USA coverage, Lee Priest, Shawn Ray, and more. Let's get it on.
-
Shawn Ray is going to present the NPC USA report tonight.
This is their 45th broadcast.
Bob & Lee has a colorful, entertaining history. A lot of people in high places brace themselves when he comes on the show. You have to respect Lee because he is not afraid to speak his mind. But some of the stuff he comes up with is completely outrageous. Should be an entertaining show.
-
Bob calls Lee "James Dean - Rebel without a cause".
Dan points out Lee/Bob's colorful history, and that many people high in the sport are listening closely to Lee's words.
Bob: "Lee and I are both cut from the same mold"

Dan points out the vast variety of opinions that come from readers. Many felt Bob/Dan were too hard on Lou Ferrigno. Others felt him to be an inspiration. Bob says he's always identified with Lou Ferrigno.
Dan asks Bob to talk about his realtionship with Lou:
Bob: "What he said wan't exactly truthful. The story I told was the truth - I think that was kind of rude about Lou. He has some issues. He's still stuck on the 75 Olympia - it's just craziness"
-
The guys talk about Darrem skipping the Olympia. He beat Dennis James at the O, but he'd never get the callouts at the O, and he probably wouldn't place over DJ. Shows some judging inconsistencies.
-

haha awesome !
good job Bob !

Bob is right. Lou is an asshole and still stuck on the 75 Olympia and being a sore loser.
-
Bob on Lou Ferrigno - ‘The worst thing you can do in life is to meet your idol.” There isn’t a lot of love between Bob & Lou. Lou is a little bid rude, and he has some issues. This guy is still stuck on the 1975 Olympia. That is crazy!
Europa show – Darrem Charles is going to compete in this show and the Atlantic show – but is not going to compete in the Olympia. Darrem feels that the judges suck and are less kind to him than other competitors so he is boycotting the show. Bodybuilding is all about who you are standing next to. Darrem is the king of the $10,000 pro shows. It is a tactical error on Darrem’s part not to go into the Olympia after he beat Dennis James – who was 10 five at last year’s Olympia.

hahahaha, "Bob's puppet strings".
-
Lee priest, age 34, joins Dan and Bob on the show.
Lee: "I love Bob. Without those puppet strings, he wouldn't be able to move".
Lee: "I didn't like the contract at the O last year - free DVD and image use."
-
lol lee ripping on bob
-
Brought to you by Leukic from Muscletech. Awesome product.
Ernie Taylor has announced his retirement from pro bodybuilding. A pec tear will take you out of the running. Something like that will be devastating to an athlete.
Lets bring on Lee Priest, another Bob Cicherillo fan.
Bob is a puppet. What the hell is that rebel without a cause shit.
Settle down boys.
For the millionth time, I didn’t like the Olympia contract. Yes Bob – it is the same contract this year. But the PDI show is 2 weeks before, and I am looking forward to it, so I will be in shape, so why not do the Olympia also.
-
LEE: "The PDI show is 2 weeks before. I might as well do the O 2 weeks later. I'll be in shape, so why not do it?"
Bob: "I readd your post on getbig about the Lee priest foundation. I can't help but think - are you announcing you're not doing the PDI show?"
Lee" Of course I'm doing the PDI show"
-

Bob: "I readd your post on getbig about the Lee priest foundation. I can't help but think - are you announcing you're not doing the PDI show?"
Lee" Of course I'm doing the PDI show"
"You ARE?!" :o
"Let's just go ahead and say the rules are a bunch of shit"
-
Lee points out many examples of drugs and pornography rules being broken by the IFBB guys, then wonders why only HE would be punished for the PDI.
Lee:" I'm sure if many of the IFBB guys knew they wouldn't get suspended, they would do the NOC and make a little extra change"
Bob: "It's against the rules."
The men are now talking over one another.
Lee points out the selective enforcement. Dan interjects peace.
Lee: "The rules are a bunch of shit."
-
the IFBB rules are a bunch of shit ;D
-
I read your earlier post on Getbig regarding the Lee Priest foundation. Are you announcing that you are not doing the PDI show?
Yes, I am doing the PDI show. But are you trying to say they will suspend me if I do the PDI show. The IFBB rule book has to be fair for everybody. You cant pick and choose which rules you like and which rules you don’t. What about pornographic photos and videos. Is that ok. They let that slide by. Why cant I do the PDI show. There are lots of shows before the Olympia. Other people are not getting blackballed or suspended.
The differences is that those other shows are IFBB show. Those are against the rules, even though we are not talking on other rules. You want to compete in a different federation, which is the number one rule in the IFBB rulebook.
But you are saying some rules are more important. The rules are a bunch of shit!!!!
-
Lee admits he may not be allowed to do the O. He says he'll be there for the fans.
Bob asks again about the Lee Priest foundation. Says, why do you want to break thru and go to a rival federation, after the IFBB has done so much for you?
-
Lee admits he may not be allowed to do the O. He says he'll be there for the fans.
Bob asks again about the Lee Priest foundation. Says, why do you want to break thru and go to a rival federation, after the IFBB has done so much for you?
lol yeah they screw him more than he ever could in another federation !
-
Lee: "It might fail, it might not fail. it's not about making money. Compete against different people for a change. Many good athletes come to an IFBB show and these guys are never called out. The NOC gives guys a chance to show what they've got."
Bob: "Why the PDI?"
Lee: "the IFBB used to always say, if you don't like it, go there. there was no place to go. All the athletes complain, but they all kiss ass when the ifbb brass comes around. Yes sir, no sir. I know drugs might shrinkin your testes, but you shuld still have balls".
-
drug's might shrink your testicles, but you still have balls, so use them!
-
I probably won’t be allowed to compete in the Olympia, but I will be there to compete, ready and in great shape.
The PDI is not a rival federation, it is another place to complete and make money. To me, it is a contest. Why not give it a go. People are putting down the PDI - but at the IFBB show - sometimes it is such a big lineup - the judges don’t even give these international guys a chance.
There is nothing really there in NABBA that fancies me competing there. Whenever I got in trouble with the IFBB – they told me to just go somewhere else. Now there is a choice. Other athletes want to do it – but they fear the backlash.
Vince retracted the move to the PDI – what is Vince referring to in his comments in his statements. Lee says that he spoke to Wayne about it – and Waynes ideas and money is good to me.
Lee – why didn’t you come to the union meeting. Lee says he was competing the next morning and couldn’t come to the meeting.
But other athletes came to the meeting for the cause and you didn’t Lee.
-
Lee: I have nothing but respect for Vince. I'm amazed he's gone back. But there is still time. he could still come back again".
bob: "All your probs were under wayne at the time - the guy holding the carrot out right now. but when I held a meeting, I never saw you there.
lee: I was competing that night, and I was putting on my tanning oil that day.
bob: other athletes made it, you didnt.
lee: back in 94, i was suspended for speaking out. but i wanna see the sport changed for everybody. without the
The athletes have the power - but they don't seem to realize that (lee sounds like quite a good rep here!)
-
Lee: Everyone is scared to take that first step, for fear of being reprimanded.
Bob: A lot of ppl said it was christmas in australia for you this year. You have gotten your fair share as an IFBB pro. You've bitched about the judging, you've bitched about the IFBB.
Lee: It's about the rules, not the judging.
-
hahahahaha bob is having a meltdown! Classic! Lee is just sitting back and KILLING him :)
-
hahahahaha bob is having a meltdown! Classic! Lee is just sitting back and KILLING him :)
Bob is melting
-
hahahahahaha even Dan is laughing at Bob.. this is priceless!
-
Lee is holding his own against Bob’s attacks. Lee is zinging some back at Bob too.
Lee owning Bob – Christmas in June over Bob’s win at the Masters. Nice.
Bob having a meltdown? Perhaps a monster meltdown?
You bitched about the judging, the IFBB, you are contradicting yourself.
But I don’t bitch about the judges. Only about the IFBB.
Lee is the most fined athletes in IFBB history. $17,000 dollars.
That is more than Bob has won in all of his IFBB Pro shows.
-
Bob: You enjoy the title of being the most fined guy in IFBB history.
lee: $17k, - that's more than you won at your show, Bob.
bob: Why do you trust wayne?
Lee: that's the second time you've brought that up, Bob.
Lee then explains that his battles about rules have nothing to do with the judging.
-
Bob: Listen, we all know ben was head of the IFBB. Wayne was in charge. ben had NOTHING to do with any of that stuff.
Lee: Wayne was told thru Ben what to do.
-
Suspensions and fines were from Ben, not Wayne.
-
Dan: You recently announced plans for the foundation. Details?
Lee: Anyone in the Bbing industry. A different version of the make-a-wish-foundation. Anything from up and coming pros to a school that needs fitness equipment. It's in the early stages right now. i'll help with plane tix/hotels, etc. I will try to get $ for guys who need a hand, or guys who want to go back to school, etc.
-
Wayne had nothing to do with the fines and it was all Ben! Ben put Wayne in charge back then, now Jim Manion is in charge. But the fines all came from Ben - it was his signature on it. Jim Manion didn’t even know what was in the Olympia contract.
Lee says to Bob – keep on my good side – you may need it in the future!
Dan and Bob are flustered at Lee’s answers. Excellent show.
Dan is laughing at Bob as Lee’s zingers come strong and furious.
Shawn Ray up next –
-
Anybody else break out into a spinning head stand as that bbing.com ad music was going?
-
lee delivering several creakicks to bob...while dan types away and laughs...
-
Adding Shawn Ray to the convo. Awesome lineup in the studio tonight!
Shawn tells us about the 2006 NPC USAs. 330 competitors, 200 of them were figure.
-
330 competitors, 200 of them were figure.
What did the titty bars do that night?
-
It was hot in Vegas – it was hot. I was roasting out there. You should see my tan.
330 competitors – over 200 were figure. It was ridiculous how many girls were on stage to get a glimpse on stage. It was the most highly attended as far as participation is concerned – but not enough depth. If you compete long enough – you numbers of bound to come up. Omar was competing against Leo Ingram to the end – and Mike Ergas finally got it done. Not a lot of depth or quality in the competitors. But figure – anyone can win – the girl in 10th place can win it – they all look great.
Judges got it wrong again!!!! What the hell is going on with these judges!
Bob had Leo Ingram winning the Super Heavyweights and the overall. So did Shawn Ray. But there were no boos that night. Yes – there will be people who disagree with some decisions. But they pretty much nailed the top 5. You can find reasons why you didn’t win even though you are your best. Hats off to Omar and Michael. Too good rookie pros – but the IFBB stage is a dangerous place. These guys have to pick their shows wisely or they will be just another body on the stage.
These guys are not Phil Heaths.
-
dont do the ironman...epic dis on the ironman show...stfu shawn ray
-
Boring..................
Move on.................
-
Lee tells Bob to send a shout out to the peanut gallery!
-
Shawn Ray says to competitors not to do the Ironman. Go do another show – like the Colorado Pro show or the Montreal Show.
If I was Leo Ingram, I would wait for the Nationals – where he should win his class and the overall. I would like to see a comparison of the National champ versus the USA champ.
Sometimes just getting that pro card maybe enough to push their thirst – or become like a Richard Jones – who does a show once or twice – and then goes into oblivious.
I just don’t know that they are ready for the pro leagues even though the won their pro cards and classes.
Tell everyone hello to the peanut gallery on Getbig!!!! That was funny!
-
Shawn Ray says to competitors not to do the Ironman. Go do another show – like the Colorado Pro show or the Montreal Show.
why people shouldn't do the ironman?
-
stfu shawn let the others talk...damn...lets hear from lee so he can own you some more
-
Bob should know about beating a girl.......... :-X
-
Shawn - You can't make change without following rules.
Lee- where are the rules, with the IFBB?
Shawn you call the pres and ask him
Lee- soemtimes the rules apply to some, and not to others.
Shawn- you haaven't accomplished anything. Bob has accomplished a lot. You gotta either be down with one fed or the other.
Lee- a contest is a contest.
Shawn- shouting- you're trying to compete in 2 diff federations.
Lee- then everyone should be banned.
Bob- even tho there are rules that get bent, the one thing you can't do is compete in the otehr federation. But you're the only one
Shawn- you can't compete in 2 diff federations.
Lee- OMG< i'm going to retire with the $4k.
Shawn - If you think you can compete in two federations
Shawn- the PDI hasn't happened.
Lee- The montreal show hasn't happened.
Shawn - I think you should
Lee- Bob mentions the word "IFBB" 4 times more than the 'atheltes'.
Shawn defends Bob. Says Lee gets nothing changed. Says Lee has to go thru certain protocols.
BOB: I WOULD SUBMIT - if any athletes wanted to compete. A lot of the guys don't want to stand onstage. You're in a no-win situation. You're like fighting a girl.
-
Holy Balls Shawn you sounded a bit defensive with Lee. Way to talk over him the entire time you were on bro.
Lee I don't agree with everything you do but you laid it down on the show.
-
shawn must think he is getting paid by the word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Shawn, let Lee talk man.
-
Shawn says he is working with Jim and Jim actually listens – instead of fighting the system. Lee is building walls instead of bridges in trying to get change done. Sounds like you want to make change without following rules.
Lee – you have not accomplished much – but Bob accomplishes a lot – everybody in the Olympia this year gets $4,000. You want to play in the Superbowl but also play in the cup in Canada.
Dan is pretty much quiet while Shawn, Bob and Lee go at it.
Lee wants to donate is $4,000 to charity from the Olympia.
Shawn has taken over the radio show!
Shawn trying to get Lee not to do the NOC.
Bob is the politician – not Lee – in terms of change and putting things in writing.
Shawn says - At the end of the day – it is business – and you can make more money in the IFBB than the PDI.
-
Let Lee talk....................
-
Lee suggests bringing a doctor into the IFBB to do some steroid tests, sincethe IFBB is now so interested in following rules.
-
Where would Lee get the idea of being "blackballed from"..... ::)
-
Lee says many of the sponsors were threatened by IFBB, not to give $ to the PDI.
-
fire shawn from the show and never allow him back on
-
Funny how neither bob or shawn will admit that Lee is right that most of the athletes are breaking rules. Lee is 100% right.
-
Shawn: Manion said any athlete that competes in the PDI is banned from the IFBB.
Wow, Shawn sounds like a total company man. Funny that he spent his career yelling for reform, then suddenly supports the rulebook 1000% once he's a promoter.
-
The rulebook. The rulebook. Where are the rules?
If you compete in the PDI, you will be suspended.
I will bring a doctor to the Olympia to test the athletes on who has steroids in them – according to the rulebook – they will be suspended.
You can’t play in the Canadian football league and the NFL in the same year. The rule is stupid. It should be changed.
A lot of the problems with this is that just speaking out – you can be blackballed – and sponsors too are afraid.
You won’t Flex Magazine or Muscle & Fitness magazine run PDI ads. Are they afraid?
Why is Getbig and other magazines talk about the PDI, but the IFBB wont let these magazine or their writers talk about the PDI?
Why can’t Ironman Magazine and John Bailik put PDI ads in the magazine. Did they scare him into not saying anything about the PDI anywhere in his magazine. Is it not news?
Jim Manion has no interest what you decide to do. But any athlete will be suspended if they compete in another federation.
-
Shawn probably really believe that his talk has logic.. very comical.
-
Funny how neither bob or shawn will admit that Lee is right that most of the athletes are breaking rules. Lee is 100% right.
exactly...epic avoidance by shawn and bob... is dan still awake or is he fielding calls about how the ifbb rules are bullshit
lee whipped bob's ass and then they bring in a tag team partner to help him try to defeat lee
thanks for tuning in to pdi radio
-
Bob: Nobody else wants to challenge the rules, except you. Assuming you are suspended, what will your recourse be?
Lee: Wait and see. I'll give you something else to talk about then.
Bob: What % chance is there, that this PDI show will take place?
Lee: 100% the show will take place.
Bob: I'm concerned about the lack of sponsorship
Shawn: Has a lot to do with the promoter, why he's no longer in the IFBB. You blamed Ben Weider, and Wayne was the one making all the rules.
Lee then sends shots out to 240, sarcasm, ifbbwanna be, alexx, onlyme, ron avidan.
-
lee: "Bob got 1st but should have been 6th at the masters Pro"
-
Lee – you want your cake and eat it too!
Bob and Dan couldn’t handle Lee – so they brought in the big guns – Shawn Ray.
There is a rule book –
What would your recourse be if you are suspended –
We need to wait and see if the PDI show happens and go from there.
Things have to be ironed out with lawyers and things regarding the foundation and other things.
100% that the PDI Night of Champions will take place.
Bob is concerned about the lack of sponsorships at the PDI Night of Champions.
Did they really say that the IFBB Rules are stupid!
Lee got another tattoo after his face tattoo.
Dan is cutting them off – but the battle of words will continue on Getbig!
-
shawn took over the show... started asking questions... solomon lost control of the show... the shawn and bob tag team lost to lee... the ifbb rules were quoted as being bullshit by the host and the guest... good thing they are the ones mcing the olympia...maybe they can ask the competitors if they think the rules are bullshit there tooo
by the way shawn...it's can of worms or ball of wax... not ball of worms...
hope this helps
-
by the way shawn...it's can of worms or ball of wax... not ball of worms...
Actually, Shawns sex life might be best explained as "ball of worms".
You do the math.
-
Gotta say that was an entertaining episode. Like listening to a Jerry Spring show but with bodybuilders talking over each other. Only thing missing was 240 in the middle of them all. ;)
-
it would be cool hearing 240 arguing with bob !
-

Way to go, Lee. You are a true man of courage.
I have never been so sickened in my life by these puppets who know that Bodybuilding is about 50 years behind the times but are afraid to do anything about it.
Even though you are dieting and obviously didn't have a whole lot of energy you spoke with courage and vision.
The arguments that were levied against you were simply too pathetic to even comment on.
Stand up for what is right!
Some people act from ego (puppets) and some people act from spirit (Lee P.)
Spirit guides the great ones to do what's right, even if it's unpopular.
-
Lee says many of the sponsors were threatened by IFBB, not to give $ to the PDI.
Wonder why that is ::) I guess those creeps don't have enough power in the sport of bodybuilding :-X So much for trying to get the sport to grow. Good job IFBB ::) The sport is really getting better ::)
-
I dont get it. When are the "good ol boys" gonna understand that the IFBB is NOT the NFL or on par with any other major sport on the planet. I love bodybuilding but by comparison how many bodybuilding fans are there compared to football, soccer, baseball? Get a fuckin clue Chick and Shawn. The sport is steroid filled and the glory days were over 30 years ago i.e Arnold, Oliva, etc. And with these new laws being enacted by Congress bodybuilding as we know will change or cease to exist over the next couple of years or possible sooner. This is NOT the NFL. Praise Lee for trying to make money while he can. Lee is one of a couple of bodybuilders who have something to fall back on (racing). Look at guys like Vince Taylor who has openly admitted he is out of money. These guys struggle like hell to make the money they do make. Muscletechs aren't everywhere. Chick and Shawn are two company guys who are delusional in believing that being an IFBB pro alone puts food on these guys plates which has been provin overtime is not the case. Prove me wrong. Ronnie Coleman or Arnold does not count. Mr Olympias even dont pull in tons of dough. How many pro bbs have side businesses to support themselves? Most all of them.
-
Thank you Bob and Lee for mentioning Getbig on the show - it was very appreciated. And thanks to Dan Solomon for providing the netwaves in hearing three of the pros - Bob, Lee and Shawn battle it out via debate, and a few interesting jabs. This was one of the most entertaining radio shows yet...
-
Obviously, you missed the point of the analogy...that you can't play for 2 different teams, or federations, etc....
The other point you missed, was that many bodybuilders make a nice living from being a IFBB pro bodybuilder...Lee included. Prize money, guest posings, seminars, appearances, supp company contracts, etc...can all be traced back to exposure, competing in the IFBB...that was the point.
-

Ok you have a point but how many of all IFBB pros make actual prize money (not the 1000 bucks for placing last at the Olympia)? How many get an opportunity to guest pose? How many get supplement contracts? Im talking about an overall number. You would know better than I would obviously. And you have mentioned on this board before about how you pros have to fly yourselves out to shows. And what about health insurance? Out of 100 IFBB pros how many would you say make a lucrative living as an IFBB pro? I think Lee even said that he doesnt do many guest posings and most of his money comes from his supplement deals. And you obviously have to be a pretty good bodybuilder to get that sort of deal to begin with. Do you see Ken Jones racking up hundreds of thousands of dollars as an IFBB pro. Heck no. All I am saying Chick is that this sport is obviously not an easy one to make money in. I bet an NFL 6th round pick makes more on average than a mid level IFBB pro. Would you agree?

BRING BACK THE UNDERCOVER DONUT BOY ! (or whatever you called yourself ;D)
Undercover Dough.
And it was quite a hit with Bbing.com fans and mgmt til a certain moderator there had a hissy fit.

-
Few make a living from prize money alone...it's in conjunction with thee other things I mentioned.
Everyone knows this as they enter the IFBB...this sport is based on performance, much like aany other sport.....the best make the big bucks...the middle guys make a good living, the rest fall by the wayside. The entertainment business is no diffferent, come to think of it...where in lif does this NOT apply?
Health insurance is available to any and all IFBB pro's, at a group rate.
It's all reletive as to how much money a 6th round draft pick makes vs a pro bodybuilder...the guys at the top are making 100's of millions, so comparably...they aint making shit. The NFL is not in the same leeague as the IFBB...they have a huge fan base, TV revenue, merchandise, etc.
The "lower ranked" bodybuilders would fare no better in another federation, than they do in the IFBB...there has to be a fan base thats willing to spend their money in support...ain't happening with a sub-par product/ organization.

Tiger Woods plays golf for the PGA, right? yet he is free to play in anycharity events, and private events, any damn event he pleases, to earn a buck.
Bowling - guys play for the PGA, but are free to play for money anytime they wish. After all, they are not salaried- they are guys who show up to play for a chance at some money.
Most individual sports who do not pay contracts are like this. IFBB's monopoly on the sport has allowed them to force guys to sign non-compete clauses.
Also, Lee spanked you tonight, Bob. You sounded pretty angry up there.
-
Chick why cant bodybuilders do what fighters do i used to fight in kickboxing and would do shows for different promoters different sanction bodies it was never a problem boxers do the same thing if an organisation is not paying monthly salary athlete should not be restricted and dont use the rules are rules excuse because they getting broken over and over.

Maybe you're right but for Lee and MAYBE some other guys there is opportunity elsewhere like you said NABBA WABBA and so forth. With Congress coming over the horizon you, the IFBB, PDI, and whoever else are on alert. And you cant bullshit me and anyone else into believing that all these pros have lifestyles that will support them outside the sport. I give you an example Bob Sapp. NFL washout turned Japanese phenom. NFL pros can make a lot of money over there careers as roleplayers and retire wealthy and live a good financially stable life as can baseball players. Not all these pros go to hollywood, personal train, etc. Some these guys eat breathe and sleep bodybuilding and all that encompass it. Cant all be Jay Cutler or Bob Chick. Oh and we agree that the IFBB is not in the same league as the NFL. Hell even WWE for that matter which is a shame

Ricky Williams(NFL CFL), Deion Sanders(NFL MLB), Brian Jordan(NFL MLB). Hmmmmmm
-
Ricky Williams played for the NFL and the CFL at the SAME TIME? News to me...enlighten us all with more detail, please.....

HMMMMM
Williams, who is playing in the CFL while serving an NFL suspension, underwent surgery late Sunday night to repair a fracture to his left forearm. Williams was hurt in Toronto's 26-23 win in Saskatchewan on Saturday night.
Williams, 29, joined the Argos in May after being suspended for the entire 2006 season by the NFL for a fourth violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Toronto signed Williams to a one-year deal after first getting permission from the Miami Dolphins, to whom Williams remains under contract for two more years.
The injury prompted speculation that the Dolphins would step in and try to have Williams' CFL tenure cut short. But Argos president Keith Pelley said he expects Williams to return to Toronto's lineup this season after sitting out four to six weeks to let the arm heal.
"We're very confident that Ricky will be back, it's just a matter of when," Pelley said. "That decision, however, will be made by Michael (Argos coach Mike Clemons) and his staff.
"I've not spoken to anyone with the Dolphins but their medical people have talked to our medical people about Ricky's injury."
"We're very supportive of Ricky and the season that he is having in Canada," Dolphins coach Nick Saban said in a statement Monday. "Hopefully he will have a speedy recovery, and we feel certain this setback will not affect his future as a football player."

Excellent points

Oh and Williams could easily attend training camp while under suspension by the NFL but his team allowed him to play it out in canada believing he could make himself more money and keep in shape and the competitive edge.
-
Ricky Williams played for the NFL and the CFL at the SAME TIME? News to me...enlighten us all with more detail, please.....
Deion played both, but Ricky hasn't. Besides, the IFBB isn't a public league. It's a Weider Private Monopoly.
Lee is right in the fact that the IFBB only enforces certain rules.
-
Deion played both, but Ricky hasn't. Besides, the IFBB isn't a public league. It's a Weider Private Monopoly.
LMAO... it's a nonprofit canadian organization, which feels it has the right to stop people from earning money in America and Eurpoe. Incredible. It just sounds more silly by the minute.
-
Deion played both, but Ricky hasn't. Besides, the IFBB isn't a public league. It's a Weider Private Monopoly.
Ricky is playing for both he is UNDER CONTRACT to the Miami Dolphins. He is playing football in one league while he should be in training camp for the Miami Dolphins.
-
But he's not playing for both teams right now. He still has to sit out a year due to his suspension.
-
What the hell do you call the training camp he is missing out on? He is under contract and part of that football team. Just like Lee Priest is not competing in the PDI the same night as an IFBB show, right?
-
hmmmm Muhamad Ali,Kostya Tsyu,Evander Holyfield,Mike Tyson,Lennox Lewis they all held titles from different organisations at the same time but maybe i am wrong maybe they arent athletes
-

Listen numnuts, I didn't say he wasn't apart of that team anymore, yes he still is under contract, but he can't practice, play, or attend any meetings due to his 2nd positive drug testing, for the 2007 season.
-

Chill with the bullshit petty name calling. Anyway he can practice with the team. The punter for the Denver Broncos who was suspended for testing positive for ephedra is still practicing with the team. You can practice and attend meetings. It is a one year game suspension. Keep up with the NFL. Check the news before spewing out stupid info and childish name calling.
-
lots of nfl guys come up here to play in the cfl, no biggie, the nfl doesn't seem to mind their athletes trying to better themselves and make some more money
-
I tried some gakic cause a dude gave me a sample at a show, it really sucks !
plus those pills are way to big ! The only guy who could swallow things this big is alexxx !
Alexxx could swallow a whole bottle at a time. He's a muscle building machine. Unstoppable ;D
-
Obviously, you missed the point of the analogy...that you can't play for 2 different teams, or federations, etc....
The other point you missed, was that many bodybuilders make a nice living from being a IFBB pro bodybuilder...Lee included. Prize money, guest posings, seminars, appearances, supp company contracts, etc...can all be traced back to exposure, competing in the IFBB...that was the point.
Yes but last time i checked we are all INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS.So it says on my contract
-
Ok you have a point but how many of all IFBB pros make actual prize money (not the 1000 bucks for placing last at the Olympia)?
You would probaly have 10-15 that make a living just from bodybuilding no other job outside.
-
NFL 6th round pick: Signing Bonus = $100,000; Minimum Rookie Salary: $275,000; Total=$375,000
Number of 6th round picks in 2006: 32
Average age of NFL rookie: 22
Pro Bodybuilder: Signing Bonus= $0; Minimum Rookie Salary: $0
Number of Pro Bodybuilders Earning more than $375,000 in 2006 (not including drug sales) = 1
Average age of IFBB Pro: 35
Nuff said,
Special "NUMB3RS" Ed

Lee still, you never laid out exactly what it is your trying to do? ???
If you want give away Prize Money to help others, why not compete in Montreal, Atlantic City, Mr. O then Europe?
You could certainly in a few weeks time, donate more to your "Foundation" than if you win the ONE PDI event in September.
Enlighten us here ;D
Thx,

While Chic is calling Manion for answers to all your questions............... . Good job Lee. Guaranteed if just 50% of the IFBB pros had the balls you have there woudl be huge changes in the IFBB. WHat Ifind funny is how Chic keeps saying there is no support or sponsors for the PDI. I find that amusing. I also find how much they say the IFBB is not worried about the PDI yet FLex and M&F both will not allow ads in their magazines for the PDI. It's also funny how the IFBB (AMI) threaten sponsors who want to support the PDI by telling them advertising rates will be increased or involvement in future IFBB shows will not be available. All that from people who are not afraid of Wayne. And I also find it amusing how even Sean and Chic both agree and state how Wayne ran the IFBB and Ben had no input or say so. Everything bad that happened was Wayne's fault, yet everything good that happened was Ben's doing. Hilarious.
Here what Chic and the IFBB should do since Chic is so sure no one would compete in the PDI and that no one would support it. Put out a public notice and mail each IFBB pro an official notice stating all IFBB members can now compete in the PDI with absolutley no recourse or penalty from the IFBB. Lets see how many woudl compete. Should be no skin off anyoes back since no one will compete according to Chic. Come on I will even put the letter together for you. All you have to do is get it published for free in Flex and M&F and mail out to each member.
-
I bet there were a lot of IFBB guys at home tonight laughing their asses off.
I wonder if this will stimulate a little change, a few murmurs from other BBers who feel the same way as Lee.
-
Ah, 240 I'd be interested to see who those Bbers would be.
The previous names added to the list are somewhat to be desired. ::)
-

Shawn, I was amused by your speech tonight. You were way more composed and under control than Chic, and it seemed like you were not against change. Rather, change within the system. And IMO, that is the best type of change, when you find a way to use the rulebook to win.
I agree the PDI competitor list is not yet top caliber. But hey, it's the first show.
Shawn, I can see you running a PDI show in a year or two. You go where the opportunities are, you don't have that blind faith that Chic has, who would follow the IFBB brass off a cliff. I can see VYO running a west coast show in a year and you promoting it :)

Who ever credited anything to Ben?
The guys that would compete, Keith, are the one's that would be considering the PDI anyway...nothing different there.
Top guys would never step on the PDI stage with the likes of guys that couldn't earn their pro card the old fashioned way....I think you're forgetting that.
-
I bet there were a lot of IFBB guys at home tonight laughing their asses off.
I wonder if this will stimulate a little change, a few murmurs from other BBers who feel the same way as Lee.
You got that right...but not for the reasons you think.
-
How easy people forget. When the IFBB was competing for competitors back in the 1970s they allowed champions like Arnold and Sergio to compete in the NABBA Universe. Just about every top guy won the Universe first. It was after NABBA lost their leader, Oscar Heidenstamn, that the IFBB ascended to the top organization and everyone wanted to win the Olympia.
You know what I find amusing and sad at the same time? Professional bodybuilding is a non-profit sport! Who makes enough to survive on contest earnings except a few guys? What do the rest do?
The IFBB doesn't care about bodybuilders and has always treated them with disdain. They look after a few guys but the majority pay fees and receive virtually nothing.
In most contests a bodybuilder shows up and pays fees and so on to compete. That doesn't mean they endorse the organization they have joined to compete. They join because it is required. It is a formality.
Lee Priest is a man among boys. Everyone knows the deal of going against the IFBB. You place 8th!!!! Sergio & Bev. Anyone who speaks out risks winning or placing high in contests. So competitors keep their mouths shut and place above those who speak out.
Change the rules, elect a proper president and officials for the IFBB. Make new judging rules and criteria. Test for drugs and synthol and inserts. No silicon for women. Then you might save this drug infested sport.
-
Sounds like a Rebel trying to Rebel.
Nothing will come of it, "If" the PDI show comes off and Lee is in it.
Thanks for the memories Lee! ;D
Otherwise, good luck at the Mr. O, remember No man is an Island.
You would be better served if you can get some or ONE Athlete to side with your arguement and you'd be better represented to make change instead of whistling in the wind.
Peace,
S. Ray
-
You got that right...but not for the reasons you think.
They may have been laughing at the comment you made about "Lee and I are both cut from the same mold. We always speak our mind", at which point Lee got on the phone and called you a puppet in front of 20,000 listeners.
Puppets don't speak their mind. Therein lies the pun.
-
Look Shawn and Bob. Lee has a clue about what goes on. He won't win the Olympia. He knows that and so does everyone else. So why shouldn't he do what he likes? Why should another pro advise him where to compete? That is not at all what professionals should do.
How come some of those Olympia winners have no lines under the bottom of their calves yet have striations in their glutes. Hell, at a fat 225 pounds and at 63 years old I still have a cut under my calves. Where are Ronnies? How can he win the Olympia with those calves? Where are the rules? Why aren't they enforced? In my opinion Lee Priest is a better bodybuilder than Ronnie Coleman. Sure Ronnie is huge and amazing but he hasn't got a beautiful body, has virtual breasts and no cuts in his lower calves. In other words he has no complete calves. That is how we talk in bodybuilding. I have nothing against Ronnie or anyone else. Just because I live in Australia doesn't mean that I am supporting Lee. I will support anyone who tells the truth. That is why I am supporting Milos and Lee. It is about time the courageous and intelligent guys started standing up and speaking out in this sport.
-
Chic I am mad at you for not talking to me from the USA. At least I talked to Sean. Bill was trying to get you the phone so I could at least say Hi. He tried at the Cal too. I hope you aren't going to be stuck up now.
-

Shiiiit, bro...I must have missed Bill when he had you on the line. I did talk to him briefly.
You should have had your ass AT the USA...
-
Chick and Shawn.
Why the hell are you not admitting Lee is right about the rules.
The rules are a load you shit you both know it.
Rules are broken every single day in the IFBB.
Lets ban all the competitors because there on steroids.
Lets ban all the competitors because there doing other gay rules that don't count in the IFBB.
Rules are rules. Why have rules if they are not going to be implamented.
Fuck the IFBB ;)
BTW LEE YOUR F*#CKING awesome only if there where another 10 Lee Priests in bodybuilding then something might get done that is highley productive.
-
shit....that was a good show tonight. Lee kept his cool under pressure.
-
I have tons of respect for Lee, the man stands up for what he believes in and doesn't back down.
-
Chick surely you should respect Lee for taking a stand. You have to put your head above the parapet in life sometimes. The best thing that can happen to the IFBB is competition. Improvements dont happen in a monopoly

why'd my posts here disapear? I want to make a comment about the peanut gallery. Bob and company if you mention the names of some of those from the peanut gallery you are just encouraging their behavior and more people will act like idiots just to get mentioned by a pro. The "internet celebrities" shouldn't get recognition. It'll just give them more reason to be stupid. Bob when you said "gibbing" did that have anything to do with me? Furthermore guys like sarcasm shouldn't be mentioned with onlyme. Getbig has a clear line of demarkation between good guys, bad guys, and amazing tards.

Shawn i am quiet happy to stand alone. If no one wants to take a stand that is fine they can go back stage and bitch to you as normal. You just trying to hang on to what you have left.Must suck to feel it sliping away.
-
LEE THIS IS THE REASON YOU HAVE SO MANY FAN'S, were all on your side here. :)
-
Lee, your making Jokes, I'm trying to hang on to what I have and all your out bursts have the Peanut Gallery screaming for more. ;D
Must be nice to be King of the Hill while the changes you truly seek have no foundation or order. ::)
You certainly dont need my help in trying to plead your case but then again, what changes have or impact have you made in the industry that ONE Athlete has benefitted from?
Must be the Tatoo Ink getting to your head ::)
I love you! :-*
S. Ray
-
Oh i love you to.Ahh n o i don't :) .Just keep doing what is best for you and Bob as normal :). Oh Oh DON'T BE LIKE THAT I AM OFF TO GYM .
-
Why are Bob and Shawn so concerned with Lee leaving? Obviously it's having some sort of influence. I don't see why they can't see his point.
Out of the hundreds of rules with the IFBB, 95% of them are broken except competing in a different federation since there's never been one until now. Lee's move will hopefully make the IFBB more responsible in running its league (not lazy) and allow freedom to earnings for competitors. The general and bodybuilding fan public will see a porn star dancing like a stripper on stage as more of a ruination to bodybuilding than a tattoed shorty publicly donating his winnings to charity.
Bob and Shawn, you are out of line in moral and judgement.
-
Bob and Shawn, you are out of line in moral and judgement.
Pace Rosa Parks, but it seems that Bob and Shawn want Lee to stay at the back of the bus with the rest of the yes-men. Keep grinding Lee. :)

That's a good question. If Jocelyn Pelletier decided to quietly move to a new organization, no one would be tlaking about it.
IFBB must be feeling some serious heat on this one. One of their top guys is leaving for an org run by a guy that put the IFBB on top. A lot of people are watching, and their defense has been very inconsistent.
If the PDI was doomed, you wouldn't have had Bob and Shawn flustered and arguing for 45 minutes last night. PDI is a very big threat to the IFBB monopoly.
-
Ben's greedy ways have blinded him.

To be quite honest...I could care less wheteher lee stays or goes, I'm sure Shawn feels the same way...I'm also sure the athletes behind lee looking to move up the ladder also wish him the best...LOL.
It's called "news"...thats why there is discussion, that's why there is a radio show on it, that's why it's in the magazines, on the internet, etc.....
No one was flustered...it's called banter. The only person Lee will affect is Lee.
To believe the "IFBB is feeling some heat"...is a joke. Heat from what? Cancelled shows, zero sponsorship, athletes leaving, amateurs given pro cards, etc, etc.??
-

Watch out Chick, or Lou will sue your ass ;)

Yes they may not have much sponsorship and the sort, but you and Shawn were on a tirade yesterday against Lee. You spent the entire hour on one question - "Why are you competing in the PDI". There was much other news that could have been talked about, but you and Shawn sounded worse than a Mel Gibson breakdown.
-
Dan, Bob, Shawn asked Lee tough questions and Lee answered them. That is called a discussion, a debate, with a little bit of jabs and banter in there. It was good. Discussion and debate, whether you are for one side or the other, is interesting to hear. Like the news show Crossfire, or the O' Reilly Factor (for you young ones, these are on CNN or Fox News). People may have their different views, and that is ok.

A discussion on solely Why Lee wants to compete in a different organization.
-
Thanks Ron, I thought that is what this board was supposed to be about, "discussion" which is why Dan created PBW as well, to discuss issues, to agree to disagree and get the News out there for the public to hear directly from the Players in the IFBB.
Most of the clowns on the board think someone has to Win or lose here when plainly lee has his reasons for his ideas, Bob has his, as I have mine and they are all different from each other which makes for good discussion.
For the record, most of the questions bob and I were on about where directed at getting Lee to "Talk" about his direction, motives and goals, they weren't for "US" they were for the fans!
Personally, like Bob said, we could careless what Lee decides to do but we asked questions that we think you guys would like to hear answers to, then we get attacked?
Only the peanut gallery is making an issue out of the show but the show itself revealed alot about Lee and where he stands.
Peace,
S. Ray

The show revealed that one question about one guy could be stretched out over an entire hour with an Athlete's Rep and retired great. 2 big figures in the industry. To say it doesn't matter is downsizing.

I think the reason that many diehard Chic fans are so shocked is that they really heard Bob riled up last night on the show. He was angry at some points, obviously offended, and you could tell he was embarassed by the "puppet" comments made by Lee.
If there was no truth whatsoever in anything Lee said, it would have been a very calm discussion. If Lee had called and said Bob had an ugly bald head, Bob would have calmly replied that he had a beautiful head of hair, and there wouldn't have been an escalation of words. Instead, lee's words seemed to have at least a little truth, as Bob got shaken pretty quickly and never regained his composure.

Yeah, I was really "riled up" last night....nice spin 240.
This aint the first discussion I've had with Lee...you people take this shit far more seriously than we do, believe it.

Hey Bob, are you ever going to have Vince Goodrum on your show? It would probably be a ratings smash(by smash, I mean more than 50 listeners).

At this point, what purpose would it serve for Lee to compete in the Olympia. Does anyone have any doubt that he would be out of the top ten regardless of his condition? Then again, I guess he could pick up the $4000 check and thank Bob for it...

Peace,
S. Ray
Pot. Meet kettle. You are black. Given your mincing, shit-disturbing ways on this board Shawn, doesn't the about comment make you the biggest hypocrite. I think Dante had a special place in mind for those and traitors in the innermost part of hell. Enjoy.
-
why'd my posts here disapear? I want to make a comment about the peanut gallery. Bob and company if you mention the names of some of those from the peanut gallery you are just encouraging their behavior and more people will act like idiots just to get mentioned by a pro. The "internet celebrities" shouldn't get recognition. It'll just give them more reason to be stupid. Bob when you said "gibbing" did that have anything to do with me? Furthermore guys like sarcasm shouldn't be mentioned with onlyme. Getbig has a clear line of demarkation between good guys, bad guys, and amazing tards.
How come I was mentioned. I am trying to be good now. No more argueing or anything. What did I do now.

Not for nothing Shawn, but why did you talk the entire time and not give Lee much of a chance to "Talk"? My personal favorite is when you took over the show and started asking Bob questions. ;)

I think we should of called the second half of the show the Shawn Ray segment with a few comments by Bob and Lee and Dan. It was interesting - like after Bob and Dan went head to head with Lee, they brought in the big gun - the ultimate debater - Shawn.
As for the clowns of the board, I agree. These few guys that just like owning someone or think everythin is a 'you win, he loses' situation is just plain wrong. Discussion. Debate. That is what is interesting.
Not getting mad when you find yourself in a losing end of a debate and resort to malicious bashing, owning, meltdowns....

Congratulations Ron , GetBig is cementing itself as the premiere BB Forum on the planet!!!!

Whoops. That is not how it was to be read sarge. The saying notes that a black pot calling out a black kettle is hypocrisy. Certainly nothing racial was meant. I leave that to the idiots, and they know who they are. :)

Great point Ron. You might want to pass the message on to Shawn.

Essentially, everyone related to the IFBB knows that Lee is going to break the unwritten rule and put the IFBB "family" in a position where they either have to expose their books and policies to scrutiny or allow him to compete elsewhere.
It's a lose/lose for the IFBB and only someone who doesn't need the IFBB can do it. The only thing they can do is allow him to compete in the PDI and just place him low enough in the IFBB that it stops being worth Lee's time and effort to show up. It would be impossible for him to sue over low placings.

next time dont use a period to end a sentence like that, but im sure no idiots seen what you said :)
-
seems like a win-win situation for lee he's obviously very popular i know i'm disapointed when he pulls out of contests so the ifbb does need him, if they don't let him compete he places first in the 1st ever pdi contest solidifying his name with pdi and if they fail well how many yrs. he got left anyway and he got to tell the ifbb he don't need them
-
To believe the "IFBB is feeling some heat"...is a joke. Heat from what? Cancelled shows, zero sponsorship, athletes leaving, amateurs given pro cards, etc, etc.??
Hmmm I tend to disagree.

Dr. Chimps, who are you again?
Ron, I agree, "I got a Big Mouth!"
Ah, now tell me something I dont know :-*

Just someone who likes to play Devil's Advocate, and notes inconsistencies in arguments.
/and yes, i recognize that your 'who are you again?' is a dismissive. You best do better than that. :-\

You're much too smart to play the trash game. Be the better person; don't play the fool.

Cool, then like I promised here's your girl! :-*

That was pretty low

No,this is ;D

With Jay's success, I'm sure he won't need your child support.

Second place at the O will give him a pretty decent check!
-
Back to PBW, guys... ;)
BTW, a very entertaining show, Dan & Bob!
I have to say that Lee Priest did very well on the show.
He had some decent points about the double standards
of the ifbb regarding "the rules".
Lee was calm and focused, he managed himself quite good.
Bob & Shawn, esp Bob was a bit agressive towards him.
This one goes to Lee. It will be quite interesting to see
how it goes with Lee's plan to competed in both shows.
Good luck to you Lee!!
-
Sadly, if Lee compete in the PDI, it will be his only show, as he will definitley Not be permitted in compete in the IFBB, not in 2006. :-\
Good luck Lee.
S. Ray
-
Would you let him compete in your show Shawn or are you another hypocrit?
-
All I gotta say is Lee got told by Shawn and to tell u the truth Shawn is right with the advice he was giving. I really doubt the PDI is going do anything for you Lee.
-
Lee would be eligable to compete in my show NEXT YEAR,
Provided he is a member of the IFBB. 8)
Peace,
S. Ray

Wayne DeMilia will try to milk the best out of Lee Priest.
Use him as much as possible.
To paraphrase Gold Ray:
Wayne DeMilia will be as helpful to Lee Priest as Jack Kevorkian to a newborn baby.
DeMilia is a fcuking Leech.

USA coverage, Lee Priest, Shawn Ray, and more. Let's get it on.
Jack I think you look pretty good now. You definately need to get more shredded but you got time. Keep up the good work Jack. You already look better than Bob did at the masters. But Bob knows CHRISTMAS came early for him this year

Lou is still bitter that Arnold beat him at the 75 Olympia, He is just a shinking bitter old man that trying to live off a 30 year TV series.
-
All I noticed is that the broadcast turned into Shawn Ray not shutting the f- up. I had to turn it off. He had good points, but when one just starts talking over everyone, it voids their argument to me.

You know...
Braille is reserved for those who are blind...
Text is reserved for those who are deaf...
What's the purpose of doing a "play-by-play" of a radio show if we are neither?
By the way, what RADIO STATION is this RADIO SHOW broadcast on? I'm still waiting for an answer to this.
If it's not on any AM or FM frequencies, it's NOT A RADIO SHOW.

Dude this is becoming rather pathetic.

Point is, the IFBB does state that drugs are illegal and doing porn is not allowed. YET, these things go on. Lee is RIGHT!!!! Let's suspend the gay for pay athlete's and the muscle worshiping JUDGES. Rules are rules.
-
Lou never got over losing to Arnold and now he turns around and pretty much put his father in the grave and is trying to screw his brother. Lou please use the gun they gave you for being a deputy and do the whole bodybuilding world a favor and empty it into your big head.
