typical conversation at my gym
« on: February 26, 2007, 04:21:21 PM »
two kids were doing bench presses with 115lbs on the bar.  a third kid comes over:

the 3rd kid:  how many did you do, 12?
the bencher: 15!
the 3rd kid: crazy!

sadly, this is a typical conversation at my college gym....

I hate to jump on this band wagon, but I will. My gym closed :-[ and now I have to work out at a college gym. And it is a freak show!. I see this kid, who I knew from seeing him bench press awhile ago, really didn't know what he was doing, go into the squat rack and start to do front squats. I am thinking to myself why is a beginner doing front squats? He has the bar down to low so he is struggling to squat down and get the bar balanced on his shoulders/arms. I also see he is not picking the bar up evenly, as I am walking over to tell him he doesn't have the bar positioned correctly he starts to sway and sure enough the weight slide off one end and flips up and slide off the other end. The scary thing is one of the weights came extremely close to hitting this guy who was doing curls. Sorry to vent, I guess I just miss my old gym.
