Title: Edit: The Mr. Olympia Contest Has Been Revived!!!
Post by: Royal Lion on September 14, 2018, 09:48:31 PM
How refreshing to have a humble, inspiring champion who won for all the right reasons — structure, symmetry, condition, small waist. There’s a well-needed new energy that is back in the contest.  (iHerb.com still sucks)

How pathetic that the Mr. O, supposedly the Super Bowl of bodybuilding,is being webcast on iHerb.com (wtf is that?) and the streaming doesn’t even work. Clearly Phil has taken the “sport” to new heights in terms of mainstream popularity and sponsor funding as the soon to be 8-time “ambassador.”  Not sure how the IFBB could expect anything different as this demise was foreseeable. As a fan of the Haney/Dorian/Ronnie/(even Jay) eras, I am somewhat saddened to see the Mr. O contest in such sad form. What little of it actually streamed was terrible, most of the competitors are no names, and the only contenders are felons, past their prime, or would rather be stripping.  Goodbye professional bodybuilding. You were never mainstream, but at least you were interesting and motivating to a degree. Now you’re just plain awful.

I wrote this two weeks ago and go savaged for it. Even Ron got triggered about it. Turns out I was right, as usual.

lol, bodybuilding's biggest show as a free webcast on a website forum.

Boy has this sport fallen far from where it once was. What a joke.

Watching a re-broadcast on Youtube is about the same quality as mid 2000s stream on BB.com...I'm out haha.

With more media outlets than ever broadcasting stupid shit like 3rd world MMA fights, it’s amazing how much incompetence must’ve gone into the iherb deal.

The Olympia died when Joe and Ben Weider died.  No other promoter has the passion for it and the contestants look like giant bloated trolls.  It cannot be saved and will not recover.

I haven't even bothered to watch the farce this weekend.

WTF is iHerb? A marijuana app for iPhone?

I agree. The top guys are so far from the ideal body type that it's embarrassing.

Nobody wants to look like the current crop of bodybuilders.

Bring back the 70s!

Agreed.  Even that so called, "Classic Physique" division sucks compared to the 70s through the mid 80s.  It might be a combination of all drugs all the time and everyone having access to them.  And shitty training.

I watched Pumping Iron on Netflix last week after not having seen it for years. The physiques were so much better and the bodybuilders had actual personalities. The "sport" of bodybuilding today is a mess of egos, narcissism, and drugs. Makes me sad.

Pro bodybuilding's fall has been long and hard. Bring back the 60's. There's nothing about the current pro bodybuilding competitions fiasco to inspire anyone.

With all the subject specific cable channels, you'd think there would be one for bodybuilding and weight training.

Fucking pathetic,  I have to watch the Olympia through Dennis James's Instagram,  his Iphone has better quality footage and no dodgy bandwidth connection. For anyone interested he goes live from his phone, he has front row seats so its not so bad, but man what a joke.

Worth watching just to hear the bay clones gasp in delight.

They wouldn't be able to get on ESPNU or ESPN 2 now.

On a day like today there are around 20 games available on Dish at any time from noon to midnight including such great games as Lehigh vs. Navy and Towson vs. Villanova but not the greatest bodybuilding show on Earth.  ::)

So, now that IHerb totally sucks, is there any other website livestreaming it?
