No..Iraq is a 3rd world shithole...with oil..as long as the oil flows we'll be ok. I think winning and loosing changes weekly. I think if we fight Al sadr openly and win it would go along way to stopping some of the daily attacks. It depends on what kinda fight we have with him..the Marines crushed Falujha so if its like that it will help..if he continues to increase the insurgent like atacks then it will be more of the same slow bleed.

We lost it at the negotiation table.  Kissenger dropped the ball.  They negotiated because we began carpet bombing.

The end result:  we left and 2 years later a helicopter picked up the last Americans on the embassy.  We lost.

I had a guy come through my school last year, he originally signed up for the Marines in 1969 and after a stint in the Army guard he got out. Well after his wife died he decided to rejoin the guard for 2 years and finish so he could get retirement. I remember him saying that the war was fought much like Iraq. It had to many restrictions. All McNamarra wanted to do was hold the line between NV and SV and never really turned the military loose to truly perform it's mission. I think that there are people that think that we won in ways and lost in ways. But I definately see the same thing happening in Iraq, to many restrictions...
