First and foremost I always feel a lot of conflict between my desire to study the Bible and the fact that its so intensely, unbearably boring.
Secondly I still am not convinced any of it is true. The so-called strongest arguments are the risen Christ, for which I see no evidence at all, and even if there were any solid evidence, I don't see how that somehow proves anything.
Thirdly, all the "scientific" Christian apologists make very abstract points which if true, don't at all support anything about the Bible at all, but rather Spinoza's God.

Our Creator is a bad ass, He travels the galaxy creating life on planets with favorable traits like our Earth and it's liquid water. The Bible has its time and place but generally it's best if read by an ordained pastor as they seem able to bring the stories to life and make them relevant. Just sitting alone reading the Bible isnt very productive I have found. However, it is said to be the living word of God and I do believe that is true. It seems to change every time I read it. And I have a very good memory.
Anyway you might find some interesting stuff if you do a little digging on the Sumerians and Annunaki. Also spend some time exploring the dozens to hundreds of ancient (tens of thousands of years old) structures around the world which are being uncovered every day. Humans did not build these structures. In fact I am certain we can not destroy them either.
We are called to fellowship and to connect with our Savior Jesus, and also to honor the Sabbath. Our Creator rewards obedience and living in such a way that is pleasing to His ways and teachings. We must walk the path of our own free will, but refusal is to live in open rebellion and rebellion is sin. To sin is rebellion against God. There are many fallen angels at work in our daily lives who know very well how God punishes rebellion/sin.
But anyway by all means share your experiences thoughts and whatever is heavy on your heart brother.
Praise God

Before I went to sleep, I prayed the prayer given to us by the gospel, namely the Lords prayer, I then concluded with a request to forgive my lack of faith and implored Jehova to give me signs so that I may believe.

faith is a gift from God... one must b drawn to Christ by God.
of those drawn - very few make it:
'But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.'
get in where u fit in.

Can we then conclude that most people are faking it?

Probably, but that's not the point. The war is waged in your heart.
Case in point, I recently decided to take faith more serious and my first step was to honor the Sabbath. Seriously. So it just so happens a person online asked me to come work at their house but the only day available was Sunday. I declined the job and stated any other day was fine. Out of the fucking shadows I kid you not each and every single week after people I know, people I don't, started wanting to hire me to work Sundays. And coincidentally (haha) I have been struggling financially and really need the money. And this is how they (Lucifer and fallen angels) operate. They don't waste time on those of us who aren't making any effort to live in the light, but as soon as you do, like clockwork they arrive.
God is very real. And so are the fallen, and so is Lucifer. I can witness to you personal stories I er the years but they all end the same and sound the same because in this world there is enough light for those who want to see and darkness for those who do not. The point I am making is that, your own personal beliefs do not change reality. God is real, regardless if you worship Him or not.
Anyway so I don't work Sundays and I go to church every Sunday. I do these things to affirm my faith because I truly see God. And I am a life long skeptic and non believer. I set out to prove He did not exist most of my life and I was proven wrong. Which is great! God is great.
Praise God

I recently started doing all my grocery shopping and other hassles on Thursday so that as of Friday evening I have none of that shit bothering me for the weekend. It's for the concept of Sabbath I implemented it and it just also makes sense for many reasons.

The New Testament is a much better read but the Old Testament has some good stories contained in a large amount of boring stuff. Skipping around helps.

Everything will work out. Just do your best. Attitude determines altitude.
If you have a chance, have you considered reading the King James Version of The Bible? That has helped many folks. Good luck.

haha what a donkey you are. no money and struggling for work but decides to turn down jobs offered because demons are testing you. sounds like god thinks you're a bit of a retard to be honest. i would never date a man who needs to believe in some special sky protector for him. very off putting!

I never once read the Bible and I went to Catholic School at least until they threw me out.
Anyway most religions are all about taking your money..........I remember as a kid we had a dime or a quarter in an envelope to give at Mass while the pedofile priests drove Caddys and we had a beat up old Chevy and paid $60.00 a month to live in the hood with a drunken woman beater who terrorized us.......they should have been paying us.
Faith is key when it comes to God all we have is blind faith and which gives us hope..........after all none of us have ever seen God except Hendrix,Greg Allman,Benny Hinn,Jimmy Swaggart,Billy Graham,Jim and Tammy Baker,Carlos Santana,Stevie Wonder, and Elvis!!
It was this very board that stopped me from believing in God, but after having 7-8 encounters with "The Grim Reaper" I came to realize that God was watching over me all my life as it wasn`t a picnic for the kid, and yes I know tons of people who had it harder than me but fuck them,in essence I`m all I got......I wasn`t lucky enough to dodge as many bullets as I have in my lifetime so I attribute it to God watching over me and having bigger things in store for me................I used to say like "yeah like more suffering" but not anymore.
Throw away the fucking Bible it is only guidelines and examples for us to live by and some are pretty heinous at that.
My philosophy on life is to always try to do the next right thing, help people out when possible, treat people as you would want to be treated, try to keep an inner peace as nothing is actually truly controllable and tomorrow is promised to no one..........walk a righteous path like the dude on "Kung Fu" ! ;) ;D
Seriously, just endeavor to be a good person and talk to God, do not use formal prayers just talk to him one on one.........I ask him for strength, inner peace, and to help people I care about, especially who are sick and/or suffering.............AN D never take any shit from anyone win, lose,or fucking draw..........fuck that "turn the other cheek" bullshit !!!
Be more spiritual than religious.
PS....."unwieldy"....you`re a total bald headed fag! :)

For most of my life I had exactly the same anger and resentment as you Wes. I was hurt as a child and felt God abandoned me, left me defenseless when I was innocent and I grew up feeling totally alone. As an adult I always hated myself, abused myself with hard drugs and alcohol just escaping pain. I decided I had lived too long with all this crap and forgave and let it all go. I gave it all to God let Him deal with it. Things improved and I'm glad I did.

I harbor no anger or resentment these days Mike........I drank off and on for 33 years as well as being a drug user.
I am glad that God is in my life today.......in my cups and in the depths of depression, I couldn`t have cared less if I woke up in the morning.......these days I have very little, but look forward and am thankful for each day and my days aren`t easy due to medical issues but I`m improving.
I once went to a reborn Christian thing with my cousin who was a stone cold junkie.......the charlaton pastor told me I had to tithe and give him 10 percent of my weekly salary........I told him that depended on how many thefts I could pull off that week or how many frauds I could perpetrate,I then spit on his hand as he extended it to me and walked the fuck away.
I was the original don`t give a fuck OG.
Later my cousin who bought into the BS, started hooking and dropping dimes on people in the street which she paid for later but that`s another story......she would tell people "God bought here a new car" after fucking and blowing tons of guys for it then she would go around and tell people "God got her a new car".... once she got a legit job and on her first day there robbed the entire office while they were on lunch break.
I`m from a different world than you are bro.
I read from a small daily devotion book each morning which sets the tone for my day and I pray to God with my unworthy self several times a day.
U don`t know me Nostradamus,so don`t label me or try some Freudian shit on me just cuz you read the Bible,I`ve been seeing a therapist since I was 13.......by the way Kreskin, who wrote the Bible Steven King or Dean Koontz ???
I`m grateful that God is in my life......U do U and I`ll keep being myself as usual.

Praise God
Exult, ye righteous, in Jehovah: praise is comely for the upright. Give thanks unto Jehovah with the harp; sing psalms unto him with the ten-stringed lute. Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud sound. For the word of Jehovah is right, and all his work is in faithfulness. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the loving-kindness of Jehovah. By the word of Jehovah were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; he layeth up the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear Jehovah; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. Jehovah frustrateth the counsel of the nations; he maketh the thoughts of the peoples of none effect. The counsel of Jehovah standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation. Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance! Jehovah looketh from the heavens; he beholdeth all the sons of men: From the place of his habitation he looketh forth upon all the inhabitants of the earth; He who fashioneth the hearts of them all, who considereth all their works. The king is not saved by the multitude of his forces; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. The horse is a vain thing for safety; neither doth he deliver by his great power. Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his loving-kindness, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for Jehovah: he is our help and our shield. For in him shall our heart rejoice, because we have confided in his holy name. Let thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, according as we have hoped in thee.

I always liked Plotinus' approach. According to him, the intelligible world is composed of three hypostases or substances: the One, Intelligence, and the Soul:
The One: This is the supreme reality, the God of Plotinus. It is not knowledge, since knowledge requires both a knowing subject and an object known.....thus two terms, but it is also not Being itself, rather the source of Being. Plotinus also calls it the Good or the First. Nothing can truly be said about the One (except that it is One); at most, one can only describe what it is not. Yet it is what ensures the cohesion of all things. It is the source of everything. It desires nothing (for desire implies lack, and it is fullness), but because it is perfect/a sublime generosity. It tends to generate other beings that emanate from it.
Intelligence (the Spirit, Being): This is Plato’s intelligible being. It is unity multiplied in the sense that there are multiple Ideas, but together these Ideas form a unified whole. Intelligence is the principle of all justice, all virtue, all beauty. It makes reality coherent and harmonious. Intelligence contemplates the One and generates the third hypostasis.
The Soul: It is the mediation between Intelligence, from which it proceeds, and the sensible world, which emanates from it. The Soul is a kind of movement, but a logical, rational, organizing movement. It creates an ordered world and divides into individual souls (those of humans, animals, and plants). The human soul is therefore a fragment of this Soul generated by Intelligence contemplating the One. In other words, each soul is a fragment of God, meaning that God is present within each of us. The material world is the final point of divine diffusion.
There is a kind of back-and-forth movement between the summit and the base. Each hypostasis generates downward by emanation. Plotinus calls procession the process by which Intelligence proceeds from the One, the Soul proceeds from Intelligence, and the world proceeds from the Soul. The One disperses and gradually becomes obscured into the multiple. But at the same time, each element (except, of course, the One) turns back toward its principle, contemplating upward, a movement Plotinus calls conversion. Thus, the goal of each element is to regain Unity, to be enlightened. The goal of the human soul, which has fallen into the darkness of the body and of evil, is to ascend to the first principle, to the One. We must strive to know it, to merge with it. For this, one must renounce the life of the senses and reach the ecstasy in which the individual is united with God. The love of beauty and philosophy are means of attaining this ecstasy.
If interested, I strongly recommend reading "Enneads" (a collection of 54 treatises compiled by his disciple Porphyry) along with other OG Greek philosophers’ works.
-
Sounds similar to Indian philosophy. I resonate besides deeming the body and senses as something fallen which creates a duality, something to get away from.
