Very interesting thread, thanks to all for sharing and congrats to those that kicked.
I have a friend who has had severe back pain for over a year. They can't do surgery but she has tried shots in her back, etc. She is on Vicodin (or something like it), Oxycontin AND Tramadol. She has said she thinks she will have to go to rehab if her back ever gets fixed and she no longer needs the drugs (she has never been a drinker or drug user other than these drugs). Do any of you have any advice/encouragement I can pass along?
Shockwave, I recently read The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx. Have you read it and if so, what did you think?
I have not read it. As far as your friend goes, she'll be in for a hard time depending on her dosage and duration of use.
Contrary to what da_vinci said, it doesnt matter if your taking them to get high or for pain management - its all about dose and duration.
The symptoms wouldnt be nearly as bad as someone slamming an eightball of heroin everyday, obviously, but it can be really bad, especially with that cocktail of drugs.
Kind of weird they have her on Vicoden and Oxycontin, seems redundant to me. Tramadol (ultram) is supposed to be a non-narcotic painkiller, but its addictive as well.
