Ford is the great white hope.
He's muscular enough to be able to stand with Ngannou
-
PHEW
Got worried that Darren was turning on Martyn Ford for a sec there
It's the end of the world iff Martyn lost even Darrel as a fan!
Ask yourself as a musclebound fighter, if you don't even have Darrem as a fan, what do you have?
All is well then Darryn!

Tank Abbott loved the bench press. And unlike you... he actually fought people. You might be a fan of fighters, but you are just a bitch ass spectator.
-
if you got a strong bench and somebody gets full mount, you can just press them off you and return to your feet

Your e welcome to meet me in the alley by Genesis gym in Wembley and we ll see whos a fighter "Royalty"

And I didn't say no one who bench presses can fight, I said just because you bench press doesn't automatically mean you can fight like so many dildos out there think, read things more carefully rather than looking at your arm and imagining what tribal tattoo youre going to have there one day to show people your bad ass.
-
Darrel Avery-Logic
If you have some muscles, you can fight in the streets.
If you have a tribaltat to boot, you are a black belt in TapOut, UFC and Bellator.

???
bench press is the best exercise for punching power as the arms follow the same plain of motion as a punch.
a heavy bencher will always = a heavy puncher

I learned this gem from darren avey but he seems to have revamped his fighting theories.
maybe this change of mind is because he got battered recently by a twink on the cobbles.
-
Imagine the fighters the Gracies could have become if they just lifted weights all day. ::)

No.
Punching power comes from the lower body, hips, and core. Like throwing a ball, hitting a baseball, etc.

this is a darren avey thread. all talk is based on experience from the cobbles, da cage and from books/documentaries/films about UK gangsters

Yes, bench pressing actually hurts your punching power this is why boxers usually have very small pecs but big lats and wide shoulders. Quarterbacks in football and pitchers in baseball avoid benches like the plague.
-
bench helps with your ground game though
i reckon since i do a lot of benching i dont need to learn bjj

Nope, introduction of 5 minutes rounds + TV time limits screw MMA !.

Throw in a few bicep curls and you're a wrecking machine

Nope, I see big bench press guys all the time hit the heavy bag. Most punch like girls. A punch is all about power which is different from strength.
-
If you can bench = Grappling Master
If you can hit the bag = Striking Master
If you have a tribal tat = Tapout / UFC Master
Combine all three and you have Darryl Averagery
-
There's guys who can't bench their weight who can knock you into next week.
It's all about the Chi.

True, try to throw a ball with just your arm. It won't go far.
