Sorry, but ronnie looks like shit this year.  His arms look MUCH smaller, and his midsection is bigger than ever.  I can see Palumboism setting in ;D  Sorry, but he's done.  He used to be the greatest of all time as far as physical development, but he's done.  Stick a fork in him.  Cue Hulkster in 3...2...1...

the problem with all of this stuff is that people were saying the same thing leading up to the 2003 Mr. O...and look what happened 8)

Thing is, Ron does believe that he's so different from everyone, which was true in the past, that he can overcome age and the lack of response he'll get this year from drugs.

It's over, but he's in denial, like a lot of athletes who don't know when to retire.

I agree that hearing all the time that he wasn't even the same league as the other guys got to his head

All I know is back at the GNC show a couple of years back, everyone made a stink saying Ronnie was done when he lost to Gunter. Well....what happend next? Ronnie came back bigger and badder then ever mopping up the floor with his competition and winning the O several more times.

The point is, he has too many injuries that throw off his symmetry to retake the O.  All of those recent pics try to hide his flaws.  No back shots, no left side tricep shots, etc, etc, etc... so even though he will go down as the greatest bodybuilder in history in terms of physical development, his time is up, and he should hang it up with class... and not go out bitching about a "racist" IFBB to cover up for his own flaws in his physique.  Its funny how almost every time a minority or African American lose at something over someone who happens to be white, its racism... whites arent the ones keeping racism alive... and neither are minorities or african americans as a whole... its sore loosing african americans and minorities that are keeping racism alive. just one white man's opinion 8)

Growing his hair back was clearly an inarticulate defense mechanism against having irretrievably lost his status as alpha gorilla.  :(

But for all his sad "age is nothing but a number" talk, someone needs to tell him that part of being a true champion is gracefully accepting that one's time has past.

Maybe coming in 3rd behind Martinez at the O will slap some sense into him.

But maybe it won't.  :(

Exactly. People keep bringing up the fact that everyone said that Ronnie was done in 2002, and yet he came into the 2003 Olympia bigger than ever and won convincingly. What they seem to forget is that Ronnie will be four years older at this year's Olympia than he was in 2003, and at this age, that does make a difference. Bodybuildiing is unique among sports in the sense that competitors peak very late, usually in their late thirties.

For instance, gymnasts peak in their teen years, swimmers peak in their early twenties, sprinters in their mid twenties and marathon runners in their early thirties. The problem is that, at age 43 going on 44, Ronnie has become old even by bodybuilding standards. He reached his absolute peak of muscle maturity and density four years ago, at the 2003 Olympia, when he was age 39 going on 40.

He will lose this year. No doubt. Ronnie's age gives an incredible advantage in muscle density and maturity, but his muscles have began to flatten out, which is what happens when you enter your forties. Ronnie's greatest strengh as a bodybuilder, his incredible muscle fullness, is gone. This, coupled with his injuries and loss of back mass sealed his fate. There are no drugs that'll give him so much muscle back at his age.
