exactly... Hit it on the head.

Even Hicks agree :P

I remember walk'in round the court square sidewalk
Lookin' in windows at things I couldn't want
There's johnson's hardware and morgans jewelry
And the ol' Lee king's apothecary
They ware the little man
The little man

I go back now and the stores are all empty
Except for an old coke sign from 1950
Boarded up like they never existed
Or renovated and called historic districts
There goes the little man
There goes the little man

[Chorus:]
Now the court square's just a set of streets
That the people go round but they seldom think
Bout the little man that built this town
Before the big money shut em down
And killed the little man
Oh the little man

He pumped your gas and he cleaned your glass
And one cold rainy night he fixed your flat
The new stores came where you do it yourself
You buy a lotto ticket and food off the shelf
Forget about the little man
Forget about that little man

He hung on there for a few more years
But he couldn't sell slurpees
And he wouldn't sell beer
Now the bank rents the station
To a down the road
And sell velvet Elvis and
Second-hand clothes
There goes little man
There goes another little man

Now the are lined up in a concrete strip
You can buy the world with just one trip
And save a penny cause it's jumbo size
They don't even realize
They'er killin' the little man
Oh the little man

It wasn't long when I was a child
An old black man came with his plow
He broke the ground where we grew our garden
Back before we'd all forgot
about the little man
The little man
Long live the little man
God bless the little man

lol.  Dude I am at Wal-Mart about once a week.   :)  In fact, if I had to start all over again, I'd go work for them as a teenager and work my way up (for the stock).  That family is loaded.  I'd even move to Arkansas.   :)

I'm going to invent something and let Wal-Mart make me rich. Perhaps a shirt with a built in pencil holder, that also reflects light in case your walking home from school late.

Walt Disney went bankrupt 7 times.  So Sam can bite him.

But the hell with Wal Mart.  It's not good for small businesses and it's closing Main Street America down

I like Target better anyway.   :P

I haven't noticed that here.  We have lots of small businesses and I haven't heard of any of them shutting down because of Wal-Mart.  I know they gave K-Mart problems.  But Wal-Mart is giving consumers what they want.

There are towns in the Mainland that have tried to bar Wal Marts from opening there.  My aunt who lives in Wisconsin, tells me of towns where Main Street used to be loaded with family own businesses and now they are boarded up due to Wal Marts putting them out of business.

Every so often i read about this very thing happening somewhere in the mainland.  It's not good.

i hear ya.  but there's something about a family owned hardware store, Auto mechanic, drug store, etc... that just pure and the service you get there is usually superb.  With BIG corporations it's different.

Interesting.  I haven't read up on this.  But is this really a bad thing?  Seems to me it is what the market wants.  They come in and offer more products at a cheap price, employ more people, and put more money into the economy.

And isn't the alternative socialism?

I suggest we have a mod war and totally start wacking what the other mods are saying :P  Ok, me first, I've just went back and changed 4 of Beach's posts to read, "I'm a homo and there is nothing you can do about it.  I love men"
