His priority in the video was the strong man competition.

Doesn’t seem like he is planning on longevity.

Leg infection.
I wonder if he got that after deadlifting and injuring his shins.

Seems like he's struggled to let go of Strongman and move on to the next stage of his life. He's 41 and hasn't been close to winning for years. He wants that last win to tie him for most all time but it's not going to happen. Drop a 100lbs and stop destroying yourself wtf

Well, now we know which leg Brian injects his steroids into.

Next time, clean the area thoroughly with alcohol before injecting.  And don't reuse those needles or use black market drugs.

Do you think it's odd that his wife, whose first husband died from abusing his body, seems fine with her second husband abusing his body?

One slight correction: he came 2nd in 2021.

I wish he had won that year, and retired.

Knowing Brian, he would have then tried to break Mariusz Pudzianowski's record of five wins.

Yes on the first two. Will the last one be possible?

Do you think it's odd that his wife, whose first husband died from abusing his body, seems fine with her second husband abusing his body?

I definitely thought about that.

I once brought that up on here, and someone said - she either likes that body type, or just met Brian because she is was in the Strongman circle.

Brian has a family now - it's time for him to do what he says and retire. Then move on to something else.

Grody looking leg. Seems like a long time to be in the hospital for a skin infection, I wonder if he has more than that going on or a circulation issue.

Absolutely correct.

He is 6'8.5" and 410- to 420-lb. On top of all the chemicals.

That does not bode well for longevity.

X2. Brian is a standup giant! Hope he makes a full recovery. He needs to watch his health for the sake of his family. Time for him to slim down. I need to follow my own advice. My weight recently jumped to 310lbs - @ 6'-2". I am now down to 305lbs and will start going to the gym more often and scaling down on food portions.

That's massive. Obviously not at the same concern level as being over 400, but still very large.

215-230 lbs. I start to look really decent at around 235 lbs. I plan on jumping back on a TRT regime. I was surprised to see my right calf at 20" and left come in at 19.5" lol! Always wanted to get them to 20". And I am not even training them much at the moment.

I'm not eating a ton of food, but where I fuck up is I can't break the habit of eating a huge amount of food (breakfast sandwiches, potato chips, and cheese) before I go to bed. It helps me go to sleep. I'll start increasing my activity level and being more consistent at the gym if possible. And then look at ways to reduce the calories in my bedtime meal.

That's a good weight to be at your height. Big - but without pushing it, health-wise.

Still big and strong, without some of the drawbacks and risks of being substantially bigger.

I feel like we can get away with a lot with age, but with each passing decade, it gets harder.

These infections are no joke.

Nowadays, anti-biotics are not as effective against these new bacterial strains.

His leg could easily have gone septic.  He could have died.

I'm glad he recovered.

Time for him to retire, lose 150lbs and live as long as possible with health.

Are the bacterial strains new, or are antibiotics losing their punch because people misuse them?

I guess those two may be related.

Also - was Shaw's infection due to injecting gear?

Bacteria constantly evolves to survive.
Over-use of anti-biotics is like over-using pesticides.
Insects evolve to survive.  A pesticide kills 98% of the insects.
The 2% that survive pass on their resistance to the pesticide.
The pharm companies are in a never-ending battle against new bacterial strains.

I guess those two may be related.

Also - was Shaw's infection due to injecting gear?

No idea.

Wait, it hadn't even gotten into his bloodstream, and he had no iv's in, so no IV antibiotics.

Can't be that bad.

This looks like publicity.

When I was in the hospital for my asscheek (of which I 'lost' about 1/2) for 30days I was getting 24-7 iv antibiotics.

When I 'almost lost my arm's I was out of the hospital in 2days.

Brian hired a new nutrition coach, the coach told him to have a pizza as he looked flat and needed to get some calories in.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

This is a guy who has been at least 385-lb since 2008, and has probably been over 300 [or at least 280] for 20+ years. At this point, he shouldn't be surprised if he starts getting health problems. If anything, I'm surprised he has even made it this long without serious issues.

He kept this leg issue quiet until he recovered from it...I wonder if this is what caused him to announce his retirement from the World's Strongest Man promotion. In any case, I'm glad he did.

As Fortress said, Shaw is pushing his luck.

And as you said - he eats too much.

That was a fast change of heart - only 13.5 minutes since your previous post.

That being said, I suppose your wife is right. May as well not wish any negativity on Brian.

Personally, I just find it sad that he has two young sons who he may not see grow up, unless he plans to quit the chemicals literally the DAY after World's Strongest Man is over, and drops a MINIMUM of 130-lb of body weight, and keeps the weight off.

Even then - the damage [such as steroid-induced hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, among other things] may already be done.

I understand that completely.

It does upset me that he isn't really showing any regard for his sons having a dad around/alive for very long.

In one video [maybe around 2015-2017, when one of his sons was still a toddler], he said that he wanted to have achievements that his son could look up to. This was probably when he only had one son, when he was only maybe two years old.

I was thinking to myself...does Shaw even grasp that he probably won't make 50 if he continues like this? What would the over/under for Shaw's lifespan be at this point? Maybe 55?

That upset me a little. Just being a dad myself [I have four kids to feed - ages 14, 13, 8, and 5, and hopefully, I'll have another one within a few years].

So I know exactly what you mean about being triggered, and getting angry with Shaw.

Do you remember 2x WSM winner called Geof Capes from the UK
Geof is now 73 & probably for the last 30yrs has weighed upwards of
350lbs & hardly been in a gym to do any kind of training himself.

Wow! Good on him for living so long whilst carrying that much mass for ages. Geoff always struck me as a good bloke - and he said he will compete at World's Strongest Man again if the money's right.  :)

Give Geoff a fortnight, and he could come down a few stones, I'm sure.

Bob Hoskins only made 71. Bob was a mate of yours, wasn't he?

Do you remember 2x WSM winner called Geof Capes from the UK
Geof is now 73 & probably for the last 30yrs has weighed upwards of
350lbs & hardly been in a gym to do any kind of training himself.

Worry not for others more so if not family or Friends.  :)

Maybe it was a combination of good longevity genetics (despite the weight) and the fact he has a budgie fancier - that's got to be good for the nerves, no?  I always enjoyed the image of such a big man tenderly looking after his brood  :)

Wow! Good on him for living so long whilst carrying that much mass for ages. Geoff always struck me as a good bloke - and he said he will compete at World's Strongest Man again if the money's right.  :)

Give Geoff a fortnight, and he could come down a few stones, I'm sure.

Thank you for this analysis. I can only add to the sentiment by pointing out he brought a woman who is supposedly his wife (but who he has never put in the public view before) looking sad and concerned in order to play that heart string and get sympathy busine$$ by manipulation of the masses

His wife has appeared in many of his videos as have his kids.

I know I've seen her in videos before...when dunkin donuts said Brian hasn't put her in the public view before, I wondered if perhaps I saw Keri Shaw only in Strongman documentaries or other videos, not posted by Shaw.

But no. You are absolutely correct - Brian has featured his wife in social media before, so dunkin donuts was mistaken on this point.

Also - thank you for this information, IroNat!

Do you think Shaw pigs out on Dunkin' Donuts?
Fat people lack foresight and self discipline, I don't think he got fat just for WSM, he is probably a fat person at heart, that explains a lot. Probably pigs out on all kinds of fast food, all the time, unchecked blood sugar in the 300's for sure

Shaw was 450-lb for the 2016 Arnold Pro Strongman. He is still 410-420 right now, unless he lost any weight due to his hospital stay.

I'm not sure what his heaviest body weight ever was, but probably around what he was in 2016.

For comparison, Greg Kovacs was between 412-lb to 416-lb at his heaviest - he was 6'2", and would have carried a lower body fat percentage at that weight than Brian Shaw did. Greg died two weeks before his 45th birthday, and was 365-lb two years before he died, and was probably not much lighter right until the end.

So I think it's fair to say that Shaw may be able to live to the age of 55 if he is lucky - unless he actually does drop at least 130-lb and keep it off for good, and get off all chemicals except for maybe TRT.

Are people forgetting that Shaw placed 2nd in 2021?  ;D

At age 39 no less, and was only 3.5 points away from winning the whole show!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_World%27s_Strongest_Man

2021's contest was not THAT long ago...only 22 months ago.

I do think Brian can win his 5th title this year...it is by no means a sure thing, but I would put it in the realm of possibility. :)

PS - why is that song age-restricted?

This is true but still a bit misleading.  Some antibiotics are no longer used due to lack of efficacy but virtually all infections can be treated still.  Pharma companies don’t really develop new antibiotics since it’s not as profitable as other Ventures.  That’s capitalism!

He indeed breaks the 6.4578 inches but I wouldn’t say he’s “massive” “girthy” yes

It would be a sight just to stand next to him in the urinals

That was a fast change of heart - only 13.5 minutes since your previous post.

That being said, I suppose your wife is right. May as well not wish any negativity on Brian.

Personally, I just find it sad that he has two young sons who he may not see grow up, unless he plans to quit the chemicals literally the DAY after World's Strongest Man is over, and drops a MINIMUM of 130-lb of body weight, and keeps the weight off.

Even then - the damage [such as steroid-induced hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, among other things] may already be done.
His wife thought of the BBC (Big Brian's Cock) and told him to change his mind, which he did.

My father-in-law has a childhood friend that's 79, approaching 80 and he was overweight most of his life, and well over 300lbs for decades. He can barely get out of a chair. When it is time for dessert he takes multiple servings. He has diabetes but couldn't care less about that. I told my father-in-law his friend knows his one foot is in the grave and probably decided he might as well enjoy whatever he wants. But the dude is still alive after all that. I told my father-in-law his friend knows his one foot is in the grave and probably decided he might as well enjoy whatever he wants. But the dude is still alive after all that. He has to wear compression socks to keep the fluid down in his legs.

That reminds me of how my friend described his 82-year-old step-dad on Saturday.

He said went to the hospital with breathing problems, and they didn't treat him because he has had COPD forever, and has not quit smoking 1-2+ packs of cigarettes a day. They told him to quit smoking if he wanted to get better. I had never heard of a patient being turned down for that reason, but Canadian hospitals are extremely overwhelmed.

Apparently he went back another time later, this time in an ambulance, and was treated.

He still hasn't quit smoking, and is apparently is still 6'1" or 6'2", and pretty strong looking for an octogenarian.

I just don't get how some people can abuse themselves for so many decades and keep on living - he has probably smoked heavily for 70 years by now, and was apparently a heavy alcoholic for a long time too.

It's fascinating to see people with genetics so resilient. I really don't get it. But some people just get away with lifestyles that would kill other people who aren't even half their age.

When I 'almost lost my arm's I was out of the hospital in 2days.
