Well, I'm exaggerating slightly, but Islam Awareness Week was not the most balanced of affairs. It was generally lots of events about how great Islam is, as well as lectures on the usual antiwar/bush/Blair topics.
And they wonder why the uni was in the top 5 for radical Islamic activity (the only thing they are in the top 5 for, mind).
No need to exaggrate. That is dangerous. It will give the Islamists the cop-out of claiming that those of us who oppose Islam are liars, hate-mongerers and racists.
And there is no need, either. The truth is terrible as it is.
Look at Toxy. He's in disbelief of the Muslim culture in Britain reported on CNN. He claims it's "not Islam".
Well, it's the Islam we see, all over Europe.
I have no ill will towards these people.
But I cannot tolerate the part of their culture which is anti-feminist and medieval.
Of course it is medival BTW. The Quran was written 1500 years ago.
Praying to Mecca and pilgrimage and those things? I couldn't care less. If someone chooses to do that, it's up to him/her.
But whenever Islam interfers with modern laws and equality, I am the biggest opponent.
