Bass guitar player = failed lead guitarist
You got that right. I can still pretty much pwn any lead guitarist I jam with on improv leads. But when it comes down to putting the time, money, and mental effort into it, guitar is a huge committment. On bass, you can just get the verse/chorus/bridge chords, and boom, you can play the song live by keeping with the kick and paying attention. On guitar, that'd be 30 min of tabbing and tone. On bass, you can get shit drunk and jump around live and never worry about anything. and gear? whew. my whole bass setup is like 1500. You spend that on a amp head for guitar. of course, bassists are like the 4th in line to hook up, dammit...
