So what happens now?

With Serra winning the belt, Koschek beating Sanchez, what happens with the welterweights, who gets the next title shot or will there be a #1 contender bout?

Dana has said that Matt Hughes gets a shot at Serra first.

Serra's manager sets up a series of fights against has beens, while avoiding the top contenders. Eventually, a top contender insults Matt's fiance, prompting Matt to accept the contender's challenge. Matt loses the fight and has thoughts about hanging up the gloves, but the need to prove himself against a top contender compels him to take one more fight in which he regains his title and then announces his retirement.

Oh, wait. That's Rocky.

How is it in class?  Everyone must be on cloud nine after the win.  Why wasn't Renzo in Matt's corner?

Actually, since Matt started his own school in Long Island a few years  ago, he only occasionally comes to Renzo's. So, Renzo really isn't Matt's trainer anymore. There's also such a high turnover rate in BJJ that not too many of the newbies know Matt personally. Ironically, GSP has probably done more training recently at Renzo's than Matt. He takes privates with "New Zealand" John Danaher, who ironically used to be a student of Matt's. The whole thing was somewhat incestuous.

I didn't know who I was gonna root for, but, when I saw Matt and Nick (Matt's brother) come down the aisle, it brought back some memories and I really wanted Matt to win, but I never expected that outcome.

I knew that, but I know how the Brazillians feel about students of theres who perform well.  I train at a Relson affiliate, and when someone from our academy wins the Pan Ams, we are sure to be graced by the man himself soon thereafter.  Funny thing is our academy produces as much Triple Crown winners, Pan Am winners, NAGA winners than does the main academy.  I think it has to do with Relson's travel schedule.

The 170lb division looks like this right now, Serra vs Hughes for the title, Koscheck vs. Gsp for #1 contender spot, and I am thinking Diego vs. Jon Fitch right behind them.  (the Fitch/Sanchez fight is just my guess, the other two are actually being talked about alot right now.

After BJ beats the hell out of Pulver he will probably get a shot and kill whoever he fights.  His conditioning is coming along unreal.  Don't be surprised if he has a 6-pack at his next fight.  He is lifting good and doing lots of cardio.  He is in here training 3 times a day.  He weighed 167 today

That match-up would be like the Arona/Tito of the 170lb division, (by that I mean there is a good chance it could be really, really boring).  Not to take anything away from Jon Fitch, but if the fight involves Kos, there is a good chance it will be boring.  The "Blanket" has evolved................. .............. from "lay n pray" to "stand n pray".  Fitch is alright though.
