Title: What a week! (For everyone not named Trump)
Post by: LurkerNoMore on November 11, 2022, 06:36:24 PM
The red wave turned out to be a pink drip.

Trumpy sitting in Mar-A-Lardo with egg on his face when most of his picks didn't pan out.  Some he is trying his best to distance himself from.

DeSantis emerged highly polished, stronger than ever, with numbers that Trumpy can only dream of.  Proving that he is more than a threat to Trumpy 2024 and is positioned to win the she-bang.  (yay!)  Of course Trumpy knows this and has been up to his usual bullshit infantile tactics towards DeSantis lately.  No surprise.  Getting busted in yet another lie (can't keep track of them all)..  kind of backfired about him trying to take credit for helping DeSantis with federal agencies when it was stated 'Bogus,' 'ridiculous,' and 'made-up crap': DOJ veterans throw cold water on Trump's claim that he 'sent in the FBI' to help Ron DeSantis.  But hey... he can still release bad info that no one else knows about regarding Ron and his wife.   ::)

Trumpy gets stuck with a watchdog monitor over his Trump (Con) business and throws a hissy fit about it.  (Along with all the hissy fits he throws about everything else.

Trumpy also decides to quickly settle the assault case against him because he knows going to court is going to result in a foot up his ass.

In a dazzling display of intelligence, Trumpy says his defamation and libel against E. Jean Carroll was purposely done because it the best interests of the country now has a potential second lawsuit against him due to his Truth postings.  Trumpy urged the District of Columbia’s highest local court to adopt his argument that he was acting in the interests of the American people when he made allegedly defamatory remarks while denying a rape claim by New York author E. Jean Carroll.

The court just punched the Trumpy attorneys in their mouths and fined/penalized them for the bullshit Hillary lawsuit.

And top it all off... poor Tiffany is getting married this weekend and will have to suffer through Trumpy making himself and his lies the center of attention when he gives his little toast/speech.

Now chime in with the usual excuses, deflection, spin, lies, TDfS and off topic comment posts where you have to say something no matter how irrelevant.

Think I misunderstood your post.  Thought you were predicting 219-20 house seats.  But I think you were saying that 219-20 of endorsed Trump candidates won their races in general.  No?

The most winnable midterms in history and El Trumpy sandbags the ticket with the Big Lie supporters.

They will be cleaning spaghetti off the walls of Mar-A-Lardo for the next three weeks.

Yes on the latter. There are still 10 seats separating the two with GOP in the lead…so far 211-209.

This was my FB post yesterday morning on FB…

“Who wants to bet on who’s going to take the house and Senate?

“we fully intend to win. Take it to the bank.” Nancy Pelosi Oct 23, 2022.

Bold statement back then considering there was supposed be a “red wave”

I believe the GOP will end up with about 220 seats therefore taking control of the House.  They will accomplish nothing but frivolous spending and hand the House right back in 2024.  I don't say this to be cocky or attempt to trigger you or anyone else.  That just happens to be my prediction.

I’ll just respond to the first part. I don’t think they will. As of right now they’re still “counting” ballots, Arizona is slow walking the process with all kinds excuses to not get it done. If you want a fair election (or more fair) go back to the old way.

Las Vegas too.  How the fuck does EU countries like France have results by the end of the night, but we have states that can't get shit done for days or weeks?  Fuck, we used to and still do in some places count by hand and we'd have the results that night or the next day at the latest.   Now we have ballot counting processors and/or fully computerized voting machines that may or may not be hooked to the internet :-\ and it takes longer, and produces less faith in the election process,  I thought technology was supposed to make things faster and more accurate? ???

Fuck, my grandma's could crochet a blanket faster than some of these states can count ballots.....and their blankets would be more accurately done.   Miss u grandma's! :'(

He provided nothing resembling party leadership. No response to the Dems desperate hail mary 'democracy is on the ballot' fearmongering. No specific plans of action to halt implementation of blue agendas or avenues by which to recover from harm done.

Instead he spent the lead up to the election hacking on Desantis.

With the level of voter dissatisfaction over major issues, there's no excuse for this midterm outcome. The Republicans screwed the pooch.

He can't carry the party but he wont leave the party. Desantis as Trump's VP isn't an option because everyone knows you can't work for him and it's political suicide to try. Trump is nothing but kryptonite at this point, on top of which he's a geriatric. He'll only lead Republicans to defeat. This is a hard truth his fans are going to have to face.

Desantis would rip off Biden's head and shit down the neck of the Democratic party. So if you're right wing do you want that or do you want to be a Trump loyalist?

He saved us from Hillary but it's time he hung up his cleats.

X2. Damaged goods. Great for upsetting the establishment but own worst enemy in other regards. DeSantis would make a far more polished, professional POTUS. Republican blame game is taking eyes off the progressive goofballs in the Democratic Party for a minute or two. It remains to be seen whether a party tearing each other apart really matters that much. I don’t really think the “tearing apart” is the main factor. Trump himself is the main factor if he comes out on top. Democrats (and Independents, by the way) will continue to turn out in droves if he continues to possibly re-emerge. On the other hand, Independents (and Democrats, by the way) could shoot over to the conservative side in a New York minute if a calmer mood would prevail. Barring abortion and climate change, the issues are more on the conservative side these days.

I have to agree, Trumps ego is still out of control and he’s not getting any younger. It will be exhausting having him in the news again 24/7 “Trump said this he said that.” he was his own worst enemy when it came to providing these freaks with ammo.

I think the lack of any colored "wave" shows what i've always thought - 80-90% of this country is more centrist, and that neither has a political party that truly represents all their values.

Both flawed in many respects.

I still hold onto that the Democrats have lost their fucking minds since 2016, but there's some shitty Rs out there too.

In a dazzling display of intelligence, Trumpy says his defamation and libel against E. I can't believe the topic of abortions has the grip that it does on the mind of the American public.

Think of how very few people it affects.

Think about yourself and the people in your life.... how many have had an abortion? How many are likely to have an abortion? Its something that just does not affect my day to day life to a degree that it influences how I vote.

Crime, economy, borders, then to a lesser extent  national security, foreign affairs.

Things like transgenders in sports and abortions, while frustrating, controversial topics, just dont affect my life at all. And even if those issues played a bigger role in my life- I don't think its worth 4 more years of useless social programs, skyrocketing crime rates and a plummeting economy.

Women, especially young ones, have been brainwashed into thinking this is the most important issue when in reality it almost certainly won’t have an effect on them one way or the other.

This - and if they thought about it practically, they'd see the light.

Young women have a far greater chance now of being the victim of a crime in NYC now, and the effects of that are far worse than the premise that may have to drive further than they'd like to get an abortion.

Shapiro claimed only single women were militarized by abortion but that they're a meaningful block due to erosion of the institution of marriage.

Marriage is one of those right wing talking points that misses the target for me, as is abortion. They're promoting government involvement in your life when the correct position is not having the government involved in your romantic or reproductive life. It's not the government's place to legalize or illegalize any of it. They simply don't belong there.

If conservatives are going to keep making the small government/ no tyranny argument, they have to acknowledge that means not using government to muscle people into alignment with conservative values.

Rogan, who claimed to vote Libertarian in at least the last two elections, never had this lightbulb come on over his head while debating Walsh about gay marriage.

Both of them took it as given that the government is making the decisions so the argument is about what decisions the government should make.

By what right does the government have a goddamn thing to say? Justify their involvement before debating anything else.

But the shitshow of Maricopa County defies explanation. It was like 68% counted on the evening of election day but somehow it's still not done. And it's Kari Lake.

Mexico has a better system than the USA. They require real ID with thumbprint verification.

Everything should be electronic and instant.

ID required.

We can track a credit card purchase anywhere on the planet, but they think it will be challenging to electronically track votes.

And Trump is damaged goods, needs to disappear into the night and let someone else take over. As i've said many times on here, he swung the pendulum so far to the right, that many people are seeing the counter to that. Every action has a reaction.

I've only seen him in video clips where he's looked very smart and somewhat funny.

But the more I was hearing on this podcast, the less impressed I was.  I stopped at the marriage convo, will continue the rest tomorrow.

The government has it's hands in so many pot's now it's scary.

Gender
Abortion
Vaccinations
Insurance
Education

None of it has to do with the safety or security, financial or otherwise, of the voting public. In fact it's all meant to fleece the public. They are inducing mass psychosis via their corporate wars. The purpose is nothing other than to line their own pockets and hold on to their offices- by any means necessary as we have seen over the last few years.

Normally I don't quote George Carlin but I will now: "It's a big fucking club and you're not in it"

I just listened to this tonight and thought Walsh's argument on this topic was weak.

I've only seen him in video clips where he's looked very smart and somewhat funny.

But the more I was hearing on this podcast, the less impressed I was.  I stopped at the marriage convo, will continue the rest tomorrow.

It just goes around and around.

I didn't mind that the conservative Christian has his definition of things. Joe came at it like a Democrat. It just never occurred to him to ask the Libertarian question. What happens with this problem if the government just stops being involved?

He's claimed to have voted for Johnson and Jorgensen. They're not my brand, but still. From a guy who votes LP and gripes about the government being too much in our lives, seems like it would have been his first question.

Yeah, that would have been a good way to steer the convo for sure, since it became redundant and boring.

I didn't mind Walsh's definition of it, but they could have saved 20 min of convo is they just said "ok that's traditional marriage" and these are variants.

The government has it's hands in so many pot's now it's scary.

Gender
Abortion
Vaccinations
Insurance
Education

Yep. I wouldn't go so far as to reject their involvement in everything but we never hear any reasons for it anymore, and nobody remembers to ask wtf they're doing in your family or your body.

It's just universally assumed they belong there and the only conversation to have is about which rules they make us live by are best.

A lot of people just can't compute it if you ask by what right the government is involved in intensely private matters. Why do they have any say in something? I've literally heard "Because... that's the system."

No real conversational shockers. But I did enjoy Hancock's episode. He seemed to make good points, even if he griped a lot about everyone saying he's some sort of nut. And how did the Egyptians get those massive stones up in the air like that? "Telekinesis m8." Ohhhh key dough key then.
