Good show tonight.
-
Yes, that is a VERY fair question....and I am more than willing to respond. -- For starters, the scheduling of guests is a calculated process. We try to offer up a rotation of guests that range from "flavor of the month" all the way to the more "iconic and historically significant". The week to week increase in listenership would indicate that the formula is working.
With regard to the PDI, we have chosen to ask nearly all of our guests to comment on what Wayne is doing (John Romano and Dorian Yates were very supportive, while others have expressed concerns). Let's be reminded that we provided Vince Taylor with a large platform to announce his decision to "jump" to the PDI. There is a LONG list of guests who we plan to welcome on the show.
We are closing in on our 40th broadcast...and we are VERY aware of exactly "what" and "who" you're all waiting to hear from. You'd also be surprised to know that our primary sponsors (MuscleTech, Bodybuilding.com, Flex Magazine) have all given us their blessing...without limits. We realize that there are some of you who have an insatiable appetite for PDI developments. We hear you loud and clear. --
Sorry if this response lacks the specifics that some of you desperatley need. Nevertheless, I'm glad to respond....and we appreciate the feedback.
-
Dan, good response. I appreciate your openness.
However, why does the issue of "wayne" get so much silence from everyone involved? No one dares go near him- why is this? He's dying to go on your show and be faced with the tough questions.
The man has $150,000 to give to bodybuilders this fall. He is putting on shows for fans to attend. He is selling tickets to the NOC. Clearly, he's doing a little more to impact the sport than Mike Francois, a man who, while good in his day, hasn't competed in TEN YEARS. Why is wayne off limits to you guys? He'll answer anything? Why won't you accept him as a guest?
-
Judging by the tone of a lot of people when asked questions about Wayne, they are cowards. Whether true or not, that is exactly how it comes across.
I've talked to wayne on the phone a lot- he is driven, he is focused, but he is a pretty nice guy. I can't see why everyone is so scared of him.
Bottom line: The guys is STARTING A NEW BODYBUILDING FEDERATION and the DJs tell us it's not newsworthy lol.
Laughable.
-
People fear change. Especially those who have financial stakes that may be affected by said change.
Think of it this way, I could come here and start selling $250 that were better than yours. You wouldn't like that atall :) You'd be standoffish about it too.

Yeah, it would suck, I agree. But I wouldn't say things like "rocket is going to be great for all of us- I can't wait to talk to him" then hide from you. Or, "together, rocket and I can help the athletes" then start threads bashing you 24/7 and delete your responses.
Their phoniness is what bugs me most. They could just say "Wayne is a competitor. F**k him." Instead, they act all nice, promise an interview, then deny him and bash him. They aren't clear with their motives. They deceive us. That's what bothers me. And I enjoy calling them out on it, so that they will be forced to take a position on it, and quit being phonies. Or at least, people will see they are phonies.
I hope the PDI does well. And I hope there is ANOTHER BBing federation the next year. I hope a few pop up so that each of them is held to the standards brought about by competition. There shouldn't be a 9-time Mr O with a gut and 80% of the guys in the sport being broke all day.
-
Isn't this why PDIradio.com is starting, to give you and the rest of the PDI crew their own platform which to speak on?

PDIradio.com will be TOTALLY NEUTRAL. Unlike PBBWeekly, we will accept questions on getbig and we will hit wayne with them with zero prep. Brutally tough questions from the "peanut gallery", as was so eloquently put by an unwise man. Any question asked will be answered, period. No politics, ever, on this radio station.
And of course, IFBB representatives who are bashing now will be invited onto the show to make their arguments. Will they show? Time will tell.
-
Oh, and the athletes too. Ask Rhino or Lee anything you want. It'll get answered, or the radio host will play the 'chicken cluck' track. Who knows, on-air meltdowns might ensue. Above all, it'll be real.

To quote you... "Laughable."
"No politics, ever, on this radio station." - Who are you kidding dude, there are politics in everything, don't pretend that that PDI and your radio will be any different.
I have a couple questions for you to get started...
Why did Lee and Vince decide to join Wayne's organization when they were the two most fined athletes in the IFBB, and these fines were handed down by Wayne? They complained about how they were fined, didn't get a fair shake and now they join the very individual who fined them.
Vince - Why did you lie to promoters and magazines to get your name out there when you had no intention in competing in the Colorado Pro at any point in time?
Vince - How can you complain about your placings and having the same judges late in your career; when you had no problem with those very judges awarding you top honors earlier on?
-
I can answer these easy.

Why did Lee and Vince decide to join Wayne's organization when they were the two most fined athletes in the IFBB, and these fines were handed down by Wayne? They complained about how they were fined, didn't get a fair shake and now they join the very individual who fined them. Good question. Wonder why anyone would do this, support the guy who fined them so much. How dumb is that? I don't know many people who would support the person who did this. How about this answer, so far they are the ones who realized Wayne was doing what he was told to do by his boss. Have you even thought about that. Are you that dense in the head. Wayne had a boss to answer too. Do you not know this. Have you ever done business with the Weiders. They are 100% control freaks. DO you honestly think Wayne did anything on his own without either first getting told to do it by the Weiders or asking them first. Honestly are you that dumb and brainwashed by these asshole. Unreal. And to think many more IFBB and NPC guys are coming over. Soon Heath and everyone else will easily place in the top ten in every IFBB event cause their won't be many more than 10 in eash show. Think about that. Wouldn't that be something. You need to realize that you are supporting a 3 legged horse. And sooner or later it's going to fall and not get back up.
Vince - Why did you lie to promoters and magazines to get your name out there when you had no intention in competing in the Colorado Pro at any point in time? From what we heard many guys (according to Sean and the Poster and you) were coming to the Colorado show, and backed out. Could it be that it wasn't worth it to travel to do a small show for hardly any money except for 1st. $1,000 didn't pay expenses for the weekend. You guys wewre banking on Vince to come to the show since he was your big name. Too bad uh, what comes around goes around.
Vince - How can you complain about your placings and having the same judges late in your career; when you had no problem with those very judges awarding you top honors earlier on? Can't remark on this since I don't know the circumstance and either do you so you really shouldn't remark on things you have no idea about. Unless you are Vince, he told you exactly what happened then you really don't know what you are talking about. He obviously didn;t like the judging enough to go. That his right. He is under NO obligation.
You'll have to come up with better questions that that, you'll never make it on the show.
-
I watch a LOT of msnbc and fox news.
LMAO! Fox News is your example of neutral/impartial journalism? ::) ???
-
First and foremost almost everyone has become a pussy when questioned about the PDI. Even Ron's interview which was so out of chracter I want to believe someone from the IFBB made the interview and paid Ron to post it.
Matt, don't like the interview. Too bad. I ask the questions I want. If I see Wayne at another show, I will ask him more tough questions. In fact, I will ask them to his face. I don't have a problem with that, and neither did Wayne answering the questions. People complain, but when I ask people to give me more questions, they all of a sudden don't email me the questions.
"But you have nothing! The PDI is nothing?"
And again, I say - show me what there is. Some press releases. An upcoming amatuer show, a pro show, some athletes that will compete. Again - if Wayne stops tomorrow, for whatever reason, there is nothing there. Don't like my reasoning - it is shared by many if you stop and think about it. NOW, when Wayne has is first show in Orlando, something is happening. When Wayne has the Night of Champions, then there is something.
You must think I am against the PDI??? Wrong - I am a bodybuilding fan and I want Getbig to be a place where all bodybuilding news is talked about. Hence, you see the PDI here on the boards. What I am against is malicious attacks on anyone, be it Wayne, the IFBB, the PDI, etc. That simple.
-
Sorry Keith I forgot you know all, who needs a PDI Radio show when we have onlyme to provide all the answers. ::)

Wow, what is different from the NOC and Wayne and the Colorado Pro and Sean. There was nothing there either yet you gave Shawn free reign of Getbig, placed multiple stickys everywhere and deleted many posts. Yet Sean has never done a show. He never even had the prize money in escrow, and competitors were dropping out like flyes. The NOC has a long and pretigous history, Wayne has promoted more shows than anyone on the planet, he is liked by many more IFBB pros than dislike him, and he is willing to promote BB on a more equal playing field and allow competitors to make some good money.

Ron, we all know you are being petted by AMI, IFBB and Manion. You are given special treatment at shows and so forth as long as you keep Getbig as much a IFBB platform as possible. It shows more and more on here and now the PBBW. It is rather funny and amusing and I love it as do allot of others. Come over to the PDI side Ron.

1- I liked the interview BECAUSE it was tough. After reading it, the only thing ppl could disagree with was Ron's interview style. They had little or nothing to say about Wayne's logic. If he had tried to BS people, you'd better believe 10,000 IFBB suckups would have said something. But it was quiet.
2- I cashed a check today from a PDI account- it felt great and certainly made it more realistic for me... they cleared! :) Seriously though, I an naturally critical of many business models. I've tried to punch holes in Wayne's plans. But it looks decent and possible. Nothing is guaranteed- but this is possible. And since the IFBB is political and pays crappy, ANY other joint in town is a good thing.
3- Getbig has been PDI-friendly. And it's smart too. The only kink is allowing the same people that ARGUE to have MODERATOR powers. Any moderator who chooses to engage in an argument should lose delete powers on that board, period. I don't think ANYONE disagrees with that.
-
The prize money WAS put up in advanced, and secured...thats a FACT.
The *IFBB* NOC had a long and prestigious history...the NYPro has a 2 year history...the PDI has NO history.
I wouldn't put any money on a percentage of pro's that like/dislike Wayne..you don't have any knowledge on thee subject...I do.
-
I watch CNN and MSNBC too, so I can have the liberal spin also. There is no libertarian news network, so i have to blend the others.
Why do you think CNN is liberal?
Here's a clue: who owns CNN?

Chick said: The *IFBB* NOC had a long and prestigious history...the NYPro has a 2 year history...the PDI has NO history. Bob, who cares? History = beaucracy. Bad habits and owed favors.
Fresh blood keeps things fun and allows the industry to GROW. The IFBB is stable, but it's not growing. See: Olympia/Mandalay. PDI is growing. it's new money and new blood in the sport.

they're better than MSNBC, but worse than FOX.
I think it was the shot of anderson cooper doing shots with college kids at a bar during the NY Blackout. Then he picked up the microphone and reported on the mood of things on the ground during this event. Awesome.
-
Vince - Why did you lie to promoters and magazines to get your name out there when you had no intention in competing in the Colorado Pro at any point in time?
You shouldn't presume to know Vince's intentions. There's every possibility that real life may have intervened.
Whatever the reason(s) for him not competing, he missed a heck of a show...and I'm confident he would've been very competitive in the lineup if he'd been there.

The opinions expressed on this board by the people who are "In the know" are so obviously biased by the IFBB. Thats whats laughable. If Vince was not doing the NOC, you would be all over his dick. If you want your opinions to be taken seriously, you should all consider both sides, not just dismiss things in the face of defense. It only makes you all look scaredof the PDI.
kind of funny to watch.
-
Let me first say I am for the PDI succeeding and believe that competition is good so please do not read my writing out of context
Possible logic for Bodybuilding weekly...
A) Talking about the PDI on ProBB weekly is free publicity, eveyone else is paying for air time, why give this federation free Pub
IMO if Bob and others think the PDI will not succeed and be a 2nd rate federation why not publicize it more so Bob can say "I told you so" but Bob may fear that it WILL succeed and he will have to eat his words.
-
I'm talking about the supplement companies...everything outside of the IFBB

Oh, knock it off, if he was all about the IFBB. I mean come on, he is Vince Taylor, argueably, one of the best bodybuilders of all time. You are just after him cause he is pro PDI. You need the IFBB, we don't, so you scorn us. Don't worry, when the PDI is the dominant organization, we will still be freinds and I will always like you Issac, but it is really obvious........
Tell me, what is it like to NEED the IFBB. That must suck.
-
Tell me, what is it like to NEED the IFBB. That must suck.
That is the only thing that amuses me about all the blind IFBB cronies. They are trying to please their bosses. They are helpless to be honest and speak on what they REALLY think. They have to follow company line and play politics. Not singling out lift, but really, everyone who is regurgutating company line and ignoring the wealth of opportunities across the board that a new BBing federation brings.
-

No presumptions - he point blank said it himself, several times. He told Ron and I he planned on competing at the Arnold but didn't get the invite, so decided to do the Austrailian Pro since it was the next show. He also said it on the radio show. This is much different then telling the promoters of the Colorado Pro that he was taking the Colorado Pro as his comeback show and it wasn't until after he received all the media exposure did he reveal his real intentions. He also told Shawn he "needed more time" to hang with the younger guys. His stories changed several times and why I asked 240 to ask him the question.

Everyone knew the score the the Colo Pro. Would King or DJ have gotten a fair shake at the Colo Pro? lol...

are you saying that "lift studios" is a skinny IFBB lackey and Weider coffee fetcher, 240?
If he isn't, I am. ;D

Jack have you been spending time in Hawaii this past week? You're starting to sound like Onlyme on here. I won't dispute Vince's accomplishments on stage, he is one of the best. Don't ASSume to know why I ask the questions I did. Not after him because he is PDI - asked the questions for the reasons I stated above to Tre's comment.
I don't NEED any organization Jack. I CHOOSE to be part of the IFBB. I've never claimed to be anything but IFBB nor will I. I'm not ashamed to say my loyalties are with the IFBB and the NPC. You're taking things personal for no reason, that's your own issue Jack. If the PDI is ever the dominant organization then I will eat the corn out of your crap jack. ;D

I'm not taking anything personally, maybe you are. I was making a point, a point that you just agreed with. You ask the questions in a negative manner, and by the way, in that other thread, you said everyone was laughing at the PDI. Who? you? Oh, and you do need the IFBB, there is money in it for you, when there is money to be made in the PDI, then your loyalties will lie there. Eat the corn out my crap? Listen, your outrageous comments will not deflect the obvious. The amazingly obvious, see Issac, I have the luxury of saying what I want, what is true, I don't need anyone, the IFBB, the PDI, or you-thats makes my comments especially dangerous, because there is no agenda. Can you say that? No.
I think you should be more unbiased in your comments or it will be you that everone is laughing at.

Don't assume to know my business Jack. 90% of my revenue comes from outside of the bodybuilding world, so yes I can say I don't NEED any organization. I've been approached by other organizations and promoters to help them and I declined. I will NEVER work with the PDI. My comment is outrageous to prove a point - the PDI will NEVER be the dominant organization.

I will remember you said that, bold words my freind, bold words.

How many people even listen to the radio show anyway? Of those, how many following bbing very closely and know about PDI.
I say not many and most.
-
Why would anyone (other than someone in the hierarchy of the IFBB) have a problem with a competing federation? All it means is the possibility of more money going to more athletes and more opportunities.
I think it is a fair argument to say that the IFBB has not done the bodybuilding world well in the last decade. Where has bodybuilding as a sport gone?
If you want a different result you have to change what you are doing and that may be what will happen with the PDI.
Time will tell...

PDI might be in the right time and place
to make some waves in the fitness industry
If someone tried to challenge Weider & Co. pre-internet days
over decade ago - they might of been snuffed out
now who relies on a glossy magazine three months after the fact
to see what's going on
Wayne D. has a bit PT Barnum in him
knows how to put on a show and market it
and he's the first one to admit he's a cheap ___
unlike the Weider boys
Prediction: Town Hall NYC - NOC will be SOLD OUT

Lift you are losing the battle with Jack. He is obviously allot more educated, knowledagble in this industry than you are. Your loyalty to the IFBB is commendable, but still stupid. They were once great, and now the new kid is in town and they will be set back. I don't think in fact know they won't go away, but they will take a back seat to the success and dominace of the PDI once the ball gets rolling. It's going to happen so you'll have to live with it like all the other IFBB suck-ups. ;D
-
The people that are glued to the IFBB just cant get the WBF out of their thick ass skulls. The WBF failed BUT it changed the sport and contracts for the athletes. These people who are so very loyal to the IFBB think its like the NFL, MLB, or whatever. Bodybuilding has gone down in popularity over the last 15 years steadily because the IFBB can't generate momentum for the sport (i.e the Olympia productions over the last few years, favoritism towards Mr. Olympias and other athletes, physiques getting bloated, blackballing). Wayne at least is trying to take advantage of that and sees that weakness in the IFBB.
-
It's funny because none of us who are not BBers can really be loyal to either organization. LIFT, will you refuse to work with any PDI athletes? Bob, will you refuse to sit at a BBing.com booth at the NOC? We're at best *support* personnel.
If IFBB business dries up and PDI money is good, LIFT will be promoting a PDI guy, Bob will be at Wayne's shows, Perine will be writing about PDI shows, and Horton will be trying to sell pics of Priest and Taylor and RJ.
You guys are loyal to a paycheck and to where the money is. Tell me you won't take a PDI check if the IFBB can't pay you? If you have kids to feed, you're going where the money is.
All this talk about loyalties is funny. You're going where the money is, when it's there. Period. You can cry "I am loyal to the IFBB" but you're only loyal as long as there is money to be earned.
So everyone, on both sides, it's probably time to step back and realize we'll all be where the work and the money is. Any talk about who is better/superior is just ass-kiss lipservice to try to get more work now. In ten years, a new federation NOT called the ifbb OR the PDI might be the only game in town. And we'll all be at that show talking about how we've always been loyal to that org. So give up the honor talk. Money talks.
-
IFBB- $1.4 M purse/ 2006
PDI- $120,000 purse/ "potentially" 2006

Not sure what battle I am losing with Jack, but whatever you need to tell yourself, knock yourself out. I'd hardly consider expressing where my loyalty is "sucking up". Not pretending to play sides - it's clear which side I am on. You said it right the PDI is the new kid in town - Much like the new kid in town, you'll be picked on, ridiculed and belittled until your prove yourself, which has yet to happen.
;D
-
I've competed in the NPC, I work with the local NPC, I write for NPC News - pretty clear where my loyalty is. I will refuse to work with any PDI athletes, that's my choice and as I business owner I am entitled to that. I'll be sure to send them your way Rob. I've declined to work with competitors and promoters of other organizations and not a big deal.
At the end of the day I can walk away from bodybuilding and still have a business. What's so hard to understand about that? If you want to talk about where the money is, it certainly isn't in bodybuilding for any organization. I do it because I enjoy it, not because I have to.
-
I've competed in the NPC, I work with the local NPC, I write for NPC News - pretty clear where my loyalty is. I will refuse to work with any PDI athletes, that's my choice and as I business owner I am entitled to that. I'll be sure to send them your way Rob. I've declined to work with competitors and promoters of other organizations and not a big deal.

Sweet. I do have a $25 referral program! One guy has made $200 by sending me friends.

IFBB- $1.4 M purse/ 2006
PDI- $120,000 purse/ "potentially" 2006
120,000 isn't really confirmed and you never know whether the checks will clear or not. ;D
-
120,000 isn't really confirmed and you never know whether the checks will clear or not. ;D
Actually, it's supposed to be 5 shows at $30k prize purse, so that'd be $150k.
And who cares, Vince. You've never placed at a NPC show and you're not invited to the PDI. I don't think you could place in a teen division dude.
-
Yes, that is a VERY fair question....and I am more than willing to respond.
Oh bullshit.Stop asking athletes and just get Wayne on and ask him. :)
-
To quote you...
They were handed down by BEN his name and signature on the bottom of my letters.Wayne just passed it on to me.

IFBB- $1.4 M purse/ 2006

Its a start Bob what was the IFBB's first purse when they started.Yes it was a different time but you have to start somewhere KNUCKLEHEAD.

Bob is a company man
I did respect Bob. But he is so damn two sided. Goes on the radio and praises the PDI because it can help the athletes and then once he hangs up with Dan he hops his hatin ass on here and blasts it. Hey Chick make up your mind already. Facts are facts brother and you are playin on both sides of the fence. Just say you think the PDI is garbage and stick with it. Get more respect if u went on bbradio and just said that.
-
hmmmmmm
-
In my opinion, the PDI will do one show. It will be a laughing stock and it will then be over. Flex, M&F, Ironman, these media outlets will slam the show if it's not BETTER than some current IFBB shows. Bob will slam it if it's no good, and everyone else will too. They only have 2 or 3 quality athletes competing, so unless every show comes down to Priest and Taylor, it's going to suck.
-

Bob it seems that your employer's (AMI) interest conflicts with

The athletes I represent are all under the IFBB. AMI runs a publication business...wheres the conflict?
I don't represent bodybuilding athletes worldwide, for any and all federations. Athletes can decide for themselves where their opportunities are...no one is standing in their way...least of all me.
-
Yea. Come on Bob just say you believe the PDI wont work and why. I know you're for the athletes. Would you discourage any from jumping? Will Priest get blackballed? Vince did years ago for other reasons. The WBF guys did. I really would love to hear your opinion on guys who would want to maybe compete for both feds if it shows signs of success. Competition is good for us all. The fans and the pros.
-
I don't believe the PDI will work...for the simple reason that I don't believe there enough of a fan market, a demand, or sponsorship dollars to support it...
No, I would not discourage anyone from joining...quite the contrary, as I have advised more than a few to consider it as an alternative to the IFBB...
No, Priest will not get blackballed...he will get suspended for violation of the IFBB rules...he's very aware of that.
I don't necessarily concur with the notion that 2 federations are a win-win situiation...and have very good reason to believe that IF it was mildly sucessful...it might just water down the talent pool for EACH federation, and we would just end up with 2 federations with mediocre to poor results...
Only time will tell, and the people will either show their support for the PDI, or their disinterest...same with th best BBers in the world....money talks. So far, the money and opportunities to maake money from pro bb has been in the IFBB.
-
the talent pool who pose to hypnotic drug culture music...that talent pool?
-
This will address the problem of why Wayne has not been invited on the radio broadcast.
Very simply there has been an enormous amount of pressure put on those involved in Bodybuliding to prevent Wayne and his associates from gathering sponsors for their events. I know this will be vehemently denied by the powers that be. Please be aware that these people are in fear of losing any support they have from The IFBB and the NPC and that is the reason why Wayne has not been asked to appear on the show. My question is what the hell do you owe any of these dictators? They are trying to prevent you from expanding your own business. Wake up!

Ok. I respect your opinion but you're saying that you think there is no fan base/support for another fed. I know you read these boards and you might frequent other boards as well. Im no insider but I know for a fact that this board (which maybe small by comparison to the overall number of fans in bb) has hundreds possibly thousands of people who are in the belief that if you're Mr. O, you can show up and win. We dont have to go over the names and years as everyone knows who i am speaking of.
Fans as well as pros cannot be fooled anymore. The guts, water, synthol, and etc is freaking irritating. The past few Olympia productions have plain out sucked (I ordered the last 3 on ppv) and who the hell wants to pay their money to watch ronnie show up with distentions and injuries and beat out a jay cutler for tenth millionth time, phil heath who is on fire, or whoever.
The IFBB thinks their the only game in town so they can feed fans anything. Which is true to an extent. I read flex and md. I am going to watch obviously. Now if we have an alternative where the judging isnt bias, your name doesnt win shows, and if your this companys' athlete you get favored I guarantee there will be support. Small maybe but it will be there. The IFBB just needs to gain momentum again. Bob you know the sport has lost out in popularity over the last 15 years. And theyre doing little to get it back. Its sad when Dexter Jackson sits out Olympias for the Arnold. Poor production, less payday, known results. And this is the ifbbs trophy contest.
But as a fan Ill watch because I love it. It will be a great battle for 2nd again this year.
-
Our show isn't controlled by anyone but Dan and myself. WE pick who WE want to interview, and who WE think would be good guests.
So do you not want Wayne as a guest, Bob?
If Wayne doesn't want to do the show anyway...what is the issue?
Wayne DOES want to do the show!
We had Titus/ Kelly on to tell the world of their "federation" plans
Why allow Titus' federation- when he has 1000 times LESS experience than Wayne and NO athletes? Did you take his more seriously?
-
I don't believe the PDI will work...for the simple reason that I don't believe there enough of a fan market, a demand, or sponsorship dollars to support it...
I tell ya I hope you are wrong. I would rather sink/die with a group trying to do something new, something to address the wrongs of the past, than one with well known history of beggaring their competitors (hell, treating them like indentured slaves if we are to be totally honest), deceiving/ripping off those that support it (the 'fans') through misinformation and more. The IFBB/Weider/AMI is like the Roman Empire that is rotting from within: Christianity has infiltrated and the Huns are at the gate. I hope it falls.
/rant over. go back to what you were doing everybody.
-
'I don't believe the PDI will work...for the simple reason that I don't believe there enough of a fan market, a demand, or sponsorship dollars to support it...'
oh ok and what overhead does the PDI carry currently? a magazine? debt? over inflated salaries? bonuses? please tell us..thanks in advance.
-
What's funny is the PDI with Wayne's money and his partner alone probably have as much if not more than the IFBB and without any debt.
I need to know doesn't AMI own the IFBB now, or is it just the Olympia they own and the magazines.
And other than the prize money and expo, the NOC will be a better and more extravagant and probably expensive show as the Olympia. With it being downsized so much to the Orleans. Remember Wayne knows how to put on a show, the IFBB, AMI or Manion do not know how to put on the Olympia. It has shown since they took over. So not much debate on that subject

If Wayne and company have "as much money if not more than the IFBB, without the debt..." Then why are they giving out a paltry $30K purse for their flagship show? Why are they not signing athletes to endorsement contracts like the WBF did? Where are the big name sponsors?
AMI does NOT own the IFBB...Joe and Ben Weider do.
The Olympia hasn't been downsized...the arena is bigger, and had bigger attendance than any in Olympia history...the Expo is also bigger, and expanded...and had the largest attendance.
Where do you get your facts from, bro?

Usually a flagship show to a promotions starts off with a sizable prize purse to attract more competitors. 30K is kind of low for a promotion competing directly against the IFBB
and the NOC is going to be the showpiece of the PDI. T
Basically its no different than comparing the top athletes of the IFBB and PDI.
PDI....Lee Priest
IFBB......Ronnie Coleman
In other words, the IFBB literally dwarfs the PDI
-
good, i'd rather be on the lee priest team
-
PDI....Lee Priest

This is as of May 24. The NOC is 4 months away. Some guys won't be announcing it until the end, as they are milking their current contracts and paydays. Vince, you know a little something about milking, don't you?

He's putting out 150k in prize monies over 5 shows in Sept and Oct alone.
He could put all that $ into the NOC purse, but why? Why not put on 5 shows in 5 different countries and grow it? Besides, the PDI is getting mad coverage in MD and the athletes who compete will have plenty of endorsement opportunities.
Tell me this, for the 20,000 unique visitors that getbig receives every day... who have they been talking and reading about MORE for the last 3 months- Jack "Rhino" London or HALF of the IFBB Pros?
Right now, Rhino has more recognizability than half the IFBB pro guys. And he hasn't stepped onstage yet. Love him or hate him, Rhino's face is in your psychii :)

I like Rhino, but having people talk about you on a message board doesn't mean that they will come to see you in a contest. After all, Vince Goodrun receives a lot of publicity here.
-
I like Rhino, but having people talk about you on a message board doesn't mean that they will come to see you in a contest.
No, but in a one-page ad in MD or any other magazine, the reader who recognizes a face will pause and scan the ad instead of turning the page. That extra second or two of "Hey, ain't that Rhino?" increases the chances of you noticing that product and in turn buying it.
Same reason why celebrities hock Pepsi or McD. You're going to pay more attention to a face you recognize- and right now, more ppl recognize Rhino than half of the men that stood onstage at the NY Pro.
Can you pick any of these guys out of a lineup? They are all IFBB Pros from the NY Pro list and a helluva lot less recognizeable by american message board readers.
2 Adzievski, Oliver Sweden
3 Arevalo, Pablo Peru
5 Bui, Eryk USA
7 Faour, Aiman Germany
11 Glanville, Hunni England
23 Prado, Edson Brazil
26 Torabi, Reza Amin Canada
27 Welling, Ricky England

Actually, many here are the muscletech warriors. They are just blatently mocked by vocal members when they do mention it. And with the continued integration of MD and GB interests, it's only going to increase. Ron has been in MD a few times, and GB is mentioned by name at least once every issue.

What I'm saying is that those who post here, for the most part, consider themselves too smart to buy a supplement based on who is in the ad, especially if the person in the ad does not have a top physique. Do people here buy supps advertised by Derek Anthony?

Not buy- but stick around on the page long enough to catch more of the ad than if the reader didn't recognize the endorser. DerekA brings a very negative, gay stigma that hurts sales. But most of Getbig that recognizes Rhino will know what about him... big bald guy... strong dude... PDI, right? Nothing negative though. Sure, he has some battles online and he'll get an occasional 'monster ___", but all in all, he has more ad value than most of those bottom feeder IFBB guys.
-
Pro Bodybuilding Weekly has been "told" not to interview Wayne. And so they won't.
They are hoping Wayne will go away.
The fact that he scares them tells you just how shaky they feel about themselves.
Hmmmmm.

Oh yeah, that was a crappy show, I agree completely. But wince wayne promoted several shows a year for 15 years with no major problems, and one gay ass show occured on the last days of his reign... I'd have to say that overall, he did a good job. B+!

It was also the FIRST ever PDI show at a time when he thought his reign as the head os his own organisation was about to start. It was run the way he wanted with the entertainment values he wanted.
Interesting that you consider BDSM and Paedophillia to be something worth watching. Pretty much everyone there found it distasteful, but each to their own.
-
Oh Kevin!
You're not going to get all TASTEFUL on us after all these years!
Actually, I'm rather hoping gerontophilia is going to to become fashionable.
Seems to be all the rage at the IFBB.
Best wishes from the old country,
Your Uncle Alex Mac

well, I have been picked up by another supp. company and it is because of my recognition here. I also want to say that not only am I more well know, and more respected by those who know me, this is the second year in a row that I have been told that I could beat half those IFBB guys in the New York Pro.
Just a thought......

I think the recognition is great for you, I just don't think the average supplement buyer makes a purchase because of who is in the ad. It could probably be about any buff guy, although maybe we fans would be more likely to buy something that you endorse. ;D
-
Novice supplement buyers will buy stuff based on pictures. The magazine ads are what make people think supplements are steroids. However, experienced customers will know that they can't get from A-Z with any supplements. I bought magazines when I first started working out 5 years ago, but I stopped after about a year. They are nothing but re-written material with 400 pages of ads.

FLEX is just about unreadable after a year. But MD has advanced gear and nutrition topics that many advanced BBers use.
And it's not about BUYING based upon ads- it's about pausing for just a moment to scan the ad with your eyes. Seeing Rhino's face on a page will probably keep your eyes there for 2 seconds the first time, right? Like, you'll pause for JUST a second or two to say "eh, that's that don-rickles-looking-MFer!". And you may never buy it.
BUT as a result, that company will now have an advantage over the rest of the companies whose ads you didn't spen 2 seconds on. They are now just a tad clsoer to being FIRST in your mindset in recognizability. You might see another ad next month elsewhere, and you might pause for another second, and Rhino and that product will scoot up a little more. YOu might not buy it- but you'll KNOW about it. And knowing is half the battle :) AIDA- Attetion, Interest, Desire, Action. They have your attention now, and half your interest, at least from the personal side, even if not from the interest in the product results side.
And keith, you've been around the sport for some time, right? Most NEW supplement buyers will pick up a FLEX or MD for inspiration, then buy what they trust. As they can see that Rhino is a real guy and despite numerour insults, he's still positive and legitimate, Rhino is trustworthy and brings value to a product's advertising.

To all the PDI puppets - have any of you talked to Wayne and asked him if HE wants to go on the show NOW? Seems Wayne is pretty strategic in his moves and when he releases info. What good would it do him to go on the show now?

Yes. The reason www.PDIradio.com is being started is that there is great demand for wayne to be on, and this demand is not being met.
Wayne would very much like to go on the radio show. They'll never let him on though, it's fairly clear.

are you saying that the IFBB is the Joseph Goebbels of bodybuilding, 240?
-
The athletes I represent are all under the IFBB. AMI runs a publication business...wheres the conflict?
I don't represent bodybuilding athletes worldwide, for any and all federations. Athletes can decide for themselves where their opportunities are...no one is standing in their way...least of all me.
so AMI has nothing to do with the last couple of olympias (ifbb event)?
chick, you can play all the word games you want but
the ifbb is run / influenced / controlled by ami
i doubt that dave pecker suddenly took up bodybuilding
at decided to show up at the olympia.
i guess dave pecker must be a true bodybuilding enthusiast

AMI has been lowering resources each year for the last few years. Hence the lower quality of hotel. This year will see less money than last year- No PPV, less multimedia, as it'll be outsourced. Wait and see. The true fans who are there every year will speak the truth, all while Weider and Chick declare "this is the greatest Olympia ever!" yet again.

When i got in trouble last year for pulling out.I spoke to Jim and he told me it was AMI'S SHOW IFBB had little to do with it.So he was only passing on to me what AMI(robin chang) had told him to say to me.

AHH yeah i have talked to him and yes he would love to go on.So now what?
-
Yeah...we have talked to him also.
He does want to go on...IN SEPTEMBER. Its WAYNE'S choice to wait 3 months...not ours.
Wayne said he would prefer to go on in SEPT.
SEPT. is when Wayne has expressed an interest in being interviewed...
Dan Talked to Wayne about when he wanted to be on th show, he said SEPTEMBER would be best.
Wayne prefers to wait until AFTER the show takes place in SEPTEMBER...
How many ways can we state it??????????
So much for all your conspiracies, "weider puppets", "they won't let him on..."..."they're told what to do...", "Wayne wants to be on NOW..."
Some of you are truly pathetic.
-
Nothin on tv tonight Bob.
Nice of you to join us :)
-
AHH yeah i have talked to him and yes he would love to go on.So now what?
So is Wayne willing to answer ALL the questions or is status quo? I would love to hear Wayne answer the few questions I presented here, but the the big question will he? I think that needs to be addressed before he is given any airtime to waste if all he is going to say is, Time will tell.
Racq
P.s. Your tat artist is not very female orientated on his website. You know anybody else? :-\
I'm trying to get Kat Von D to do a portrait during the convention up here. Care to provide any 4 x 6 glossies.
Of Adela please after all tattoo's are permanent ;D

Thats what you've got , Lee? How about addressing the issue...everyone here (including you) have been on our ass and making assumptions about the Wayne deal...all the while it'S Wayne HIMSELF that has asked to be on in sept....
Got a response to that?
-

Ah thank you. Hence why I asked the PDI puppets if he wanted to go on NOW.Clearly the strings are tangled between Wayne and his puppets.
-
I wonder if Manion will be over the flu by September?
GREAT QUESTION!!!
What ever happened to him?
-
We havent asked him back on, as weve had other guests scheduled.
I'm sure theres a conspiracy there somewhere....!

Life would be boring without it.
For what it is worth (which I am sure is not much) but I would like to hear from Manion.
-
Me too...
-
bob chick, when did wayne EXACTLY (date & time) express his willingness to be on your show in spetember?
-
Last week when Dan Talked to him....
-
I don't have any pals named "Tamali"...who are you talking about?
-
We havent asked him back on, as weve had other guests scheduled.
So a man as powerful and important as Jim Manion, in your own words, was "DYING" to get on your radio show.
Why haven't you asked him back? Are you telling me that Mike Francois, a muscletech scientist, and several segments of your own personal analysis are more important and influential than arguably the most powerful man in BBing?

Nah i have alot more but you bore me Bob.Whether he goes on now or September what difference does it make as long as he goes on.Maybe in SEPTEMBER after the show wich will be a success he wants to go on so you can sorry for all your negative talk about it.Must be to hard to say well hope it works i wish Wayne luck.Come on you can say it i know the IFBB/AMI Monitor these boards but it's ok go ahead it will make you feel good to be positive about it and athletes being able to make more money.Oh that's right they might loose money if they join because the IFBB will suspend them.HOW CHILDISH-IFBB GROW UP.

Everyone on here has owned the IFBB. It's not hard when they own themsleves all the time.

Also, why didn't Chic know that AMI ran the Olympia not only publications

Bob needs to work on the education.
Chick should ask Manion to print him a Masters degree.

As Wayne is not prepared to go on Dan's show before September, any word on when he'll be appearing on PDI radio?

I'm fully aware of what AMI does...
The question at large, was if it was some sort of conflict with my AR position...as you quoted.
-

You'd have to ask Wayne that. Project will be ready to launch shortly. I'd tell you to contact Wayne, but whenever I mention his name, IFBB company men always turn into

Amazing how the tune has changed since you now know that it was Wayne himself that doesn't want to be on the show yet....
What happened to the conspiracy, the puppet talk, the scared to put Wayne on deal, the AMI/ Flex mag control of the show....??
It's comical just how "out of the loop" most of you really are...
-

What format are you planning for the show?
Is it going to be live or recorded?
Can we call in and ask questions?

Chick, I'm actually more focused on growing a solution than on bitching about a problem. It's nice to see you like to gloat. I only with you were this vocal when you made mistakes here.

All that and more! I think the Keith/Horton debate hour could be pretty amusing.

Wayne doesn't want to be on the show?! WTF?!

This is coming from Bob- and if you believe everything Bob says, well...
Wayne has a new vehicle for speaking to the people- www.PDIradio.com

So are they going to sign anyone besides Lee and Vince? If they both stay in shape for 15 shows this year, the PDI could be interesting?! This could be like Jay vs. Ronnie!
-

Well it's easy to find out Wayne's view on the matter.
Roll over and ask him.

You're the one who cannot photog PDI guys cause it'd be "like cheating on the IFBB", as you said tonight.
I build sites for IFBB, PDI, NPC, supp co's, anti-supp companies, clothing lines, photogs, models, you name it.
I sleep well at night knowing that my skills sustain my earning ability - not my ability to not piss of fmy bosses.

Why are you making quotes up?
Where did I mention the IFBB?
Why is it so difficult for you to understand that I do not shoot for the IFBB?
If someone is paying to fly me over to the US and have me shoot for them then I feel it would be wrong to then shoot for another magazine. What's so hard to understand about that?
No one is preventing me from shooting anyone or anything, but I PERSONALLY consider it wrong.
-
240,
Here's what I posted to Jack
"Jack,
I have no problem shooting with you. At the moment my bodybuilding stuff is exclusively with FLEX and scheduled through them. When I'm in the US it's at their expense and it wouldn't be right for me to undertake other work while I'm there."
Now read it, and read it again and then tell me how you can then quote me as saying "cause it'd be "like cheating on the IFBB", as you said tonight."
I don't mind an honest debate or even a down and dirty slagging match, but I do object to being misquoted.
Consideing how you accused Chick of creating posts to discredit you, I find it rather shocking that you are prepared to completely lie about what I said!

to clarify, i was paraphrasing to get ya back for the wayne 'rolling over' comment. made it relationship based- cheating- to deliver this 3rd tier pun. Follow? Neither of us did anything carnal, but noth of us implied it. Make sense now? I sometimes forget that IFBB employees would lie to their own mothers to protect their greedy bosses.

Sorry Son, that's the most ridiculous excuse for lying I've ever heard.
