or gyms to build your clientèle? Trainer's, message therapist's and hairdresser's customers are often loyal and will follow them anywhere once you've built a rapport with them. Is this what you are counting on to grow your business? If so, half of their loyalty depends on your expertise and the other half depends on whether they like you as a person.

The Las Vegas market is likely very competitive. You must go above and beyond your competition to achieve success.

No, the coach doesn't like me, so he will throw facts to the wind just to argue against my point. My point is, this isn't Harvard, this is a PT course. Where you graduate in the class doesn't make a bit of difference. Coach disregarded that point to create a false argument about earnings.... forgot what they call that but I'm sure there is a name for it. Maybe Strawman can help me out on that...

Ok, first, I'm not shitting on a mans choice. I'm commenting on a statement I find naive. That is, that people will actually care which number he was in his PT course. It is completely irrelevant. The bottom of a medical class still graduates as a doctor, and I guarantee you most patients have no idea where they were in their class. Compare that to a PT course.. you really think people will care if he was number 3 or number 20? I hope he does well, it's entirely up to him and how hard and smart he works. That he thinks that matters, coupled with the fact he thinks the earth is flat, causes me to wonder how successful he will actually be. But hey, it's all up to him and I hope he does fine.

I worked as a personal trainer when I was in my early 20s.  It had its moments but it's a tough way to make a living.  Success comes from salesmanship first, not from experience/knowledge.  The hours are shitty, as early mornings & late nights are when most people are available to train.  And you'll constantly have to keep "working" the gym to get more clients.  The grind never stops.

Most of the people that share your passion for training will just look online for guidance, so you're left with bored housewives and old men--and dont get me started on the bored housewives.  They will tell you the most inane, boring stories and you'll have no choice but to feign interest for fear of losing a client.  Truthfully, I feel like most people that keep paying for personal training are just lonely and want to have someone to talk to.  Nothing wrong with that but I hated listening to their bullshit.

The employment benefits at most gyms are slim, and PTO is pretty much unheard of.  So if you get the flu that could leave you without pay for 7+ days.  Nevermind taking a vacation.  And god forbid you should hurt yourself in a manner that leaves you unable to train for a few months .. that could bankrupt you.

Who knows, Wiggs might be a pretty good PT.  I wish him all the success in the world.  But I suspect personal training may not be everything that he's imagining it to be.

Plyometrics are a complete waste of time. I tested my vertical jump the other day and it was 31 inches. I’m a heavy ass mofo and don’t do any direct jumping. They tax the CNS too heavily..In most cases you can predict an athletes 40 yard dash and vertical jump by their max trap bar deadlift/weight ratio.

I know for fact Jay Cutler was working as a personal trainer out of a private gym in Miami even after he made his money....one of my current clients saw him there back in the day training people.  He was probably charging $400 an hour or something rediculous I imagine.

Coach is a good guy but he is in Santa Ana and people down that way towards Orange County are notoriously cheap as fuck with a lot of money so I imagine he deals with a lot of frustration. Beautiful area, beautiful women, great beaches but I can’t deal with cheap people.

There lots of different kinds of polys

But yeah depth jumps are maybe too much

Complete waste of time for who?

I should’ve been more specific I meant not optimal. Ben Johnson was arguably the most explosive sprinter of all time and did very little plyometric work. The easiest way to become faster is to become stronger.  The larger your strength base the more room for plyometric work to benefit you. A guy with a triple bw  squat for example is probably going to benefit more from plyometric work if increasing his vertical jump and getting faster is his goal. Most athletes, even at the pro level, are too weak for this to be an issue.

Ok, so. Yes, Ben Johnson did do plyos. Not much in the traditional sense that you might be thinking but like most track athletes (elite) there are a SHITLOAD of “plyos incorporated in track workouts. Skips and bounds or really anything eccentric/concentric (stored elastic energy - short/stretch reflex) ankling for example is a low impact plyo.

You claim to have 20 years experience in your field. What science have you done? So I conclude you claim knowledge from experience.

I accept that bodybuilders usually provide better information than certified trainers when it comes to resistance training. You have to

agree that this experience is hardly science.

As to the science of exercise, well, some things make sense and others seem senseless.   If it works for you, it works for you.  Underneath it all we are all pretty much the same but each person is a variation on that theme of humanity and will respond according to their genetic makeup.  Drugs just make that response far more pronounced.

No drugs and you'd still have a Franco Columbu or a Lee Priest but they'd just be a whole lot dinkier muscle wise.  Height without steroids might mean a person will grow taller as male hormones signal the arrival of maturity and as such tend to signal your body to stop growing taller.  I think that's why so many top bodybuilders today are relatively short.  They started taking stuff before they reached maturity and BAZINGA! You've got a Lee Priest! "Dinkier"?  Damn that reads funny!

It was satire trying to do personal training in Sylva, NC.   I had literally no competition due to the only other trainer was a old guy who drove around in a van with a Bowflex.  Problem was that there was hardly any customers that were interested.  Fortunately, I trained enough people to cover the cost of expanding my online business where I made my money   Then Catamont Crossfit came along and that pretty much squashed my PT business like a bug but by that time it didn't matter as my online business took off.

I do wish those that made it or attempted to make it as a personal trainer would chime in and let Wiggs know the ranking in his class is irrelevant and he will only look silly bringing it up. He lists it as one of the reason he will be successful when others failed. What will make him successful has NOTHING to do with his ranking.. Doesn't mean he won't be successful in spite of the odds, but I don't want him to have some false sense of accomplishment and think because he was in the top 10% of his personal training course that it will matter one iota to the client.

Instead of bleating on about aliens, flat earth, different planets, he might want to look at what an utter scam the education industry is, the same one that suckered him into paying 8k for fuck all.

In all honesty, why did he give up on the nursing thing? That would’ve been a great career. Too lazy to see it through?

There is a nursing shortage. I know nurses that are "traveling nurses" that make a great living doing that. You can almost pick where you want to live. But the schooling is intense, and you have to pass the test

60 years....its doesn't mean shit because you never excelled at bodybuilding and you wasted your years "managing a gym" which is the same as turn on and off the lights and cleaning the equipment.  You are not part of the "Golden Age Of Bodybuilding" because you never took it to the next level required to be competitive and now you live regretting it.   No magazine or publication will lift a keystroke about you at the end of the day for you.  When you finally go, your gym equipment remaining including that bicep supinator will be hauled off to the junkyard and melted down for soda cans.  When you go, you won't get a card from Frank Zane, Arnie, Franco, Platz, or anyone else.

No one will remember you in bodybuilding because you never did anything...memorable.

1. Where did you mention depth jumps?

2. No they're not for very advanced athletes. They should be and can be taught at a young age.

LOL. Melvin you finally get a dwelling and figure you are doing great. Good for you. I certainly don't envy you, your job, your physique, your vehicle, etc.

Joe is doing well at what he does. I couldn't do that because I don't subscribe to much of what he does. Like I said, you have to be sort of average to do personal training.

In September this year I will have 60 years experience lifting weights and bodybuilding. That doesn't mean much but it does represent a long time doing the same thing.

Because you don't understand it. Are we talking about the same thing? Just what are you talking about, Vince?

Another possible theory is that shorter men sometimes turn to bodybuilding to compensate for their diminutive stature. Whether or not steroids negatively affect one's height depends on when they started taking them and when they would have otherwise reached their final height. Some people stop growing taller in their late teens while others continue growing until their mid-twenties. I topped out at around 16 and didn't start TRT and D-bol for at least two more years.

Jan 21, 2018 - The fastest rate of growth is usually 1 to 2 years after puberty has started. Developing physically into an adult takes 2 to 5 years. Most boys will stop growing taller by age 16 and will usually have developed fully by 18.

I’m talking about applied plyometrics and freaking Vince is talking about bodybuilding  ::)

Plyometrics is what you teach or coach, but don't you also coach weight training and bodybuilding? Do you include the plyo jump when coaching the tire flip? I imagine there is more call for strength and endurance training for athletics than there is for bodybuilding. I believe bodybuilders are still a niche group of people.

You look to be in good condition in your website photo. In some other photos, you appear to have a bit of a struggle with your own weight. You are still advertising as a personal trainer who specializes in weight loss. Does this affect your credibility with clients wanting to lose weight?

This is something that I don't think I will ever understand. I see trainers at the gym that appear to be in average to obese shape. While an obese trainer may have all the knowledge in the world, why would a client trust them to help them lose weight when they obviously can't follow their own advice? Now I realize this doesn't apply to every sport or training scenario. But weight is something they have control over and yet they don't conquer that challenge, and want you to pay them to help you conquer yours. I think they probably have a second job that pays the bills or live at home.

Sorry, Joe, save your posts because I won't be debating this issue with you. I don't consider you an authority in exercise science.

You are entitled to your opinion. However, until you've personally observed Coach's training methods, your opinion does not mean much to other folks around here.

It seems like having a functional degree of fitness interests more people than just looking muscular. This is what I've observed when working out at the gym.

On the other hand, it does not seem fair that your physique be compared to Coach's. Aren't you about twenty years older than he is? I don't know about you, but the quality of my physique is not what it was when I was in my 50's.

Don't read into it that much as its Huntington Beach where a 2 bedroom condo sells for 600k.    ;D

Recently, I checked out three of the houses I lived in while growing up and was surprised to discover that all of them are valued at more than 1 mil. one of them was valued at over 2 mil. All of them are nice homes and located in good neighborhoods, but they are pretty much average homes. One is in West Los Angeles near Rancho Golf Course and the other two are in Encino. So, you are correct that a million dollar home in Huntington Beach isn't a big deal, probably well below the average home value there.

I NEVER go above 24” and usually keep it around. There are a lot of variables to a 42” depth jump and very few if any would convince me to go that high.

On IronAge, he was moaning how Frank Zane PO him  :-\

I have a lot of friends who work within the medical industry ....doctors, nurses, and medical technicians.

Each of them love their jobs and are well paid, so I hope that Wigg's decision (right or wrong) has no affect on those GetBiggers who may be planning a medical career of some sort.

Here's a rough idea of nursng salaries with the Northern California area:

The median salary for a registered nurse was $68,450 in 2016. The best-paid 10 percent of RNs made more than $102,990, while the bottom-paid 10 percent earned less than $47,120.

Registered nurse jobs are set to grow 15 percent, which is faster than the average for all occupations. More nurses will be needed in long-term rehabilitation facilities and outpatient care centers.

The highest paid in the registered nurse profession work in the metropolitan areas of San Francisco, Santa Cruz, California, Vallejo,  San Jose, and Salinas, California.

I have been told that traveling nurses can make up to $10,000 a month.

Did Wiggs mention why he left nursing school.

One final recommendation for those who may be interested in a medical career.

In many cases MEDICAL TECHNICIANS are hired at an early age and are trained on the job with no prior medical education. (No four years of college!)

I think they do. I know a few that got hired at private offices but I don't think the pay was in line with what nurses at major hospitals can make. I think nursing offers a lot of different paths within nursing. It's not something I was ever interested in, but for someone who is, and is looking for a career vs a job, I think that is something to seriously consider.

A lot of the females in my family are in the medical field. Most are RNs. Yes, non-hospital pays well, but certain positions in the hospital pay very well too. One family member is a surgery RN, and she get paid $$$. Way more then her stupid, lazy husband does.

Congrats on the accreditation.

RE the fasting, what youre saying may be accurate. But for me I've noticed I simply cannot train with any sort of intensity with weights if I'm starved. Even if I havent had a meal within 2 hours of a workout, the workout will suffer to the tune of 30-50% less work expended. So for me, cardio fasted is an option or on rest days fasting can be utilised, but I simply cannot train with weights effectively without eating regular meals on that day. Believe me I've tried. But i'm sure everyone is different.

His fasting statement is questionable. I haven't read a single study that supports fasting in any reputable journal. I admit I may not have read the latest journal but his statement that no muscle loss occurs until all body fat is burned up is a huge red flag. The fact he believes the earth is flat forces me to put anything he says in the "not probable" file

There was a TV show about this bloke who investigated fasting. He went to various places and tried different protocols. Some were several days. Others were on the weekend and still others were something like every second day. Biggest problem was social. If he hung out with mates who were drinking and eating it was difficult if not impossible to sustain.

Just shows how extreme = crazy some people are. Wiggs bought that fasting idea wholesale. There he was at the top of his class but still harbouring crazy ideas. WTF is he thinking? Well, he is a Truther and they get many of their beliefs from the internet. The end of the world as we know it didn't occur as predicted several times by Wiggs. He isn't stupid but he really has little idea what to believe and what to discard. Since he insists on keeping his Christianity this colours many of his choices, etc.

I honestly feel he never recovered from that rejection by a white woman. He is still recoiling from that dent. Wonder if he will target white women as clients?

The big problem for a guy who gets his advices and ideas from the internet is that they can change at any time by even crazier ideas.

God please shut up

had a good chuckle at a gym advertising a 24yr old community college graduate girl as a "master trainer with 3yrs experience" or some shit. lol

Put yoga pants and a tank top on a girl with neon shoes who doesn't have a belly and she thinks she's a "fitness girl", even though those "3yrs experience" means she's had a gym membership for 3yrs.

Lycra & very visible camel toe would help her  8)

Do you believe in alternating hard days with easy days?

And how many hard days per week do you believe that an athlete can train?

One final recommendation for those who may be interested in a medical career.

In many cases MEDICAL TECHNICIANS are hired at an early age and are trained on the job with no prior medical education. (No four years of college!)

That's what I did. I became a registered Technologist. It pays around 30 bucks an hour after doing it for a few years. I'm studying right now to get another registration it will bump my salary up 10 percent. I went to college played football at a small school I got a degree in health physical education. The degree is kind of useless but it has gotten my foot in the door places. If I could do it all over I would of went to nursing school right out of high school when I was use to hard studying.

Do you mean heavy or light as in the weightroom or just training in general? We go hard everyday, intensity will vary also depends how close they are to camps or seasons. Wednesday’s are recovery days, pool workouts, Normatec, Thera guns, massage, acupuncture, cupping, etc

I am in my 60s and have heard that TRT is helpful.  I am not a candidate despite having a very low testosterone level so I can't give any personal experience with it but have heard good things from friends and co-workers.

Otherwise, I do vary my workouts in that I train either very light with high sets and reps or (relatively) heavy with low sets/reps and sometimes in between.  After several decades of training, there really is nothing new under the sun.  I sometimes do H.I.T. but will again vary it by doing it in the traditional way with heavy weights and low reps/sets or the higher (still to failure) reps with lighter weight )but still not too many sets.  Maybe six total per body part.    It is no less intense with light weights  and high reps, or at least that is  how it is for me. I usually train no more than 4 times per week but have done six days a week for a couple of weeks at a time.

I used to do the old "giant sets" routine for up to 25 or 30 total sets per body part but the last few years I have backed off on that as it wears me out big time.   The thing to come to grips with is that our ego is quite often still the biggest thing on us.  It bothers me to see myself age and it is definitely a crime that we grow old.

I am certain that Coach knows more than I do but I do know what I use for myself and hope this proves helpful to you.

I’m 55 turning 56 in August. This is some pretty solid advice. A couple of years ago I switched back to a more bodybuilding type of training because I blew both shoulders out getting ready for a IPF meet. Main thing is of course maintaining lean body mass. More lean body mass the efficient the body will run.

I’m a HUGE advocate of HRT even at more than prescribed (but not much more). Limit your time in under the sun but just enough to stay healthy.

20-30min of cardio EOD or Everyday

Bodybuilding is a lifetime lifestyle if done right

Ok, Im on HRT/ at about 950/  I am a sun worshipper and I can't see that changing. I do 20 min HIIT about 4 times a week and lift medium weights 5 to 6 times a week.

On a side note, we have a group of friends that are in their 30's. Of the 6 males, I am probably in the best shape. This doesn't mean they won't live 20 years longer than I will, but it is a good feeling when I can keep up with them in basketball. It reminds me that the time I spend in the gym isn't all for nothing

Age is only a number, Bernard The Excuctioner Hopkins fought on the elite pro level into his 50'son

Of course genetics plays a very strong role here

Sun exposure ages your skin incredibly.  Makes your skin like leather.

Cigs, boozing, and meth are right up there too.
