Jealousy... is it a turn-on?
« on: December 19, 2006, 06:57:20 AM »
Or a turn-OFF?

Does it make you feel loved and protected... or suffocated and claustrophobic?

I find there is a lot more acceptance for a man to seethe with the green-eyed monster and perhaps destroy a few things in his wake to make his point, while women are often perceived as demonic witch creatures if they show the same kind of passionate response. Maybe it's the marking of the territory thing that makes it more acceptable for men.

Never show weakness is my own personal motto.

time and again my girlfriends have gotton mad at me here and there for NOT being jeleous  >:(      :-\

i know how me being jeleous can be seen as ..me caring more....but girls...some guys just aren't the jeleous type...

look at it this way...just cause i'm secure enough to be ok with ya dancing with other doods at some party does not mean i love ya less...it means i trust ya..

and if ya betray that trust.well...it'll hurt..but at least i find out it ws not meant to be

2 love dosen't betray :)

The one time I wasn't jealous with a girl got me the same response.  It's funny because girls get pissed about jealousy too.

Actually I dont.....kinda.  I was raised by a single mother....natural for me to relate to women better than guys, so im obviously more comfortable around them.  They dont see it that way.

That might be why I dont get jealous too.....I dunno.

DITTO.

I know all about this. It makes me want to run for the hills and never look back or come down.

I'm not a jealous kind of guy by any means. I frown upon people who are jealous and insecure. NOTHING is more of a turn on than a woman who's trusting, confident and totally secure.

This rarely happens unless they are on the end of the looks spectrums.  You either get fat women who think they look good and model types who know they look hot.

I think to an extent it is natural.  People are just better than others about controlling the feelings or are in some cases delusional.  I think only sociopaths don't get jealous.  Rules don't apply to them.

As Jay-Z said, "Jealousy is a female trait". Men don't get jealous, they get envious. Envious of what others have that they don't have.
I've been envious before, and then thought, "that was stupid", because the energy that goes into that could energy put into more productive things. Plus, people feed off of that energy, so why give  the party that your envious of, more power? Give them credit and a pat on the back, and you feel better.

Jealousy and envy are two different things.  Jealousy relates to feeling threatened and thinking that someone is going to take something from you.  E.g. in a relationship, if you are jealous you are afraid someone will take your partner away.

Amen my brother!  My boyfriend has no problem with me hanging out with a pro bodybuilder of the opposite sex. He said to just hook him up for a workout or two with him. (no not in the gay way) ha ha
I think it's funny when women drool over him,  cause I know at the end of the day who he is with...

I'd actually appreciate it if my bf showed a lil itty bit of jealousy once in a while...but that may be because he NEVER EVER EVER shows that he is and I don't have to deal with someone who is overly insecure. Me on the other hand...jealousy is my worst quality in my books.

I think if the relationship is very open there is no reason for jealousy...though I think for many it is just a part of them.  I absolutely HATE being jealous, think it is one of the worse feelings to have and a horrible thing to have to deal with-that being said sometimes it is impossible for me to contain these feelings try as I might.

Definitely not a turn on for me.  I know that I would never do anything intentional to hurt the person I am with so for them to be jealous of my friends or lifting partner is ridiculous.

I really hate the feeling too... and am usually ashamed when I feel jealous, but fortunately it barely ever happened, and mostly I have tried to crush it before it ever showed.

The reason I was curious was because on Monday my girlfriend and I were in line at the farmacia and the guy in front of us started talking to us.  It took forever to get to the cashier so we had enough time to joke and laugh with him... until all of a sudden some chick comes out of nowhere and gives us the laser-eyed death stare, then attaches herself to him like crazy glue.  When we left, we saw them standing outside and she was railing at him like a loon... He just took it too.   :-\

Lol, that's a little black and white isn't it? Only fatties and hotties have self-esteem?

(PS.  You're Italian, so you're allowed to be jealous.  It's in your genes.  :))

I have a sarcastic side.  8) Actually, I think models have low ass self esteem.  They are 100 % dependent on what people think of them in terms of look.  I think life is black and wife IMO but many would disagree with me.  I'm Italian for sure but unfortunately I cannot be like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas. "If I see you talking to any guys I'll kill ya. *Kisses her cheek*.  ;D
