Title: ERNIE TAYLOR RETIRES
Post by: JasonH on April 13, 2006, 01:55:57 PM
Read on another forum that Ernie Taylor is going to announce his retirement. Apparently the injuries he sustained in his motorcycle accident were too severe and are still too noticeable so he's decided to call it a day.

I hope he enjoys his retirement. He will be in trouble if his arms don't shrink as much as the rest of his body :-\

when he placed 3rd at the NOC in 97 for his pro debut, and the fact that he trained at dorian's gym, he was considered the next big thing.  nothing really materailized.

from there on, he would do the arnold sometimes but mostly the NOC and place 5th or 6th, qualify for the O and get @ 10th place.

he could never improve his legs and the whole tricep issue.

ernies triceps held him back, he was continuously overlooked at shows and shunted to the back. He finally came good when he placed 2nd in 2 consecutive shows after being pipped by Jay Cutler

Grundy- you wouldnt accept a fight with anyone for anything. you talk alot and yeah, big deal you are sponsored. oh, and you practice it. which is very cool. but stop talking like you are a fighter. you have already admitted you arent a fighter. you refuse to fight anyone unless you get some huge ass payday. but you are an untested fighter. skilled in the basic levels of the game. you have muscle. but muscle is only worth about 10% in the ring. yeah, if you hold someone they arent going to move too much. but you are hampered by muscle more than helped by it. which since you do train regularly, you already know.

maybe one day you will be a good fighter. but that takes fighting first.

More than happy to box him! That was what we originally planned to do. I hope his injuries are not to bad as I know what it feels like to recover from surgery. We do not like each other, but I do not wish for him to be physically impaired as he was a good bodybuilder minus all the site injections.

exactly.

that rational makes no sense.  obvisouly, if someone is hurt and cant bbing, which really means they cant lift weights like they used to. i dont seen how he can train in mma or any other sport.

you can call me a keyboard warrior all you want. maybe it sounds that way. and if it does that isnt my intention. i also train MMA. and i have for a little while. and i cant wait to get into a ring and give it a go. if i get beat up on, so be it. you can only learn so much with predetermined strikes and blocks and set up groundwork. you have to test what you can do in a situation for real. you need that extra bit of competition to better yourself and to really learn where you need to improve. im not worried about a paycheck. im not worried about getting hurt. i mean, christ, this is a violent sport. to not want to fight because you may get hurt really bad is completely counterproductive to training in this sport.

if you train as a boxer, but refuse to get into the ring, are you really a boxer? if you take a drivers course in high school, does that make you a forumla one race car driver? screw the money. nobody has ever been paralyzed in this sport. nobody has died. the worst you get is a few bumps and bruises and some cuts and blood. so the F what? you heal up and get past it. refusing to get bumped up is just admitting your fear. thats why i spoke up. to be a sponsored athlete for an MMA type company but be too scared to get into the ring is just wrong.
