Me and the wife will be going to see it tonight...
...Review coming eventually...
-
Cruise is so full of fucking shit, he really believes he can fly a fighter jet
He claims all the actors had to complete a three month training course devised by himself to get the role
what a stupid jerk
The daft twat is just sitting in a copilots seat and trying not to throw up
All that happens is they just sit there while planes fly past and start looking over their shoulders talking about "bogies"
And Top gun was pure faggotry
-
Was not a big fan of the first one.
-
Not going to pay to watch a military recruitment film.

In "Maverick"::) Cruise's character declares "I feel the need for speedos", which is a disgraceful woke update of Mr. Cruise's earlier desire to hasten. Maverick went from being a wholesome gay character in Top Gun to a promiscuous monkeypoxxer in "Maverick". >:(

I think you'll enjoy it, man. Tom Cruise is a weird little creep, and he's clearly said to them 'I'm only doing it if you make me the coolest, most amazing man on Earth who simply cannot fail'. However, it was kinda fun and stupid. Maybe part of it was just seeing things on the big screen again, but it was a laugh going to see it with friends.

Tom Cruise flew upside down over the Russian jet in the first movie.
And he turned Kelly Mcgillis into a lesbian.
He's awesome.

Haha, really? That one requires a no homo? I did just go and see The Lost City with my girlfriend, too. I think that one makes me gayer.
Would love to be part of that group (nh)
We can catch the midnight showing, brother.

I would never go to the cinema with a group of men
Its like going out for a meal with another man
TBH I dont like the comany of other men, most men are egotistical assholes
I would far sooner talk to a woman
If that makes me a homo then the world is totally skewed.

I'm exactly the same, actually. But these are my two best friends since childhood and I hadn't seen them in approx 8 months - so it was nice.

Top Gun: Maverick’ studio paid U.S Navy more than $11,000 an hour for fighter jet rides—but Tom Cruise wasn’t allowed to touch the controls

It’s true. The midget wanker freak thinks he’s actually a fighter pilot, etc.
Goofy little bastard.
Top Gun is a HUGE movie in my teen recollections. I did see it in the theatre. Thought it was pretty good. I was 16. Of course, it wasn’t Predator, Rocky 4, Rambo, Aliens, or Terminator.
Seeing it now on TV, it definitely has a monster cheese-and-flamer vibe.

Pretty sure Kelly Mcgillis getting raped by black dudes turned her lesbian.
I think it was sex gone wrong...
Despite her screams, McGillis was forced into the bedroom with a knife held to her face. The men took turns sexually assaulting the actress, all while spitting on, hitting and stabbing at her with the knife.
“They kept switching and telling me they were going to beat me until I was dead,” she told PEOPLE. “At that point I thought I would die, and I had resigned myself.”
Eventually, police arrived, chasing the men off and taking McGillis to the hospital. Both men were arrested within a month of the incident. One, a 15-year-old, served more than three years in prison. Charges against the second alleged attacker, 20, were dismissed, however, after fingerprints and evidence left at the scene failed to incriminate him.
she also claims gang rape by three men when she was 12
To be honest I sense shes a bit promiscuous , no one can be that unlucky

Saw it. Great movie, projected record opening. Avoids all the Woke BS and depravity, had broad mass appeal. Not flag waving or political or overly serious. Watch the first one again to get everything. Think GetBiggers will enjoy.

If anyone has watched the movie, let us know what your thoughts are if you were to compare it to the original Top Gun.
I'm on the fence, but if it's as good as the first one, I'll watch it at home.

I re-watched the original and then the next night saw the new one. I think it's got better action than original, more suspense. It's about the same as the first one overall on how good a movie it is, maybe a little better. Viewership and audiences have changed, today we won't put up as much with long dragged out scenes apparently going nowhere. The very minor character female pilot is really the only Woke aspect. It gets 99% audience and 97% critics on Rotten Tomatoes, so that's very broad appeal.

36 years ago when the original came out, I think it made everyone want to become a fighter pilot.
Iceman was the guy I think most people wanted to emulate. The guy gave off confidence and had the look people assumed of a pilot. Maverick was emotional, short and arrogant. He was a showoff likely due to a Napoleonic complex and used his father's passing and prior career as a great pilot as crutch to why he needed to constantly chase the greatness of a ghost.

Holy shit, just watched it and I have to admit, I'd rate it a 10/10.
For those who have yet to watch it, do yourself a favor and watch Top Gun first, before catching Maverick. If possible, watch the first movie the night before. It will help to set the stage and emotionally condition you for what comes afterwards.
I'd say this is the best movie Cruise has ever made. Better than the first one.

see, its things like this that makes me not want to watch things
All the people going crazy for "Breaking Bad" meant I didnt watch it.
If I did watch Top Gun and didnt like it I would just end up calling people twats for recommending it
-
I give it a 7.5/10. Thought the first half had a few corny parts like how they make Goose’s son look and act exactly like him all the way to the point where he’s playing “Great Balls of Fire” on the piano. Enjoyed the action towards the end and some of the nostalgia factors more so with Maverick than trying to work nostalgia into the new, younger characters

I guess it depends on your perspective. Top Gun was never my favorite movie of all time, but it was a classic 80's movie. The kind of thing that is synonymous to that era (much like the Rocky, Schwarzenegger, breakfast club, Bloodsport, Ferris Bueller, Lost Boys, stand by me movies), they were just the typical feel-good movies that the 80s were known for. I was always a fan of the 80's, so Top Gun Maverick brought that greatly appreciated nostalgic feeling.
Moreover, it's the kind of movie that most fans can appreciate regardless of age or background. Would I say it was the best movie I've ever seen? No. Has it been the best movie I've seen over the last 2-3 years? Easily.
Did Cruise do a good job? I thought so. He played the character as only he could.
If you haven't watched Breaking Bad by now (which I doubt, since you're a fan of better call Saul), watch it. It's the best TV show I've ever seen.
If you want a feel-good movie, that nostalgically takes you back to the 80's and has adrenaline-inducing action, check out Top Gun Maverick. I'm no movie critic and so I'm not over analyzing the acting in the film. No one in the film is Anthony Hopkins, but as for the actors being able to produce something that entertains for all 2hrs of the film, I'd say they did a great job.
If you do get a chance to watch it, please come back and give us your unbiased opinion.

Im going to finish Saul then start breaking bad
As for Top Gun and no doubt this movie it will be lost of planes passing each other and people in cockpits looking over their shoulders to try and see a plane thats about 5 miles away by the time they saw it coming
Its like the Bourne movies, I like them but they can be summed up in three lines
"Come on people we need to find this guy"
"My God, thats Jason Bourne"
"This ends tonight"

Could the success of Maverick spawn a revival of 80s style movies or are we only getting "woke" movies from now on?
-
Could the success of Maverick spawn a revival of 80s style movies or are we only getting "woke" movies from now on?
Great question.
I think Top Gun Maverick stayed true to the theme of the first movie. I didn't feel an overwhelming sense of "woke" bullshit playing out in it, to be fair. Movies today are of course more politically correct than anything was prior to 1990, but I think this one wasn't pushing the woke envelope. You know, they didn't have a female pilot that is transitioning into a male or scenes of a woman injecting testosterone while praying for that one chest hair to sprout. It was a regular old school movie, action, romance and kept to the story-like from the first.
Could we see a revival of 80s style movies? I'd love that, but I think woke culture won't allow that. We're fucked man. From soon having to surrender our guns, to dealing daily with gender-sensitive pronouns to even men having to sit on the toilet to pee, it's all going down the shitter.

Same here. I remember how corny the first one was so I have no desire to see the 2nd. Since Netflix came out I have watched probably at least 1500 movies ranging all decades from silent movies to today and the 80's has to be the worst decade for movies.
-
If you enjoyed the first one then you will enjoy the second.
It was well done and it's the first time in a long time where I've been to the movies where the crowd was into it with ''Ooohhs and Aaaws"
I've always been a Val Kilmer fan {semi homo} so how hey managed to get him the film was fanastic 8)
It's definitely better if you've seen the first but I have a couple of young cousins who haven't and they said they still liked it.

Perfectly stated.

The following may have been discussed before and I may have missed it, but .....
Was that scene in the original TOP GUN (watched it last night on Prime) in which Cruise flew upside-down a few meters over the foreign pilot and said, "Watch the birdey!" giving him the finger .... was that humanly/mechanically possible?
And in another scene the back seat 'navigator' turns around to watch a fighter jet pass to his rear in the distance.
I've never got off the round in a fighter jet but I have sat in one or two buckeled/tied down well enough which limited my turning ability so that I could not turn around to watch any passing object .... bird, saucer, or jet in flight.
Any real fighter pilots here who can respond to the above.

As a Top Gun myself, call sign “Fortress”, I can state the first is possible. Did it in an interception campaign over the North Atlantic.

Breaking Bad lives up to the hype, however, it may not in the beginning, because one of the great aspects of the series is where the character ends up in later seasons compared to where he started.
So I believe it's the totality of the series that is it's greatness and the journey taken, not exactly every individual episode.
Given that, the individual episode called "Ozymandias", which I think is the third to last episode, may be the greatest hour of TV ever. Interesting side not, it was directed by Rian Johnson, the guy who fucked up Episode 8 in Star Wars.
I have BB in my top 5 all time TV series. First for me was The Shield (7 seasons, ONE bad episode, great finale), and #2 was the Battlestar Galactica reboot........after that, it's a bit fluid.

Excuse me sir this is a Top Gun Maverick thread.

he was trying to inject some interest into what is a cringeworthy gungho America beats the world fist pumping pile of shite movie which I will NEVER watch

I have never seen a Star Wars movie in full
I think the closest I've come to killing myself was watching that stupid Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, or whatever the hell it was. I hate the franchise, and yet ended up relenting and agreeing to go to the cinema to watch it. As soon as I sat down, I realised I was surrounded by all sorts of society's rejects. Then the one bangable Asian girl in the movie got blown up in the first five minutes, and I was left to watch a bunch of fat, ugly, malocclusioned mutants fuck about for what felt like an eternity. It's probably the shittest film I've ever watched.
