Is Nick Diaz making the right move?
« on: November 24, 2006, 05:31:39 AM »
hes apparently leaving UFC because of the poor pay he receives. Now unless he goes to Pride he wont get more exposure, although he is rumoured to be getting alot more money from another company. If you were in his shoes, would you go for mediocre exposure and more money, or decent money and awesome exposure? If he is trying to hold Dana to ransom then he wont get very far i reckon, hes not the type of guy who buckles under pressure from his employees.

Hes amongst the best of the new breed IMO, hes only 23 and has the MMA world at his feet.

his losses have been decisions so hes a tough cookie. The only person to KO him was a boxer who had his arse handed to him on 2 more occasions. If he focused a little more on the fights he would be a much better fighter all round

UFC is on top now, but if they keep underpaying their fighters they won't be for long. If Diaz can make more money going elsewhere more power to him.

yeah good point, the payment system fom UFC has always come under question. Dana was quoted as saying hes made more millionaires than anyone, but most of the money goes to him and his partners. I think Yves Edwards has also left because of pay issues, its good that these guys have finally taken a stand.

Yves was cut because of his last two losses.  Nick really has nowhere to go.  No one else in the N. American market can step up and pay bigger dollars.  He needs to get a couple of wins against good, game opponents and he would be right in the mix.  With the closing of TWF, he really has nowhere to go.

If the big names started signing with PRIDE and the other American organizations, it would be pretty interesting to watch. I can see Dana's interviews now, the IFL hasn't got fucking shit on fucking me, fuck, fuck, fuck.

theres too much competition in the WW division in the UFC right now.  I think Diaz should move up to middleweight and stay in the UFC
