Mike is one week out......haven't seen him post lately.
Must be hectic last minute stuff...
Getting his music burned on to cd
Buying protan
Practicing his routine
Theres no feeling like the first few coats of protan you see on your 6% bodyfat physique.

me too...I am curious,what IS the norm when it comes to carbing up before a contest?When do you start and how much/what kind of carbs do you eat?

Goes something like this...
Last leg day a week out
Last cardio maybe monday
Start carb depleting Sunday
Sunday - 120 grams ....Gallon of distilled water
Monday -90....Gallon of DW
Tuesday -60...Gallon of DW....pose your ass off....this helps with the loading to fill you out
Start Loading on Wednesday...mostly sweet potato's and brown rice. Of course the mirror plays a big part the last week.
Wednesday - 200 grams ....Drop DW to 3/4 Gallon....start diuretic.If natural you can use Taraxatone or something similar.
Thursday - 300..Drop DW to 1/2 ..protein has little effect at this point you don't need to be concerned with getting nine trillion grams.
Some think that increasing your fat helps fill you out too...
Friday -300 to 400 preferably before 6 pm...DW....Just sipping to get the carbs down
Friday night late before bed....THE LAST SUPPER....piece of filet mignon and a whole bottle of merlot to suck out the last drops of water.
Protan starts wednesday night
Wednesday-2 coats
Thursday-2 coats-no shower
Friday-2 coats-no shower
Saturday Morning Touch up-you guessed it-no shower..try to relax even though your ready to kill someone
Friday and saturday try to stay on your back with your legs higher than your body because gravity will pool water in your legs.
Thats why you see a lot of pro's laying on their backs in between rounds...
Then FINALLY you hear the expeditor yell out what you been waiting to hear for three months
'MASTER MEN LINE UP' Scared shitless the first time you walk that walk but ita a moment you never forget
Then you walk out and its pretty much over in 3 minutes....I mean they still have you go thru the 1/4 turns and the mandatories but they pretty much know who's in the top three right away...sometimes you got a few guys that are close .
Bodybuilding is crazy....the first show or two is exciting....after that it becomes work to do more shows, continually trying new depleting/loading schemes trying different carbs etc. drives you crazy.
And at any show there always controversial decisions...Sometimes you ARE the best there in your class and you get 2nd or 3rd
I mean its not who's the fastest or who is the strongest or who can throw something the farthest
Its about what 5 or 6 people think you look like!
Then theres the show where 3 guys show in your class
Or the show where theres 12 in your class and some national level guy decides to do your show as a tune up.
And don't forget the politics...lot of judges are personal trainers and if a client or two of theirs is in the show....well.....you know
I know I'm long winded here but I'm on the overnight shift for a while 8pm to 8am and I'm BORED STIFF...... TGFGB

Mike based on this pic you look like you will lean and hard enough to do well.
Now I know it was one pose, but...ya gotta realize that the judges look at the ENTIRE body when doing any shot. You look hard BUT too straight up and down in that pic. Remember to flar your lats and have your thighs bow out as well, more of an X look. All the best, go get 'em, Howard
