Getbig is FAST. To be 74 years old is pretty amazing...he was squatting something like 660-lb at 66! He even beat Getbig's own Tommy Fell for elite strength over 50!

That's sad to hear. An icon of a trainer. A guy named Rick who died years ago from NE was creating a lot of champs and record setters his gf....I think at some point his wife Becca Swanson. So who will be the next great PL champ creator? I also wonder who will take over/if Westside will survive now that he's gone. Train in peace to a legend!

Rick Hussey / Big Iron Gym is who you're thinking of, he died of cancer around 5 years back.
Westside will continue probably if they want, his wife Doris is an ex-powerlifter, and knows the game. Louie also had some helpers that could keep it going for a while.
The next big gym owner / guru to come out of this is an interesting question - Bell has a good gym, but I wouldn't consider him a guru. Chris Duffin / Kabuki might throw his hat in the ring. Matt Wenning is ex-westside, and Louie gave him his props, but I'm not sure he'd want a powerlifting team, Tate / Elitefts is similar.
There are guys that could do it, but I'm not sure anyone wants a team anymore, and I'm not sure lifters want to be part of a Westside style team anymore where you actually have to be from that one singular gym.
It's like Gold's Venice and bodybuilding. You don't have to physically be there to be a champion anymore.

Yes, Hussey is correct. Knew him in my early years. Could be a good dude if he knew you or people that he was friends with told him not to fuck with you. Otherwise....

Right they are all wrapped up in triple triplex bodysuits when they do their stupid squats anyway and bench shirts etc etc
Forced reps, drop sets, pre exhaustion, bands, slow negatives, pyramids, shirt and suit assisted lifts, chains, timed reps and rest between sets that stuff is all bullshit just do regular sets and put that extra energy into recovery and nutrition

Its an invite only gym he only invites the genetically gifted with the powerlifting bodytype. A real guru would take people with shit genetics and make them awesome not just fine tune the genetically blessed. It is easy to be a great coach with great athletes. It is harder to actually take people without natural talent and teach and train them for success. Show me the 150lb ectomorph that he trained into a world champion powerlifter it didn't happen.
