Title: Dorian Yates video
Post by: Rambone on May 17, 2006, 04:44:04 PM
Not sure if this has been posted before, but this is a pretty good video of yates. It flashes in and out from competition to blood and guts clips.

Dorian gets my vote over Ronnie, but lets not make this a Hulkster/ND thread to takeover.

well then what should we talk about?  how he'd wipe the floor with frank zane?  or the weather?

Dorian set a new standard in the 90's.  I looked up to his work ethic and modeled my training after his.  I met him several times, and even got to train with him at Club MET-Rx.  But, seeing that video just opened my eyes to how much further Ronnie has taken it.  Anyone who thinks that Dorian's best package could beat Ronnie pre-gut is just plain dilusional.  It's not even fucking close.  Ronnie is bigger, better shape, more detailed, freakier body parts, better separated, and just as well conditioned.  I don't give a shit that Dorian has better calves and a "grainy" look.  That's not enough to compensate for poor overall separation, no quad sweep, no biceps, weak delts and flat pecs.

How can there be pages upon pages of debates on this?  It's a freaking NO BRAINER!!!!  Ronie O_WNS Dorian!

Club MET Rx? Could that sound any gayer?
Totally agree though. Dorian changed bodybuilding, took it to the next level - and more importantly changed the way that everyone trained. No more training every body part twice a week! But Ronnie, hes a once in a lifetime genetic freak.

Dorian did beat a pre-gut Ronnie in 96/97 !! and how is a Pre gut Ronnie beiiger than Yates? Yates at his prime was 257lbs , Ronnie had a gut at the 2001 Arnold classic at 247lbs , Ronnie was 257lbs in 1999 Olympia and he wasn't as dry as he was in 1998 and hardness has never been an issue for Yates . no detail? Yates from behind had detail head to toe , detail from the front ? Yates entire midsection was shredded at 260lbs and Coleman's was anywhere near as sharp at the same weight , any comment you can make about Dorian's phsyique at his best I can counter with a host for Ronnie's , 1993 and 1995 Dorian was unstoppable !!

1. hardness was not dorian's problem. showing striations anywhere but his lower back was.

2. funny how dorian's midsection is all you can comment on for detail from the front. Shows you are admitting dorian's enormous detail flaws from the front. (delts, arms, legs)

3. Mindspins' post was exactly what everyone has been trying to get through your ironage head for a long time.  And it was stated perfectly.

calves and "grainyness" are not enough if you lack striations, shape and detail on most of your body in comparison to a guy like a pre-gut PEAK Ronnie.

1) You're a tool , and you're wrong , striated glutes , striated lower back , striated lower lats that ran the lenght of his whole lowerback , striated chest , striated midsection !! his abs were crisp , his intercostles & obqlues were striated to hell , something Ronnie had a problem with anything over 250lbs

2) I never admited Dorian's legs were a weakness or his delts , and you're high if you think his entire legs are weak or flawed , they're not !! his upperquad seperation was odd other than that his legs kicked ass , his calves were among the best ever , his hams were awesome so as a whole his legs were just fine , and again with the blaket statements his whole arms sucked now? lol at his best his biceps wern't even a problem , his triceps were great and forearms were fantastic

3) Mindspin is entiled to his opinion but I disagree with it , and you can sum up Dorian as calves & back and I can sum up Coleman as a collection of impressive parts but not as a whole , so back to square one  ;)

why does pre-gut Ronnie in your opinion nothing more than a collection of impressive bodyparts?

because in the opinion of most, he was put together quite well:

He actually looks great there even with the gut , but as a whole is body just never tied together as a whole , like Haney's who has flaws like the rest of em but as a whole looked much better .

you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger dorian fan on this borad than myself, but it would be damn close between the 2 of them.  i dont think ronnie would easily beat dorian, like most of you think.  dorian dominated against an in prime flex, kevin, shawn, nasser, and paul.  ronnie barely beat flex in his first 2 Olympias when Flex was no where near as good as he was when dorian beat him.

its been widely known, that dorian looks better in person than on film or in pictures, so its hard to judge.

anyways, that was a damn cool video.

wow, watching dorian pose his rear double bi and lat spread makes you realize how much better Ronnie's back was (say, in the 99 video from the other day).

His lower back is awesome though, and is much better than Ronnie's.

Dorian had great intensity in the gym.
