Safe Metal choice? Wtf is that?

Lets say you claim to like Heavy Metal. You would pick Metallica cause it's a safe bet if you dont' know what you're talking about. Same with Led Zepplin and classic rock. Another example would be citing Mozart if you didn't know shit about classical music and said you did.

People who claim to like something that they really do not are just trying to fit into a clickish group. These people are usually the followers in society.

I'm not to excited about this for some reason.  I'm not a gigantic metallica fan but I do like alot of thier stuff.  I just started listening to some stuff off the black album and it's pretty damn good, I'm only about 16 years late but what the hell....

about 12 years ago I swore master of puppets and anything before that was the shit. Now I only really like Kill Em All and that's only because it's so raw. I appreciate slayers old stuff much more in retrospect.

Back in the day I saw Metallica for the first time "Master of Puppets" concert, then I saw the "Justice For All" show. I can be seen very briefly in the concert footage on the "Live Shit Binge and Purge" box set. The Seattle show 1989, I was one of the crazies in the pit, you can see the circle of guys going round and round. That was a crazy show...............my ex-now(RIP, dead at22)girlfriend can be seen in the footage as well as few of my buds. This was the first show for Jason Newsted...............an d one of the best Metallica shows ever. Stood just feet away from the band while they played and Hetfield threw beer into the faces of myself and a few others close by, I snuck a flask of Jim Beam and a roll of weed hidden in my cowboy boot.
The last Metallica show I saw was at the Gorge in Wa, State  1998........It was ok till' some fuck through a beer bottle at Newstead and near knocked him out. They threatened to walk if the loser wasn't thrown up to the front. The audience quickly abliged, he was pounded on by security. ;D

Even if they wanted to make an album like the Early 80's and Rick Rubin holds a gun to their heads. James Hetfield can't sing/scream like he used to and they don't have Cliff Burton. Fuck Metallica anyway, the led zepplin of metal aka token band that everybody makes for a safe metal choice.

Oh yeah, he was such an influential song writer in their early shit  ::)

Mustaine would be better to bring back than Cliff

I think working with Rubin on this album is only a positive thing...it's not often something sucky comes out that he's part of...and that goes for his metal albums as well.

As for not having Cliff, well not much they can do about that...it was a mistake though letting Jason go. I know a lot of people like to bitch about Jason, as if he's not up to snuff. But come on, most of what Metallica does/did was/is with Jason...not Cliff.

A little Metallica news. This past fall it was reported that the band asked Jason Newsted to come back to the band. His response...absolutely not. Kind of sucks, I'd like to see him back...the band was better with him IMO.

BTW, Metallica is the greatest Metal band of all time. Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm not supposed to say that because that must mean I don't know my metal bands, lol!

They gave Jason hell.  Fun for them, not for him.  My buddies and I have a dude who hangs with us, the same way... we just bust on him all the friggin time

Metallica has not made anything worthwhile since ...And Justice for All. Iron Maiden is so superior that it is hilarious that Metallica is put in the same sentence...(oops I just did it)

UP THE IRONS!!
